  1. I remember when we signed Boruc from Fiorentina for a nominal fee. He was 32 and with something like 350 first team games and 60 caps. Mad as a box of frogs, but first choice under Pochettino and on his day exactly what you want in a keeper - commanding, strong, and great craft. Thought he was the best keeper of our recent Premier League era. Prone to a serious brain implosion in about one of every six games, but his type in this side now would likely be a huge improvement if we are serious about being in contention.
  2. Some cynical people are saying it’s all about money, but its probably to do with social awareness and cohesion. They deserve a big hand.
  3. Last season we conceded 73 goals in the league and good many of these were down to having Bazunu and McCarthy as our first team keepers. No team in the Championship conceded that many despite playing eight more games, so we need a rather stark improvement defensively to be competitive. At the end of last season I thought goalkeeper needed to be a priority position for this summer, and a good indicator of Sport Republic's pledge to learn from their mistake in using Saints as a work experience project - a canary in the coalmine. I am hopeful that having come in recently Wilcox and Martin are now aware of our frailty and will seek funds to address it before the close of the window, a more pragmatic approach to Ankersen's vanity in avoiding the obvious. Bazunu is a youngster, and if the club think he's a prospect genuine support for him would be to either protect him within the first team squad as number two to a solid experienced mentor, or loan in out to build confidence and technique. Top level keepers need confidence, craft, and physical strength / presence and currently GB appears to be lacking all three. These attributes might come in time but ideally we need them there when we kick off against Sheffield Wednesday in less than two weeks or very soon afterwards.
  4. I'm still predicting a at least a 9.5 by September, all in!
  5. I meant £12.5m to be fair. He’s not worth more than that and I think Swansea know it.
  6. Not really a fan of the Chairman Mao haircuts but I don’t really keep up with fashion these days.
  7. If that happened Sunday league the morning after a lock in session the ‘keeper’ would never have lived it down 😂
  8. That would be a superb result for Saints in two ways - Pareto optimal!
  9. If it comes to it Swansea will add on another £500k and Saints will pay it.
  10. World Snooker Championship?
  11. Agree. Retaining him in this league likely to depend on who goes out the door before him in terms of the big money draws. Hopefully that’s the SR strategy. Would be brilliant to retain Livramento, Alacaraz, Sulemana and Tella and bring in players like Manning alongside. Find a target man who can finish with that kind of attacking intent supporting them and we will be in for a very exciting season.
  12. Of course, and results are everything in top class sport, but he’s likeable. An attribute not to be taken lightly when considering the personalities (and lack of) in our recent history.
  13. Speaks very well and comes over as earnest and thought out. Night and day compared to Jones.
  14. Get Rasmus on the negotiation, the goldmine effect - £35 million and a buyback / sell on clause.
  15. I don't doubt that - filthy swine!
  16. Pay per view?
  17. Don’t tell them your name, Pike!
  18. If Sport Republic have any ambition they'll erect a statue of Les Reed outside of St Marys to provide a bench mark reminder for their lofty ambitions. So with Ted Bates Itchen and Les Chapel, you could have Adam Blackmore before and after weight loss Kingsland and Northam for inspiration. Get it done Dragan!
  19. Tell you what, with Ronnie Edwards paired with Ronnie Pickering at the back, no fucker is getting past!
  20. Only place they did was Rangers, and I think he was using sign language.
  21. 45 grade 3 camels and 500 barrels of crude oil. Decent return all things considered.
  22. Adam Armstrong hat trick, plus an 85 pass special ending in a back-heel from the resurgent Jack Beckenbauer Stephens. Easy.
  23. Plus a night out with Rasmus Ankersen.
  24. This is shaping up for an 9.5 window and we've only bought two players so far
  25. The initial image of the Brazilian Alan Bennett that came to mind was Lyanco in a duffel coat and National health specs nasally droning on about Mrs Thrupwaite’s rheumatism! On balance I would have probably preferred that to him attempting to play football for SFC.
