  1. I too wonder if it is a little bit more widespread than you or I would like to believe, as it does seem that quite a few of them have got their knickers in a twist with regards us. Some of the stuff on their boards is weird enough (but like you I believe the interweb thingy can be a haven for a multitude of saddos and weirdos, myself included LOL), but working out a whole playlist dedicated to us in the run up to the game, printing strap lines on the front of the matchday programme, making up banners and getting all so het up is just so smalltime. They have done their talking on the pitch this season, their long suffering fans have been rewarded with promotion and a fabulous stadium and yet a great many still seem to be harbouring this inferiority complex/small time notion and feel the need to fill it by directing some vitriolic abuse our way. Quite sad, quite small time.
  2. All really small time stuff. Have a lot of sympathy for the long standing Brighton fans who have had to put up with a lot of shyte over the years, but some of their new fans along with some of those that run their club have shown themselves as to be decidedly small time in recent weeks.
  3. Stats show that Chaplow was only one booked today. Think it would be safe to say that Fonte got lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Fonte looked happy (and think I recognised the fan who meets him on lane 2!!!!).
  5. How small time is the front of that programme???
  6. It doesn't mean anything as we never beat them 10-0!!!!! Yeah right!!!!!!! Get the fook in there!!!!!!!! Great comeback!!!!!!
  7. After painting the pavillion and then nets last night, I can just about walk!!!!! Saving myself for the season opener on Tuesday (plus my footy days are way behind me!!!). Found it really frustrating when I turned out recently for a footy match in that the brain could see everything happening in front of me, yet the legs were always 5 yards too slow. Ending up getting frustrated as these technically shyte and unskillful players were beating me with their pace (so ended up kicking a few and walking off!!!!). Think it's the Vets (I mean veterans, not the being put down) if I make a comeback.
  8. The local football season is over (bar Saints of course), goals coming down soon, so fi you had said a cricket knock about, then I would have been up for that!!!!
  9. My initial knee jerk reaction to seeing Hudder's win is fook, fook, fookety, fook, fook, fook. Was really hoping for a draw and have to say fair play to them that is a massive result away at a top 6 team with the pressure on. Still in our hands though and it could be all so different at 5:00 tomorrow (fingers crossed). Think it will go down to the wire with both teams on same points as we kick off on May 7th!!!!!!!!!
  10. But what is this good plan???? Could you explain it the outline plans, efficiencies, targets, priorities etc or point me in the direction of something on the net as I've honestly struggled to get my head around what is being proposed and how it will be mplemented
  11. That is the crux of the matter for me. I don't believe anyone supports an inefficient, wasteful and under performing NHS and would always be supportive of looking for ways to gain better value for money. From a performance side, many of the indicators are good, so perhaps the emphasis should be on value for many, ridding it of ineffiecient or outdated practices, ensuring as much money as possible hits the frontline (but accepting that backroom roles are necessary to support this) and making sure evry £ is widely spent. But I think that is a million miles away from what Lansley is proposing (that's if anyone realy knows what Lansley is proposing) and I'm not sure such radical proposals should be rushed in, particularly when (a) no one is overly sure what they are, how they are going to work etc (b) there appears to be widespread opposition (not just your usual opposition), © I don't remember it being in their manifesto or election campaign, (d) opposition from within the coalition and other parts of the Government and (e) a real worry that without perhaps running some pilots then this could just all fall apart around our ears.
  12. Pompey didn't when we played them down there midweek after the Saturday Seim Final win!!!!!
  13. Have to say that I view it as an interview of two halves. The first part where he talks about how exciting this finish is (even if it's making me nervous), how we've progressed and how everyone is smiling is really positive and I like it. I also think the part where he is magnanimous in his praise for Brighton is good and starts to show that you can finish second (hopefully!!!) with good grace. If he had stopped there, then that would have been brilliant. However, his little snide digs at the way Brighton play are totally unnecessary and as others have pointed out, could well be counter productive. We all saw how Brighton played when they were up here, we have seen and heard about how they bend the rules to their advantage and how at times they can come across as somewhat unsporting, but I just don't want our manager to be saying that in the press. It doesn't sit well with me, is somewhat disparaging and he should do his talking on the pitch come Saturday (4 points off of the Champions would be a decent retort). Additionally, I would worry that it might just fire up the opposition somewhat. The guard of honour thing is a total load of ****** however, and I totally support him and others who have played it down. If there was nothing to play for and the game was inconsequential, then I would be OK to support it (even then it's a bit small time and I'm unsure what the protocol is?? Is it every divisional winner down to Southampton Junior 9??? Do they now have one before every game until the end of the season??? As Champions do they get one before every game next season??? How much more forced adulation does any team want, winning the title should be enough to be able to strut your stuff???? When did these start to become the norm????), but anyone with a bit of nous realises how important this game is and we shouldn't be doing anythign to interfere with its preparation. Even the slightest psychological advantage (and I think bigging up your opponents before the game will have an impact) might be detrimental, so keep it calm and professional.
  14. Centre Midfield does indeed look problematic and when you consider that we knew in the loan window that we had problems (given that Scheiderlin was by then a long term casualty), then I have to say we have been left somewhat lightweight (something apparent in recent games). Stephens & Gobern IMHO are not adequate replacements for the here and now. Was never going to be easy getting in someone who could hit the ground running at that stage of the season, and not sure what we came up against when we did look, but it is an area that we need to shore up PDQ (Chaplow in for me ASAP). Given the injuries to Lallana and Chambo, then this just compounds our midfield nightmare. Upfront isn't so much of a worry for me as I think Guly is an able replacement up top, with Connolly to come off of the bench (or maybe even start a couple of the matches), but midfield is where we have big problems.
  15. To get 5 in that team is quite an achievement and from Peach's interviews on another thread they all seem quite rightly thrilled at the recognition of their fellow pro's. Although I like Harding, I think his is the only one who I didn't think would be there. If there was an equivalent poll for manager then I assume Poyet would win as have to say he has done a very good job down there (probably demonstrated by the fact that the PFA team isn't overpopulated with Brighton players).
  16. Lallana might be a step too far, but happy to go with what the physio/doctor and manager think. If he is a risk then I would put Richardson in at Right Midfield (along with Stephens, Chaplow & Hammond). Stephens hasn't impressed me, but not sure what else we have got as I'm not convinced Gobern is the man.
  17. Hopefully Adkins will have learnt his lesson!!! Personally I'd look to shore up the midfield as it was very weak on Saturday. Get Guly out of there and upfront.
  18. Fonte's take is interesting as the Official Site match report has Jaidi down as succumbing to an injury and having to go off. If it was tactical then not overly impressed with Adkins having to change the side and format half an hour in (and using up a sub) as Kuffour is a regular for Rovers and we should have known about his pace and guile beforehand. That said, what is wrong with Roger's and my view that we didn't look any better after the change?? Personally, I saw nothing that would suggest the change improved us, but you're more than welcome to your view that we did improve. Football is all about opinions, it's what makes it so special and intriguing, so not sure why you're trying to play the I'm right, you're wrong card.
  19. I too thought he was poor (particularly the first half), but should we cut him some slack as (a) he's still settling in, and (b) he was part of a very makeshift midfield?????? Another point might be that I think we should have tried to get someone more established (and dare I say experienced) in the loan window once we knew Schneiderlin was out injured??? Obviously not the easiest time to get players and not sure who was available, but not sure Stephens was the player we needed at that point as I think we needed someone who could hit the ground running and impose themself.
  20. Have to disagree about the design of the stadium and the facilities on offer, as everything I have seen of it makes it look very good indeed. Understand your concern about sanitising football, but I think they haven't gone that overboard, they've just incorporated some of the latest thinking in to a wonderful ground. I do have doubts about location, as have always found out of town grounds to be sheite for a number of reasons, so wonder if it will break the mould there??? (so glad we didn't get Stoneham!!!!!). (Plus, without being too Green & Conservationist and always hoping that Brighton would finnd a new home for their long suffering supporters, then I have to say it looks very much out of place there and despite the design and landscaping it certainly impacts on The South Downs - how did they manage to pull that off??)
  21. Jealousy, anger and hatred of this ilk is very often down to an inferiority complex and being a no mark. If you are comfortable with who you are and have just achieved success, then you wouldn't have to resort to such attacks to try and fulfil an obvious pyschological gap in your psyche. Brighton have done very well this season and I think their true supporters who stuck by them in the very dark times have been deservedly rewarded with promotion and a decent stadium. Well done to them and I hope they enjoy the benefits of this success. However, for the other weirdos who seem to populate that board and who seem a bit obsessed, then my message would be kick back, enjoy your success, wallow in it, but ultimately you need to feel a little bit more secure about who you are and feel less of a need to big yourself up by putting others down. Otherwise you really do look like no marks.
  22. I would seriously reconsider going to St Mary's if we ever got a drummer in St Mary's!!!!! My worst away games recently have been at places like Peterborough and Colchester where some complete funkwit is thumping out the same moronic beats throughout the game. Trumpet I'm a little less fussed about, mainly from watching the Barmy Army trumpeter do his stuff (but then he doesn't go over the top, has plenty of respites and there is a policy of minimal repitition which makes it more bearable). That dear W******d chappy isn't that bad, he's a one off (in many ways!!!!) and adds something, but the accompanying drums down there (and elsewhere) are as you the sign of a complete no mark club.
  23. Forgot that one. Any others between the 1986 FA Cup match and our very recent League games????
