I think the comparisons come from the abuse from social media towards some black players, which is unacceptable. It still highlights we have issues in this country, whilst not being as bad as some nations still should be happening.

Yeah the booing makes me wonder what people who do it think it will achieve. I think it will stay, and it doesn’t bother me as such, it is part of the game, along with the fan rivalry and singing of songs, just certain aspects have gone too far on racist/homophobic stuff. And that was always there in the background, and had to be accepted years gone by, and thankfully we now live in a world where shit is called out for what it is. I remember in around 2010 and I was working near Clapham, and the stuff in Egypt and similar countries was kicking off rising up against certain regimes, and I thought then the power of the world has shifted, in part to the easy spread of information the internet/social media has permitted. As bad as I find social media (I’m not on any platform apart from LinkedIn and hell knows why I’m on there either, other than jobs really), there are some really powerful and good stuff it has supported & achieved.

Yeah, the not taking the knee thing/racists is just ridiculous in think, doesn’t need to be synonymous, and people think different things for loads of different reasons. I’m not so much for taking the knee, but doesn’t bother me if people want to.

Your opinion I guess. If a black person at work was in a meeting, and someone started making monkey noises, would you expect to continue the meeting and deal with it later? I agree that is an extreme analogy but it is effectively the same thing. Whilst the players may not have heard it this time, and some actually may have done so, it has happened before when they could, I for one wouldn’t continue, I’d walk off.

Nah, I think Bales is right what he said (may have been earlier in the write up), about just walking off or banning the nation from competition. I dont understand why nations dont walk off, with an automatic victory for the abused team. If it happens a second time, they are banned from that competition. I just dont see how people would continue doing it if that happened.

I haven’t always agreed with stuff you post, but I do with this. It matters little if we play someone out of position if they are performing better than the natural incumbent for the role. Although I dont think Perrault has done so bad, if KWP is a better option for the opposition, then why not - that said, if Perraud doesn’t play, he cant improve. I wonder v WHU we will see Perraud back, a bit less light weight than KWP?

Yeah, I’m not sure we can do the buy the youngest keeper thing. I see sense in getting a younger keeper to fight for 2/3rd choice, and haven’t we been strongly looking at one from the lower leagues? That makes sense to me. I’d hope we can do this in Jan, as much as I’m ok with McCarthy being 2nd choice, I’m really uncomfortable with him being No1, even for a season.

Yep, i get why we kept on existing keeper on a new contract, either would be ok as 2nd choice, so I’m ok with McCarthy doing so. I did wonder if Fraser moves on in Jan if we do this deal with SJ, maybe 6 month loan to WBA, with us paying most the wages.

And whilst the media is one source of hearing about stuff, it doesn’t have too be exclusive, does it. And you dont know what I am following, you simply cant make that judgement, can you. Thanks for your reasoned response. Yeah the game was good and I thought we showed we had learnt stuff about controlling the game, was a good performance. I haven’t been to an England match in about 20 years, 2-0 home win v Georgia I think before the 98 World Cup, think Shearer got one.
