  1. I haven't read the book yet but I did read the excerpt on the Amazon link I posted above. Have you read his book or the excerpt? He certainly is a well-respected economist.
  2. I saw a very interesting interview with Anatole Kaletsky this morning. He has just published a book 'Capitalism 4.0' in which he talks about the latest recession and the reasons for it. I haven't read the book yet, but I did find this interesting excerpt: http://www.amazon.com/reader/1586488716?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=si_aps_sup&qid=1278841851&page=random#reader_1586488716 He is an editor at the Times, so hardly a revolutionary . He posits that Regan and Thatcher had a lot to answer for and he also praises Gordon Brown for being the first to realise that state support for the banking system was required to avoid a major meltdown in global finance. I'm looking forward to reading his book.
  3. Follow [you, follow me]
  4. Thank you. All I have to do now is to remember to click the calendar daily to see if any of my 'favourites' are there
  5. Thanks but I know that. I was talking about the appearance of a birthday on the main forum page. For example, how did people know it was Duncan's birthday today? Once upon a time we all knew (whether we wanted to or not!) But thanks for trying to help
  6. Where can I see whose birthdays are on any date? There used to be a little mention at the bottom of the front page of the old site but I can't see anything on the new version? Or is my eyesight failing me
  7. Happy Birthday Duncan! And good luck with EVERYTHING you are doing.
  8. I suppose it depends on the local council, but certainly up here we can get them removed for free.
  9. Just had a re-listen of ELP 'Pictures at an Exhibition' after hiearing them interviewed on Radio 5 Live
  10. Doesn't take too long to pick up a pizza, some beer and a few packets of crisps? Whereas, no doubt, Mrs H trawls the aisles looking for healthy food and bargains and this takes time.
  11. Yes -I'm old enough I saw them live at Southampton Guildhall way back when. Awesome. I also saw Hawkwind and Curved Air there - anyone remember them?
  12. To hear that our beloved and much worshipped HMRC have decided to appeal? You know what - I've just noticed that Duncan opened the thread at 7:47 - does he crew that aircraft I wonder? Spookeh!
  13. Greek yoghurt is usually made from sheep's milk. Natural yoghurt has live culture (bio yoghurt) and is very good for the gut. Sometimes you get probiotic yoghurt which fights bacteria in the gut. Fromage frais is a curd cheese (literal translation is 'fresh cheese') and there's hardly any fat in it so it's very healthy and good for low fat diets. It's a good alternative to cream on fruit etc. Creme fraiche is soured cream. HTH!
  14. And a year tomorrow since Duncan started this thread! Happy Birthday Pompey Saga
  15. Surely there are wage caps in the other European Leagues whose countries are members of the EU?
  16. Watched Das Boot yesterday.
  17. Loads OK for me
