  1. That was a major blunder by Margaret Thatcher. She should have insisted that money made from the sale of council properties was ploughed back into building more local authority homes. As it was that money has gone, God knows where. Years back councils in Liverpool, faced with hundreds of derelict 2 up. 2 down, terraced houses, gave local people the chance to buy one for £1. Many of those people secured loans from the council to renovate their houses. I can't see why something like that could not be done today. It provides people with a home of their own, improves an area and often, reduces crime.
  2. I rest my case.
  3. As soon as women's football is on here come the usual suspects with the usual remarks. Women's football is women's football and men's football is men's football and never the twain shall meet. Vive la difference.
  4. It will just be me. I am way older than my Dad was when that news was announced.
  5. I stand corrected. Wrong Johnny!
  6. Chelsea have played around 43 weeks of football. As for FIFA they made £2b so of course they will see it as a success.
  7. America should not be allowed anywhere near our national sport. Trashy and tawdry from start to finish. Far too much money in it these days. Ridiculous wages, huge transfer fees and obscene prize money. I remember my Dad who was footy mad going through the roof when Johnny Giles was the first player to be paid £100 a week. He went on and on about how many hours he would have to drive his bus to get that. Just as well he can't see how FIFA are ruining the once humble game of football.
  8. In the late 50's, 'Splish, Splash' by Charlie Drake (youngsters will have to look him up). The song was every bit as naff as the title.
  9. No you don't and that's a fact. One of my daughters lost a young colleague in the Air India crash. These sudden accidents make you appreciate every day.
  10. Killed alongside his brother and 2 weeks after he got married. You just never know what's in store, do you. Make the most of each day. Their poor families. RIP.
  11. I never rated him much. Woefully unfit, puffing like a steam train after a short time on the pitch. I wish him well but I am not sorry he's gone. We need to set our sights far higher than the Tall Paul's of this world.
  12. And me. Seen them live 3 times. Not quite the same since Keith Flint died, not for me anyway.
  13. And me. Seen them live 3 times. Not quite the same since Keith Flint died, not for me anyway.
  14. A friend of mine was an air hostess for BA many years ago. From time to time she was asked to help out on another airline. She flatly refused to work on 2. Aeroflot and Air India. Neither had good enough safety and maintenance for her peace of mind.
  15. And sat right next to his brother, who died. I was pleased the BBC reporter was turned away from the hospital. He was probably going to ask him an inane question like, 'How do you feel?'
  16. Just put a post after at the same time. He's for sale for £40m as he doesn't feature in Pep's Grand Plan apparently. Rangers bound perhaps? 2 idiots together, if so.
  17. With his love of anything City RM might be first in the queue to buy Grealish who is up for sale at £40m.
  18. My Scottish son-in-law is still laying quietly in a dark room. 😂
  19. Have an injury list as long as your arm, win a trophy and get shown the door. Nice.
  20. Maybe managers will have the balls to get rid of those players who think they are above the club. Enrique got rid of Mbappe with his toxic attitude and put his faith in young, hungry players and now look. So often the troublemakers think they are sitting pretty because of the clubs need for their footballing skills. Pogba always gave me the idea he thought he was bigger than Man U and Arteta had his problems with Aubameyang and Ozil doing as they pleased. PSG are a refreshing example of how the prima donnas with attitude can be offloaded and not missed.
  21. Has all the credentials for a spell at St. Mary's.
  22. Bet Spurs can't wait.
  23. The penalties for drunken drivers is far too lenient. They cause utter carnage but get handed down a few years inside then come out to resume living their lives. Too soft like a lot of things in this country.
  24. And just to add another kick up the arse Saints leave with yet another embarrassing record to their name. Lowest points from home games ever in the Premier League.
  25. It's been a good season for the so-called underdogs. I like that.
