  1. I have no idea. 'Twas what they were saying on the radio this morning. I dunno.
  2. I particularly liked 'Wrist Marketing'. I wonder which hand?
  3. Oh poor love! And she's got nowhere else to live either, has she
  4. I already said I go by train whenever I can. I did feel sorry for the man on the radio this morning who was saying that, with Stansted planned to exceed Heathrow in size (and therefore, I suppose, in the number of flights) the air quality over his house would be appalling. He's already suffering being under a flightpath and that will only get worse if the expansion goes ahead. Poor guy - he'd moved out to the countryside before Stansted started to get busy and now he can't move away again because no-one will want to buy his house and he can't get compensation. He said, mind you, not my interpretation and I don't know if what he says is actually true.
  5. I just hope it wasn't skates he was multiplying. There's too many of them already.
  6. Could the crim be here?
  7. Well, I refer you good gentlefolk again to the news that a director of W H Ireland is the owner / director of Carphone Warehouse who's just resigned from that esteemed establishment because of perceived share irregularities - allegedly. He claimed his 'oversight' was an administrative error - this from a man who's a director / shareholder in a stockbroking firm. Well I never........
  8. Oops started to reply then saw your edit. I'll come clean - at the time of said trip, I was living and working in Buckinghamshire so I was a tad closer to Heathrow than I am now. And I had to see a supplier (for my dancewear shop) and get back to teach a class in the evening so it was a bit Kick B*llocks and Scramble, I'll admit. However, these days, AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE, I never fly - ANYWHERE - and only drive if the logistics of going by train render a train trip uneconomic in terms of my time. I love 'flying' BTW, having done a lot of glider flying and a couple of hot air balloon trips. Waits for the inevitable 'hot air' comments
  9. Lowe Holdings includes a few of electrical engineering companies from what I can see: 1. Lowe & Oliver, based in Oxford 2. R F Webb, Head Office in EASTLEIGH (not Shirley :smt102 3. J Brand () London and Runcorn, Cheshire 4. DataPath based in N. Somerset.
  10. Err I don't live in Southampton, sweetheart
  11. Oxford does have a regional airport, of sorts. But I bet you know that already
  12. And it'll give a few coppers another chance to put the boot in
  13. Everyone's circumstances are different, of course. But for me, it's a darned sight quicker to drive to Oxford to catch a train than it is to drive to any regional airport. However, I concede your point about check-in times. As I said earlier, I don't fly now on principle and the trip I was referring to was a few years ago.
  14. At least he's thinking about alternatives whereas as you continue to adopt a 'I'm going to find fault with every alternative suggestion because, basically, I don't give a sh*t about the environment in the future for my children / grandchildren. I'm alright Jack' attitude.
  15. Have you factored in check-in for flights? A few years ago I had to go to Manchester and decided to fly. The time it took to drive to Heathrow, check in a couple of hours before the flight and then get a taxi from Manchester to Salford probably took longer than a train trip would have. I don't fly now - anywhere.
  16. Or another way to do it is to up the price of fuel significantly and scrap the VED. The more you drive, the more you pay.
  17. And why would that be? Unless she works for Ryanair I think some searching questions need to be asked about the security at Stansted. Supposing they'd been terrorists......
  18. Well I've just found a bizarre link between W H Ireland (Rupey's brokerage outfit) and Carphone Warehouse where the director named in the link below has just had to resign after shenanigans with his shares  http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/markets/article3793037.ece And, from another article: Who are the new investors? The 'new' shareholders consist of a consortium led by former Tory treasurer Lord Marland, and include Carphone Warehouse co-founder David Ross and City businessmen Rupert Lowe and David Whelan. http://www.investorschronicle.co.uk/Columnists/SmallWorld/article/20080714/042edbc8-4f55-11dd-8727-0015171400aa/Whats-happening-at-WH-Ireland.jsp
  19. One of the group, speaking on the radio this morning, said that she worked full time and used her annual leave for 'events' such as this one.
  20. Oh dear You were comparing membership of the Labour Party to membership of the BNP. I was quite simply and obviously pointing out that membership of the BNP implies empathy with racist views. I wasn't talking about you. If it's any consolation to you, I actually expressed my discomfort at the implication that some BNP members might lose their jobs because of their political affiliations. However, I doubt that the BNP, if ever elected (god forbid), would be so tolerant. They would surely proscribe membership of left leaning parties. And for your further education, 'bint', although derived from the arabic word for daughter, is, in this country, a slang word likely to cause offence. "Naive female, often perceived as stupid". I don't think that description applies to me, quite frankly. You see, the difference between the liberal left and the rabid right is that the LL tries hard not to cause offence. The opposite is often the case with the RR.
  21. However there are major differences. 1. I'm open about my membership of the Labour Party. I don't hide on a database and then panic if my political loyalties are exposed. 2. I'm not racist. HTH Oh and BTW - I'm a woman, not a bint. You, however, are well described by your username.
  22. There's another one now  http://www.laplandwestmidlands.co.uk/index.html However, it looks like it might not get a licence http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/7767748.stm
  23. Oh lordy lordy! I remember that place so well. Best apple pies ever
  24. I think we're two prongs of a fork WC But critics of the government bang on about our 'national debt' and I'm merely pointing out that we're not the worst offenders.
  25. That's interesting. The US national debt is a staggering 70% of its GDP. Makes our 'less than 50%' look quite benign really
