Do you mean the line that isn't in line with the six yard box!!!!!! ******* hell Baj it starts about 1 ft out from the mower line on the Kingsland side and by the time it gets to Guly it's about 3 feet. Didn't you get taught about parallel lines (and perspectives in Technical Drawing at school)?????
-
We considered that as well, but when he received the ball from Connoly I don't think he was offside.

Interesting. I'm with Appy in that I'm so blooody pessimistic in big games like this that I always try to have a quick glance at the linesman, so it looks as though I missed it today (was still the first amongst our lot to realise it was disallowed - their keeper had to be told by one of their defenders as well!!!!!). I also sit in the Kingsland, about level with 6 yard box, and so was right in line(ish) with Lallana and Guly and just couldn't see who was offside. There was a mass of bodies in there and I couldn't see any Saints shirt closer to the goal than a defender. Will be very interested to see how wrong I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

And now back to reality. What was the Wadworth furore a few years back after he had been given the boot along with Gray??? Didn't we put up a rather disparaging attack on him on the OS a bit later (was he returning with another team, or was someone just reminiscing on how bad things were under Gray and him) that then got pulled after someone realised it was a bit OTT (or after he complained?)??? Hope he hasn't got a better memory than me!!!!!!

Not sure if my dreams are anything to go by, but after going 2-0 down early we will come back to win 8-5 (anyone know the odds on that). Obviously not sure of the veracity of my dream as in the first half I'm refereeing wearing UGG boots and in the second half I'm under the East terrace with black DM's on. Additionally, Tony Pulis is managing Hartlepool for the day, the game is being played at Vicarage Road and one Monkey Hanger fan is sick over Lambert as he goes to take a corner!!!!!!!! No cheese last night, just plenty of scrumpy at The Platform Tavern's Cider Festival!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parents 'responsible for children's bad behaviour'
um pahars replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Lounge
I'm afraid that whilst you may have some valid points elsewhere in your response, I have to take issue with this one line. It is the responsibility of the individual with regards how they conduct themselves in classrooms (and indeed all walks of life). We should never be looking to transfer that responsibility on to others. Indeed, I believe that when we do we start to make excuses for poor behaviour and the notion of responsibility starts to blur, this can only exasparate the issue. Whilst there may be other contributory factors, including poor teachers, nothing should take away the basic tenet we are all responsible for our own choices and actions and have to suffer the sanctions of poor behaviour or enjoy the rewards of good behaviour. -
I think we have more than a couple of players who could play a League higher, we have 5 who their peers rate as the best in the division and as a team we are looking at being the second best team in this division (even allowing for some upheaval earlier in the season). I'd say that makes us a decent League One side, who hopefully in a couple of weeks will be a Championship side. I think people are realistic in their expectations and have finally come round to the idea of being in a lower division, with that bringing a lower standard of play and player. We know we're not going to get Champagne football week in, week out. However, given the calibre of players, the general set up, the huge wage bill and having seen us at our best I don't see anything wrong with expecting the team to be, shall we say, more consistent. For whatever reason (and injuries have played a large part), we have underperformed in a number of recent games. As you say, I accept that lower league teams may not be as consistent and graceful as those in the leagues above, but I go back to my starting point which is that we have the calibre of players that makes us slightly different to your average run of the mill third tier club.

I won't be too harsh on you after some of your gracious comments, but being totally honest (and I have been quick to comment on Adkins faux pas over the season and also supportive of Brighton's long suffering supporters who have finally been given something to cheer about) I think Poyet has come across as a complete and utter fookwit in that interview. The notion that the only thing that separates us from "Dagnam" is Lambert, and all we do is play route one makes him just look completely small time. I can only assume his brother was in charge of the tannoy, his mum was making the banners and his sister was throwing the bottles. Small time, real small time and the actions of Poyet and deeds of others have made you look somewhat classless, which is sad considering the troubles you have come through and the positive position you, as a Club, find yourselves in. I thought a successful Brighton could have been a really good story given the shyte thrown at you over the years, but instead the recent antics have left me thinking you're a tad small time.
-
errrrrrrr If Dagnam had Ricky errrrrrrrr Lambert, errrrrrr than they would be top six, no doubt. Ricky you are obviously worth 36 points, go and ask for a pay rise!!!!!!!!!!! Of all the small time comments and actions coming from Sussex over the past few weeks, then this is up there with the best. Adkins may have been a bit of a dinlo with regards some of his comments, but dear ole Gus has certainly pipped him here.
-
Deary me Gus, deary me. You sound as small time as some of your fans. As you say winning the Third Division title is no more than a stepping stone into the Leagues above and I doubt whether many could name you the last three winners, let alone who won it ten years ago. I presume it was Norwich, S****horpe (due to the Adkins connection) and then ??? It's a sh1tty league and we are deservedly down here for being sh1tty in recent years, but in all honesty no one gives a fook and the only aim is to get out of this division by any means possible. You'd think he'd won the Premier League. Small time Gus, small time (next time take a breather and give a more considered interview after being stuffed at home).

Let's just say The Saints in Millbrook was in celebratory mood. Refills were the order of the day as much went on the ceiling and around the car park!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a word, NO. HTH

I too wonder if it is a little bit more widespread than you or I would like to believe, as it does seem that quite a few of them have got their knickers in a twist with regards us. Some of the stuff on their boards is weird enough (but like you I believe the interweb thingy can be a haven for a multitude of saddos and weirdos, myself included LOL), but working out a whole playlist dedicated to us in the run up to the game, printing strap lines on the front of the matchday programme, making up banners and getting all so het up is just so smalltime. They have done their talking on the pitch this season, their long suffering fans have been rewarded with promotion and a fabulous stadium and yet a great many still seem to be harbouring this inferiority complex/small time notion and feel the need to fill it by directing some vitriolic abuse our way. Quite sad, quite small time.
-
All really small time stuff. Have a lot of sympathy for the long standing Brighton fans who have had to put up with a lot of shyte over the years, but some of their new fans along with some of those that run their club have shown themselves as to be decidedly small time in recent weeks.
-
Stats show that Chaplow was only one booked today. Think it would be safe to say that Fonte got lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Fonte looked happy (and think I recognised the fan who meets him on lane 2!!!!).
-
How small time is the front of that programme???
-
It doesn't mean anything as we never beat them 10-0!!!!! Yeah right!!!!!!! Get the fook in there!!!!!!!! Great comeback!!!!!!
-
After painting the pavillion and then nets last night, I can just about walk!!!!! Saving myself for the season opener on Tuesday (plus my footy days are way behind me!!!). Found it really frustrating when I turned out recently for a footy match in that the brain could see everything happening in front of me, yet the legs were always 5 yards too slow. Ending up getting frustrated as these technically shyte and unskillful players were beating me with their pace (so ended up kicking a few and walking off!!!!). Think it's the Vets (I mean veterans, not the being put down) if I make a comeback.
-
The local football season is over (bar Saints of course), goals coming down soon, so fi you had said a cricket knock about, then I would have been up for that!!!!
-
My initial knee jerk reaction to seeing Hudder's win is fook, fook, fookety, fook, fook, fook. Was really hoping for a draw and have to say fair play to them that is a massive result away at a top 6 team with the pressure on. Still in our hands though and it could be all so different at 5:00 tomorrow (fingers crossed). Think it will go down to the wire with both teams on same points as we kick off on May 7th!!!!!!!!!
-
But what is this good plan???? Could you explain it the outline plans, efficiencies, targets, priorities etc or point me in the direction of something on the net as I've honestly struggled to get my head around what is being proposed and how it will be mplemented
-
That is the crux of the matter for me. I don't believe anyone supports an inefficient, wasteful and under performing NHS and would always be supportive of looking for ways to gain better value for money. From a performance side, many of the indicators are good, so perhaps the emphasis should be on value for many, ridding it of ineffiecient or outdated practices, ensuring as much money as possible hits the frontline (but accepting that backroom roles are necessary to support this) and making sure evry £ is widely spent. But I think that is a million miles away from what Lansley is proposing (that's if anyone realy knows what Lansley is proposing) and I'm not sure such radical proposals should be rushed in, particularly when (a) no one is overly sure what they are, how they are going to work etc (b) there appears to be widespread opposition (not just your usual opposition), © I don't remember it being in their manifesto or election campaign, (d) opposition from within the coalition and other parts of the Government and (e) a real worry that without perhaps running some pilots then this could just all fall apart around our ears.

Pompey didn't when we played them down there midweek after the Saturday Seim Final win!!!!!

Have to say that I view it as an interview of two halves. The first part where he talks about how exciting this finish is (even if it's making me nervous), how we've progressed and how everyone is smiling is really positive and I like it. I also think the part where he is magnanimous in his praise for Brighton is good and starts to show that you can finish second (hopefully!!!) with good grace. If he had stopped there, then that would have been brilliant. However, his little snide digs at the way Brighton play are totally unnecessary and as others have pointed out, could well be counter productive. We all saw how Brighton played when they were up here, we have seen and heard about how they bend the rules to their advantage and how at times they can come across as somewhat unsporting, but I just don't want our manager to be saying that in the press. It doesn't sit well with me, is somewhat disparaging and he should do his talking on the pitch come Saturday (4 points off of the Champions would be a decent retort). Additionally, I would worry that it might just fire up the opposition somewhat. The guard of honour thing is a total load of ****** however, and I totally support him and others who have played it down. If there was nothing to play for and the game was inconsequential, then I would be OK to support it (even then it's a bit small time and I'm unsure what the protocol is?? Is it every divisional winner down to Southampton Junior 9??? Do they now have one before every game until the end of the season??? As Champions do they get one before every game next season??? How much more forced adulation does any team want, winning the title should be enough to be able to strut your stuff???? When did these start to become the norm????), but anyone with a bit of nous realises how important this game is and we shouldn't be doing anythign to interfere with its preparation. Even the slightest psychological advantage (and I think bigging up your opponents before the game will have an impact) might be detrimental, so keep it calm and professional.
