Last time we came up in 2012 during the summer window we bought Rodriguez (£7m Burnley in Championship - 104/26), Steven Davis (£free Rangers Scots Prem - 193/12), Maya Yoshida (£3m Venlo in Eredivisie - 154/6), Nathanial Clyne (£2.5m Palace in Championship - 94/3), and then the last minute Cortese vanity purchase of Ramirez (£12m Bologna Serie A - 48/6) on deadline day. I know it's a decade on, but Ramirez aside, it proves that it can be done at SFC, this however was when Paul Mitchell was heading up recruitment. Double those prices and aside from GR these are the sort of players our scouts need to find in this window, so the best of the Championship, SPL and the Dutch / Scandi leagues. The worst thing to do would be to overthink, and on past form that's what you'd back them to do, but consolidation on a budget can be done.

Big selling point for Saints in negotiations with Wellington will likely be that we are just over an hour from Waterloo.

Fuck me, if it's going to be DP World or Moonpig they might as well get Le Tissier's daughter-in-law to model it at the launch.

Dr D has provided Saints with a check up from the neck up and a new MOT certificate...

Genuinely sorry to hear this and sending heartfelt condolences and every ounce of positivity and hope to you and the family Noodles. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but the thoughts of a lot of fellow Saints fans are now with you. Rest in peace Elijah, memory hold the door.

Nathan Jones?

My guess is that he became disinterested / disorientated and missed the flight.

Well done CBF - LLSS...

Easy to forget how good a player Ryan Bertrand was for us, could so do with the 2024 versions of Steven Davis, Romeu and Bertrand now. Signed under Koeman £10m from Chelsea aged 24, 214 appearances, and all bar two of his 19 England caps with Saints. Absolute steal.

DP World might well be prophetic in terms of the upcoming season, most weeks.

They are poised with the t-shirts and half and half scarves...

Bloody tragic, sounds like a heart attack, a complete medical rarity in a fit young person, poor kid puts the game fully in perspective - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cv22z9lgdlxo.amp

I’d have gone for one of the Russ playoff t-shirts! Got thousands of those.

For the Blue Harbour wearing schizophrenic Saints fan, who doesn’t want to try, too hard…

Great stuff. I was on a survey round by one of the big vessels with a couple of jocks one time and Ian Turner was working on a pipeline to the side of where we were, about 8 to 10 yards away. First time I'd seen him at Fawley, and I recognised him immediately, but the other two had no reason to. He called over 'can you lob me over that tape mate' (big roll of duct tape on a bench). I obliged, and it bounced once rolled along the ground and went straight through his legs, perfect nutmeg. He smiled, but had clearly lost a bit of form from 76

It might be that Lowe actually got something right after all. Assuming that its just a stand expansion with Barr's bolt on used circa £40-50m, but if it also involved recladding / redeveloping the stadium infrastructure (which it should) getting on for £60-70m I would imagine. We'd likely have to be nailed on top half and finding / selling a Lavia each summer before the green light from Serbia.

I worked with him briefly there in the late 80s early 90s on a couple of the big projects, when Esso were investing in the plant. Quiet affable bloke.

Another member of our 1976 FA Cup winning team is selling their medal, this time Ian Turner. Turner kept us in that final in the jittery first half with reaction saves from Gordon Hill and Gerry Daly. 71 now, I hope he achieves a high price for it. Pre auction bidding already at £11k - https://bidlive.grahambuddauctions.co.uk/auctions/8939/srgrah10072/lot-details/21134175-05f5-4069-b5a6-b18100f60432
