  1. Not at all. Just calling it as I see it, in that Saturday's performance was poor and there were some particularly poor individual performances. I'm confident that Pardew and the new regime can bring about an upward turn in our fortunes, but that doesn't mean that I will pretend all is rosey, overlook poor performances (either by individuals, the team or the manager) or fail to recognise that our start to the season with regards gaining points has not been good. When we're good, I'll say it and therefore when we are poor I will be just as honest. Here's my summary from the Birmingham game: And here's my summary from the Colchester game: Both just an honest report on what I had seen first hand.
  2. Absolutely. As was shown on another thread, there is no groundswell of opinion seeking to remove Pardew, nor is there any evidence of widespread criticism of the new regime, but that doesn't mean we can't be disappointed at our poor start or the performance of players or the team as a whole, nor that we shouldn't voice our opinions on our poor start.
  3. Along with the foot stamping and slow hand claps if they didn't rate the ref's performance. Offering up your opinion before, during and after matches, be it positive, indifferent or negative, has and will always be a part of football. It's the same with every club up and down the country.
  4. Have to agree 100%, but I would also add that people have their own opinion on it and are unlikely to be swayed from their position, no matter how much time is wasted on here trying to do so. However, I would also add that whatever stance people take on this issue then IMHO it doesn't mean they are any less of a supporter (as some are trying to make out) as they are doing it for what they believe are the right reasons (e.g. either a kick up the ar53 or supporting during a bad time).
  5. In which case perhaps you should be sending your pontificating OP via a PM to those people who you think fall into the category (and save us all from your sweeping accusations). You should identify exactly who you think should be barred from commenting on the manager/team for 2 years (although of course it's OK for you to do the same some 18 months earlier;)).
  6. We didn't make the aforementioned establishment this trip (the only time we were in that vicinity, most of the places were out with a power cut!!!). Someone at the Long Gun in Cowboy knows you and said hello, mind;)
  7. I'm afraid to say that I find your OP rather hysterical and your assumption that just because people aren't too pleased about our poor start then they mist therefore be against the regime's rebuilding process as rather hysterical as well. The idea that just because people are giving their own opinion on the tactics and performances of the manager and players it automatically translates in to being non supportive is also somewhat hysterical. I fully support Pardew and I fully support the new regimes efforts in taking us forward, but I don't rate Paterson, think Saturday's performance was poor and think the start of 3 points from 6 games is not good enough.
  8. But with reference to your OP you were certainly slating it/him!!!! I just don't like (a) the hypocrisy whereby you were allowed to slate Wotte 6 months in, yet you are now demanding a two year period from posters on this board, and (b) how you naively assume that just because people have been underwhelmed by some players/performances/results then they must therefore automatically be aginst the new regime or that they cannot accept we're in a rebuilding process. Just because people aren't happy with recent performances and results then I have to say I think you're making one huge (and incorrect) assumption that they are therefore not supportive of the rebuilding process.
  9. I quite agree that Wotte was as complicit as Poortvliet in the fck fest that was the 08/09 season, but given your opposition to Wotte and withdrawal of support, the irony that your OP (exchanging Wotte for Pardew) could so easily have been aimed at you six months ago was not lost on me. After all, whilst you are asking people to go away for two years, you yourself are allowed to withdraw your support after 6 months of a season.
  10. What would you rather we do??? Brush it under the carpet, lie and say we thought he was brilliant??? Football is all about opinions and walking away from the ground, going down the pub or coming on here and saying you thought he was shte is, and has always been, part and parcel of the game. It's as much a part of the game as discussing the good points and what went well. People weren't booing the club, they were booing mainly out of frustration at not seeing a home win. I personally didn't boo, but there's a world of difference between your claim of booing the club and expressing frustration at another poor performance and failure to win at home. Well in your other post it would suggest you are (which also needs to be judged against your very quick lack of support for Wotte). I think you're over reacting here and making a huge assumption if you think that just because people are upset over yesterday's performance they therefore must not be enjoying their Club actually styill being able to play. There's nothing contradictory about being over the moon we still have a Club to support and having a moan and being disappointed about individual performances and results. I think there has been a considerable amount of considered opinion with regards those with an alternative viewpoint to yourself. And the idea that there's constant whingeing because we don't win every game is pure exaggeration. The vast majority of people don't expect us to win every game. I have seen minimal premature judgement of the new regime, from Pardew through to the new guys at the top. Of course, there has been disappointment of our start, questioning of tactics and performances, but that's light years away from not supporting the new regime. Football fans expressing their dismay at a poor start and poor performances is nothing new and it certainly does not mean they are any less of a supporter.
  11. With all due respect you started a thread slating Wotte and saying we shouldn't support him a fortnight after he was in charge, so isn't it a biot rich starting a thread now and having a pop?????
  12. An eminently sensible opinion and one that I have to say I share, as at times I too doubted that we had a "football club" to support this season. But, this being football and all about passion, emotion and opinions, I see nothing inconsistent about having a moan (or giving an opinion on the performance of players/manager or the team as a whole). Suggesting a player is out of his depth, questioning tactics & substitutions, thinking you know better and generally having a moan on here is what supporting a football team is all about (as much as giving support, turning up, cheering the team on and being passionate in your support). Football is not a sterile game, it's all about passion and opinions.
  13. LOL, I was going to put "England or whoever" as quite frankly I've never been bothered to look up who he is or where he comes from as I've always thought he was shte (even when I saw him in the Academy teams). Sad to see someone so out of their depth as not only it is bad for him, but more importantly to me it is bad news for my team. IMHO he is not our answer up front.
  14. Would I be right in thinking that the Polish version of Scrabble has a different scoring system to the English version?

    Ironic

I would have to agree 100%. Of course I'm not happy with the start and I'm not overly impressed with today's performance, but given the total Fckfest that was last year, then I'm more than willing to give the new team some time to turn things around.
  16. I should have probably said that for me the problems are going forward as the support and provision from midfield was poor, even before you got to the woeful Paterson.
  17. Maybe there are all in to some spread betting lark on the first throw in, so we always choose to kick off
  18. As in you nearly died laughing, I hope!!!!!!

    Ironic

You can't beat around the bush, no wins from 6 games and only 4 points is not a good start by any stretch of the imagination. Throw in the -10 and it certainly makes it even worse. I'd like to think we have the players and set up to recover from such a poor start, but there can be no denying that the start so far is anything but good.
  20. And here's the scores on the doors for today (and before anyone moans, I'm thinking positively and reported rather gushingly on our performance last week against Brum). A good start against a side content with a draw who really battened down the hatches when they had 10 players. A decent first half where we should have gone ahead, followed by a second half where we just did not have the nous to eek out a goal. Some of the youngsters were terrible (so god knows who thought they could do it in the Championship) and we looked pretty lacklustre upfront. Davis - 7 - not much to do, but looked as good as ever Thomas - 7 - I wasn't sure he could fill in for Murty, but have to say he impressed me today, particularly the first half. Perry - 7 - A good display, sometimes left with their centre forward when Trottman should have had him Trottman - 7 - First time I've seen him, but impressed (see the bit above losing their centre forward). Harding - 8 - Definitely like the look of him and think he has much to offer Mellis - 5 - Didn't really offer us anything even in the first half where we had control Hammond - 6 - Not really sure, let's leave it there James - 5 - Did he do anything Lallana - 7 - Maybe he's found his level, as this was another good game. However, I'm looking for gials from him and he does lack a cutting edge Lambert - 7 - Feel a bit sorry for him as the midfield was poor and his strike partner was terrible, which brings me on to...... Paterson - 1 (ONE as the videprinter would say) - I'm sure I'll have to eat my words when he goes on to play for England, but he was absolutely diabolical. Did nothing. SUBS: Mills - 4 - Had a good run when he first came on, but that was it. Thomson - 4 - Never gave us anything Schneiderlin - 4 - Propaganda stuff as WGS would say. Some nice passes when under no pressure, but nothing clinical and nothing match changing. For me the problems are upfront, so fingers crossed Papa and Saga can turn it on. A very disappointing performance despite Colchester doing everything to break up the game.
  21. Problem is that we are on a Re-Rewind!!!!!!!!!
  22. He's a comedian making a funny off the cuff comment on a jokey show and you have to pick him up on his failure to grasp property valuations in the 1980's:rolleyes:. I think most of the audience got the jist of what he was saying, so you can go back to Estate Agents Weekly and evaluate your property portfolio. HTH
  23. Even if the two new guys aren't playing I'm predicting a scruffy 1-0 win to kickstart the season. Lambert deflected goal, they'll have one (maybe two disallowed) and we will ride our luck. 18,345. Then we'll be on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. There were some good times (e.g. the WGS period) and some good ideas & initiatives under the man as well (e.g. our commercial, ticketing and corporate initiatives), but to suggest the positives outweighed the negatives is risible. Maybe if you have been out of the loop for the last 5 years you might think that, but two relegations down to the Third Division, bankruptcy and the Club fighting for it's very existence would lead any rational person to the fact that the bad times far outweighed the good ones.
  25. (and Poortvliets!!!!!). Hanging on to an appalling manager solely in the name of stability is madness.
