Worst ref performances involving Saints
Sarnia Cherie replied to warsash saint's topic in The Saints
I have to put Mike Dean above Anthony Taylor. I will never forget his refereeing 'skills' in the 9-0 defeat by Manchester United. Dean could not believe his luck when he was able to show Jankewitz a red card seconds into the game. I feel many refs would have taken a keen young lad playing his first big away game to one side and had a sharp word in his ear and a yellow card. But not Dean. Having a taste for it he went on to show Saints a second red later in the game by falling for Martial's dying duck routine. We should have had a penalty and Ayew shown a red card on Saturday because he had a hold on Tall Paul's shirt and clearly denied him a chance to score. When Fraser held on to Vardy in the same way but for a shorter time, out comes the red card and a point to the penalty spot. Just to rub salt in the wound, Ayew, who should not have been on the pitch scores the ruddy winner!!! -
You get zero luck when you are a team like Wolves as we know only too well. We should have had a penalty and a red card shown to Ayew yesterday for pulling Tall Paul's shirt for that length of time, but nothing. The ref couldn't get his red card out fast enough for Fraser doing the same thing but for a shorter time. As if that wasn't bad enough, bloody Ayew, who should have gone off, scores the winner.

Cannon fodder I suppose. Putin has lost a lot more military personnel than he ever envisaged so he has turned to Kim Jung-Un. That's a worrying friendship.

Jumping on him and throwing her legs around his waist at the end of the dance and clinging on to him like a limpet was ok then was it? I believe she has previous too. Wasn't she the dancer who finished Seann Walsh's relationship?
-
What would she rather have? Autistic adults being able to have these 'reasonable adjustments' so they can go to work, boost their self esteem and help the economy or be unemployed and on benefits?
-
David Icke would get a thumbs up from Matt Le Tissier. They would find lots to talk about.
-
Are Ian Branfoot and Steve Wigley busy? Any port in a storm or better the devil you know? (Tongue in cheek in case anyone thinks I'm being serious).
-
I haven't thought much of him since he made himself look a complete prat with his embarrassing reaction to the headbutt incident with Shar at Newcastle. His football is nothing to get excited about either. Do SR actually watch these players before they waste millions on them?
-
Just that really. Both Man City and the Premier League are claiming a win in this matter. Can someone please explain what this means for the Premier League and especially for the Saints. Thank you.

RM mentions 'narrative' quite a lot after the matches. Whatever has gone wrong in the game and that's usually a fair bit, he knows this will be the topic of the supporters' 'narrative'. I find his manner patronising on the subject of the fans opinions. As if he is patting us all on the head and humouring us because, of course, he knows better.
-
I can't abide Jamie Carragher, so one-sided where Liverpool are concerned. Phil Jones was on last week. He has all the charisma of a cold rice pudding. The best pundit for me is Danny Murphy. Unbiased and really knows his football.

Jhon Duran won September's goal of the month for a 25 yard screamer. Does it matter if it's a showstopper or a tap in as long as it goes in the sodding net! Does Russell read or does he just gaze at pictures of Pep?
-
It's ok of you're good at it but few teams are. I notice Jordan Pickford only plays out from the back if his defence are in acres of space otherwise he takes no chances and kicks the long ball. In the Euros he was the top of the list by quite a margin for goalies hammering it down the pitch.
-
If only. How much longer does RM have to watch us gift goals by playing the way we do until the stubborn so and so makes a change of direction? If he persists then there is only one direction for him and that's out of the door.
-
Quite a few then!

I remember putting a spanner in their title dreams at the end of the 22/23 season with a 3-3 draw. Will lightening strike twice at the Emirates???
-
As a supporter for just over 50 years I have learnt to hope for the best but expect the worst. Arsenal at the Emirates has massacre written all over it but I shall hope for one of those out of the blue results against the big teams that we have pulled out of the bag before.
-
There was a time when a match against Bournemouth, home or away, was a reliable 3 points for us. Watching last night's match and seeing how far above us they now are was hard to take. Didn't RM see what the rest of us could see that the team he sent out in the first half were woeful? Why wait until half-time when we are 3-0 down and the damage is done before making changes? Yes, we were a bit better in the second half but still not good enough to overturn another loss. I feel totally fed up this morning.

Maybe you don't know as many Man U fans as I do.
-
The worst result for Man U last season was winning the FA Cup. After a poor season, even by their diminishing standards, they were the underdogs against City. Had United lost then I believe Ten Hag would have been sacked. With the FA Cup Ten Hag won a stay of execution but surely they must be sharpening up the gallows at Old Trafford now.

I'm not surprised you have no idea who he is. He hasn't done much since he arrived.
-
Sad but very true. I never expected to be wondering where the points are coming from In September!
-
You can take the manager out of Southampton but...................................😂
-
Spot on as usual. I felt so upbeat when Dibling scored in the opening minutes and hoped we would build on that. BBD missing such a good chance to put some space between us and Ipswich went to waste. I didn't expect to be thinking about 6 pointers this early in the season but here we go again.
-
How many chances did our strikers have to kill this game? As for BBD he is beginning to get on my nerves. Just counting down the minutes to celebrate our first win then a jammy equaliser. Cheesed off.
