Critchley and Gerrard know each other from Liverpool u18 and u23s. Still leaving a mid table championship managers job for an assistant role at a mid table PL side is hardy a step forward in his career
-
On the face of it a very good signing, but I think the same was said when Villa signed Buendia, Digne, Bailey and Ings last summer. Also added Coutinho mid season and finished an impressive 14th. He'll also turn 30 next season
-
Was worse than that. 14th. A mere 5 points ahead of us - when we could only muster a mere 5 points in the last 12 games. Gerard did an average job, nothing more. You're right though, the likes of Ings, Buendia, Bailey and Digne have all flattered to deceive for the best part of 120 million

Hopefully the majority of these latest transfer rumours are bullshit. Was getting my hopes up with the coaching shakeup, to then see links with Harry Wanks for 25 mill, some polish keeper who is allegedly 'one for the future' and Ryan Fredericks. We need players who can improve us right now, not more average squad fillers. Impressive to see what Villa are doing. I dont expect us to be throwing that sort of money around, but hopefully we can start seeing some quality links soon

Like the sound of this. I have images of a Serbian task force dangling players agents over a high rise balcony until their client signs for us 😂

A 5 year deal 🤯

Much of a muchness between Lyanco, Stephens and Bednarek. All three are very very average for PL standards (Bednarek the better imo). In fact, Salisu the last few months hasnt been much better but obviously has a higher ceiling that the other three. Ideally we would sell all three in the summer but thats not going to happen. Would look move Bednarek and Stephens on and think we could get decent value for both. Bednarek been linked with a few Serie A sides and his international experience is a big selling point. I could see Stephens getting picked up by a top Championship side or even one of the promoted sides. Still dont understand why we opted for Lyanco over Worrall, although likely due to finances. If Forest dont go up I would go back in for him.

Major revamp needed - but what are our priorities?

Its clear we're not sacking Ralph, so failing that he needs two new coaches to support him. Davis and Watson is honestly a pisstake for a PL team. On the pitch (in order of priority) - two CFs (we badly need goals and it is almost always the difference between relegation and survival), a new GK (will make a world of difference to have somebody who inspires confidence to the defence and has good distribution), two new CBs to compete with Salisu and not be squad fillers (although if we were offered a silly amount for Salisu, I would sell him - his hype has taken a big hit in the last few months), a new no.10, a new DCM to replace Romeu who will act as an able replacement, a new winger, -
Thankfully the last 90 minutes to endure this season. You can amost guarantee a Vardy or Maddison goal. Hopefully we can sneak a draw, although not holding much hope. Looking to next season I would go with - McCarthy KWP Salisu Lyanco Small Armstrong JWP Romeu Redmond Adams Armstrong
-
Evan N'Dicka at the other end looked very good too. We were linked with him before but no chance hes leaving the Europa League winners for a bottom 6 PL side
-
He did leave at the right time. But at 37 hes still better than many of our midfield options - Diallo, Smallbone, Djenepo, Moi. Sad state of our recruitment/academy in recent years
-
The sky cameras showed him talking to former team mate Harvey Elliott on the pitch right after the final whistle 🤷🏼♂️
-
I dont mind targeting one of those 'tino type' players per window as we also need to look longer term. But you're right, we need 5/6 PL quality players to come in as starters for next season. A bit of physicality would be greatly appreciated also
-
Had high hopes for Diallo after we beat Liverpool last season and he marshalled Thiago superbly. He was dreadful tonight, couldnt even control the ball. Dont know what he offers as he doesnt seem good enough defensively or going forward. Seen him enough now to put him into that pot of Moi, Djenepo, Smallbone etc who arent good enough for us if we have top half ambitions. I've always been worried about our GK and defensive options, but the midfield doesnt excite me either. In fact with us only being left with Adams/Armstrong up front, I'm worried about our whole team 🙃
-
Like when he tried to lob it over Origi on the edge of his own box and got a lucky foul 🤦🏽♂️
-
Tbh you've summed up Ralph and our squads big flaw in a single post. We're great at having a single gameplan and if the stars align we can look very good on our day. However, that very rarely happens. You're always going to have curve balls come at you in the PL. Teams will change formations, personnel, tactics and a manager/group of players need to adapt and be versatile enough to react to that. The better teams can do that. We're incapable of that and that is a damning indictment on a manager who has been here for quite a few years
-
Not thrashed 😂, rightly hes getting pelters for suggesting that we should be happy with that
-
Good to hear
-
They'll probably be patting themselves on the back after that. Happy days lads we got the narrow defeat that we hoped for. The negative mentality at the club starts at the top - get rid of Ralph and about 6/7 of that starting lineup and we might be getting somewhere for next season
-
Dont even give this shower of shite the dignity of a lap of honour. Absolutely gutless. Deciding to have a go in the last five minutes is taking the piss out of the fanbase
-
What a pathetic performance this is. Get a goal and then just sit back and hope for the best. Its Liverpools 2nd team, our last home game and we've absolutely nothing to lose. Have a fucking go!! No doubt RH will talk about how we matched the mighty Liverpool for 65 minutes. Joke club
-
Thats what happens when you spend some money to strengthen your team. We can only dream of that. Gap will only get bigger unless we have a reset in the summer window
-
Emmanuel Dennis will have plenty of interest following Watfords relegation. Seem to recall that we were interested when he was at Bruges. Thought he looked very good in a poor Watford team. Could be a good replacement for Long
-
Out Forster, Stephens, Bednarek, Vokins, Ramsay, Djenepo, Long, Walcott In Starting GK, two CBs, DM, no10, two CFs
