I think Rasmus et al. might have been blinded by his youth career pedigree and Shields' assessment rather than scouting due diligence. At £6m plus a 20% sell on clause he wasn't cheap for Saints as an 18 year old without a single first team appearance. At 19, it's doubtful that he will grow physically, and he's a small fullback in the Prem in 2023. Think of Luke Shaw, exceptional I know, but six foot plus and playing first team football at 16, full England debut at Larios's age replacing Ashley Cole. The kid needs games and deserves time, as all young players do, hope he turns out to be our next competent diminutive full-back, a KWP or Cedric - but clearly not what we needed at the end of August 2022. I would have liked Danny Ings to return for a curtain call, loved watching him for Saints, great feet and timing.
