Why can't we seem to come up with some original tunes and lyrics??? We must have the most boring and unoriginal selection of songs/chants going.
-
Been out of the loop for a bit, but even allowing for offloading a few players wages (and bringing some others in), I still think we would be running at an operational deficit (i.e. running at a loss before player sales). Wouldn't want to be held to a figure, but I would have thought we are being subsidised by a few million a year.
-
I think that's a bit harsh on us as Pardew is moulding the team how he wants it;)
-
Having witnessed the shambolic Revolutionary Coaching Set Up and the devastation it caused, then I think you have to laugh, because the alternative would only be to cry. He was as comical as a clown and the subsequent revelations and ttbits that have recently come out only go to ram home just how out of his depth and how poor he really was. So basically you're arguing that there is/will be no significant difference between Poortvliet and Pardew? If there isn't then I will come back here next summer and eat humble pie (unlike many who went all quiet and shy as the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up tore itself and the Club apart). Now I'm not saying that Pardew is the best thing since sliced bread, but Poortvliet really shouldn't be mentioned in the samed breath as the guy. Even allowing for Wigley, IMHO Poortvliet was by far the worst manager I have seen at the Club in 35 years.

It wouldn't be the end of the world, but I agree it would certainly be bad news. We have to snap out of it and get into positive points ASAP. That's not being unrealistic, not being over demanding or even knee jerk, just an honest assessment that whilst I accept this season is all about consolidation, rebuilding and reversing the trend, we do actually have to start to accumulate points at some point this season.
-
LMFAO, the guy was a total failure whose level would be Blue Square (at best) or something like the Jewson Wessex!!!!! Would love to know who would argue that Poortvliet may be a better option for us given our current position. Any takers??????
-
Fingers crossed you're right, and if they play like they did midweek then surely we will get a win (then again this is Saints we're on about here!!!!). Two recent games where i was in no doubt we would win was the semi against Watford and the first Cup match against Portsmuff at St Mary's. Other games recently I've thought could go either way, whereas those two I knew we were going to win (even had a wager on both, although not the best odds!!!).
-
Well hopefully it will be good news as thought he played well midweek in a side that looked half decent (relatively speaking of course).

And I don't think anyone really is that worried about questions of Le Tiss and/or others. Given the fact that he himself is only too happy to recognise his shortcomings, then I don't think there is any problem discussing them on here. Additionally, Fitzhugh's and others posts on here regarding his dealings with Pinnacle haven't been censored nor castigated as there was a valid question to be asked.

Have to say that stank of bullsht to me at the time as well. :---) The mods have been caught with their pants down on this one. When Nineteen first arrived on the scene (2/3 days after Sundance Beast was banned) the mods were adamant it wasn't the same poster. It then turns out that the mods knew it was Sundance all along and had allowed him to re-register under an amnesty. No wonder it's soooooooooooo easy to get confused on this one:rolleyes:
-
I think you'll find the Fashanu faux pas was made by Sundance Beast and Nineteen Canteen assures us he's not him;) Then again Ponty has assured us that Nineteen Canteen was allowed to re-register after being banned as Sundance Beast and they are one and the same. Are you bullshtting us Ponty:---) Then again, as Sundance Beast sent quite a few of us the following: "You also miss the point that I was banned as The Fourth Bear also was found out to be Flashmanatthecharge who was banned" So with all these comings & goings, bullsht and lies, etc etc etc, it's sooooooooooo easy to get all confused:rolleyes:

Dnepr (can't remember how to spell their full name) from Ukraine (back then the USSR). We played them in a friendly at some point in the late 80's and signed Cherednik and Gotsmanov as a result of them performing well. We wanted to sign Dostoevski, but couldn't get a work permit and it fell through. He topped their scoring charts for the next 8 years and then played out his career at Lokomotiv Test Side.
-
I'm glad you took the time to say that, because I really couldn't be bothered to respond to such banal waffle (i.e. so insightful on the atmosphere, te doesn't attend, knocking those who attend whilst staying away etc etc etc:rolleyes:).

In modern times alongside Matty, the only other player who got more than the odd mention abroad was Beattie. But had a real classic this time. When told we were from Southampton, England, the only two words this guy seemed to know was "Margaret Thatcher". I'm assuming it was the England connection and not him thinking Grantham was close to here:D
-
I have to say I remember it differently as back then it was very much if you're good enough to play, then who you play for had much less importance and didn't think Bully got any stick from hailing from the Third Tier (I may well be wrong, that's just how I perceived it). If anything, I thought it was seen as refreshing that a loyal stalwart who could have moved up a few divisions was willing to help out his team in the lower divisions, yet could still play for England in the World Cup. I think nowadays the lure of the very big money and the huge discrepancy between those in the Top Flight and the "rest" means that players gravitate more to the higher echelons than ever before and therefore it is assumed that only top flight players could/should play for England. A view I find rather parochial and as others have said something that doesn;t impact the Youth Teams and U-21's as much. I accept that for full internationals of "major" countries it would probably be better for them to ply their trade in a higher league, but see nothing wrong with youngsters and/or lesser international players playing one, two or even three divisions down. TBH I think Pardew has every right to be upset and for me this signing was wrong from the word go. Let's just hope we get some money in for him.

Nor is reneging on a bet;) Every person on crutches at SMS is now liable to be ankle tapped:D PS Hope you recover fully (and quickly)

Can you stop posting sensible stuff on here!!!!!! As someone who has spent much time in Newcastle, Then I think I can say they are as fickle and moany as the rest of the footballing supporting fraternity. I stood in the Paddock of the main stand years back in a spartan crowd and I've been there to witness backlashes under Gullit, Roeder, Allardyce, Souness and either Ardiles or Jim Smith (and looking at their first attendance this season they lost something like 16,000 supporters). With the very, very odd exception, most football clubs and their supporters are the same i.e. optimismic, passionate, knee jerk, supportive, whingey and their attendance ebbs and flows along with the relative success and failure of their club. Absolutely!!!!!! And when the Birmingham game is being held up to show we have the worst fans then all I can say is a relatively good attendance combined with some very good support during the game and very good recognition at the end. Of course there were some curses when we conceded, not least because we were dominating the game, but overwhelmingly the support on that night was supportive and positive.

Spiteful!!! LMFAO, for someone who is no wallflower when it comes to calling people idiots etc then I'm surprised you're so precious over someone questioning your belief that this idiot is no troll!!! Then again when you're defending the indefensible, you really should expect some stick. Interesting that you agree with my thoughts and yet you're also only too happy to defend some of the rubbish put up on these threads. How do you work that one out???
-
Absolutely, and I don't think anyone has any problems when people highlight Matty's shortcomings, even if those shortcomings are more than eclipsed by the many positive attributes he has. Additionally I don't think there is any problem questioning Matty's part in trying to keep the Club afloat (as Fitzhugh Fella has often probed in to). But there is a world difference in doing it respectfully and in an honest manner and trolling and being antagonistic in order to satisfy your own inadequacies (than again Ponty & co. don't view it as trolling LMFAO). I think there are many good points in what Cheeky Monkey has said (along with what other posters have said), whereas the local loon on here only posts for effect.
-
Indeed and the recent radio rounds, interviews and tributes from non-Saints supporters show just how appreciative the general footballing public are/were of Matty's skills and general demeanour. I remember growing up and admiring Tony Currie and even Stan Bowles from afar, but I think Matty had an even bigger and wider audience than those two players during his prime.
-
I actually think the loon will find all the attention very theraputic. But of course he's no troll. Loon, yes. Troll, no LOL. Are you sure, he's been telling us he doesn'r have multiple identities (even though Ponty has pointed out that this latest reincarnation of his came about after he was banned as Sundance Beast):D
-
I wonder who the second club is who have had a bid accepted for Rasiak?? Apparently he's already spoken to one of the two clubs who have had a bid accepted and rejected them.
-
Whilst I am a firm believer of getting your own house in order first, the noddy approach highlighted above is just mind blowing. Following on from the Poortvliet revelations in that interview the other day I'm surprised the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up didn't have us down by the Spring. Unbelievable. Forget about financial constraints and any other excuses, it looks as thought the way we approached last season meant we were as good as down before a ball was kicked in earnest.

Indeed, as I said in my first post, due to the sample size, it wouldn't be prudent to exptrapolate out from such a small amount of data. But there could well be a pattern emerging, so I also wouldn't rule it out. His statistics did not back this assertion up: 85% of our goals conceded in the last 25% of the game. against a Premiership average of : 27% of goals scored in the last 17% of the game So if you do accept that our stats could have some meaning, then we are more than twice as likely to concede than those Premiership teams.
