We want him next season when we swap places with Bompey.
-
I really didn’t. We don’t know we are trying to buy him. We don’t know if he is injured or how long he is injured for. We may be buying someone else. Other than that, great points 👍
-
Why do you feel we can’t replace Vesty? We are getting on with it as we speak. If we sign his replacement will you feel stupid for being reactionary?
-
Have The Athletic just suggested we’ve told Villa it’s £50m which they are not wanting to pay?
-
Jeez you continue to overlook the fact we are buying a CB, is that as it doesn’t fit your agenda?
-
Why are we searching for pennies? We have some money, not as much as some, but we’ve spent a chunk this summer and are actively searching for more players. You tend to come across as wanting the club to fail, like you’d be happy if they did as it would justify your morose position. Up to you I guess but I’d hate to feel like I was always looking on the bad side of life. Brian.

Well, we dont have a bottomless pit, you know that as well as I do, and they are plugging more pressing gaps. Not ideal, and maybe youre right, but we may just hang in there. Anyhow, I thought Redmond was the new Henry, or something...

Not sure I agree, Moussa has had plenty of chances, irrespective of Redmond, and failed to improve in 2 years. The failure is we still have both at the club in my opinion, but imagine that will be addressed next summer. Along with the GK’s.
-
Does it matter who is right or wrong in the grand scheme of things - people have different view, so what! What matters to me is one way or another, whether that be Ralph staying and fixing this, or he is sacked, that it is fixed and we start playing better and getting results. Although I'd happily take a few shit performances if we win them right now. I agree the rot must stop, it is easy for this to carry on from last season. I recall season before last, Sheffield utd had a dogshit 2nd half of the season, it carried on, and we all know how that panned out. This is my concern, and I'd be giving Ralph maybe 8 games, if not much different, I would pull the trigger. Not time just yet for me, but not long either.
-
We did have this, and Armstrong whilst being ok in this role, also got caught out a number of times, with at least one of the occasions he ran too much with the ball that lead to a goal, cant recall who it was against though. I think that is ok to try, but their primary job is to shield, something I think we lacked since Morgan and Victor.
-
Exactly how I saw this, also to add it’s not like the ball was fired in leaving no time for McCarthy to come, it was a slow stopping header back in from outside the box, he had a perfect view and plenty of time to claim that. Salisu maybe could have tracked back, but pretty sure he would have expected the keeper to be rushing out to pluck it out of mid air. For me, this one is on the keeper. Most Sunday league keepers would be claiming that.
-
Fair point about Moussa, but he has had 2 years here already and should be making far better decisions. Im really not convinced he will make here.

I also didnt think Moussa helped out, many times Perraud wanted to overlap and Moussa came inside and ignored him. The best move came when Perraud played Moussa through via a 1-2, with Moussa failing to cut it back to either Che or Perraud, and we got a corner.

Forster or McCarthy, who's your No. 1 keeper this season?
Billy the Kidd replied to JWade's topic in The Saints
Do we know for certain McCarthy has been offered a deal? Its been rumoured for a while but can’t find anything for sure. Id be amazed if he has and if we have offered him one, I’m not sure how to feel. I was thinking he may be ok for a few years as a number two, but I think we need to get rid of him and FF and start again. If Ralph has sanctioned a new deal I think his position needs serious consideration. -
It wasnt Ralphs fault the goal came within 2 mins of the re-start and even he must have thought, FFS, not this again. But it was his choice to pick, IMO, the worst of 2 very poor keepers, and I dont really blame Salisu for leaving the ball thinking our keeper would get it, I’d argue 19 other keepers in the league would have at least tried to get the ball, seeing as he could see Richarlison was hovering - really poor keeping. But the other bit I dont get is that Ralph didnt react in those following 15 mins - fair enough they scored when we started to get back in the game, but in honesty they could have taken the lead prior, such was their dominance. So, to say I get his point once we had got back in the game was slightly irrelevant for me, as yes I can see the logic, but he got to that point with a bit of luck that his inactivity in the preceding 15 mins hadn’t caused us to go behind. And yes, Theo coming off, along with Djennepo for Tella and S Armstrong was a more obvious move, and even if Oriol had to come off, he could still have put Diablo on for him then. All ifs, buts, and maybe’s - but Ralph is paid to get these things right, and I’m afraid his last 6 months are showing he is in danger of not being able to stem this tidal wave we seem to be on. I actually wonder if it is stubbornness or arrogance, as I fail to believe he isn’t tactically capable.

Is it time for Ralph to change our fomation?
Billy the Kidd replied to Teddeer's topic in The Saints
I still think the subs are part of the problem, Ralph appears not to be proactive in seeing games slipping away, he is famed for making changes far too late. Yesterday was another example of this, and he doesn’t use the subs to change the shape or impact in the game. KWP was an obvious choice, as was getting our 2 attacking midfielders changed as both were so poor. Djeneppo occasionally got into good spaces, but far too often failed to play the over lapping Perraud in and lost possession and Theo failed to do anything of note. -
What are the odds of another 0-9 defeat 😂 May stick a pound on that, I hope Ralph is concerned and thinks he may need to change tactics for this one. I think we will play ok and still lose and as it will be a battling point people will be a little happier with the loss, which won’t be so bad if we get something from the game after.

Is it time for Ralph to change our fomation?
Billy the Kidd replied to Teddeer's topic in The Saints
Is it totally this though? It isn’t like the opposition don’t know all week before the game how we are going to start, so they should be more prepared for that, yet a lot of first half’s we are more than ok. Im not sure I have the answer as to why or how, but more concerning is it doesn’t look like to chap we pay millions to know and fix it has anymore of an idea than any of us on here. Dies anyone recall the formation of the Chelsea game when Tuchel first joined them, I think we drew and we played pretty decent the whole game. I thought he changed formation for that. -
Nah we will be fine, i mean what’s the worst that can happen 🤣
-
I agree - last season I could understand as our bench was pretty pants, but this season it is his first 11 and his subs on the bench.
-
I think there are likely lots of good coaches out there that may be able to get a better tune out of our team. I’m still hoping Ralph can, and that today was just our usually Goodson trip, but not certain.
-
Ralph: "I did think about changing but the players found the way they were playing in the first half - but we needed a goal. I wanted to change ten mins after HT but we showed that we were back in the game. The wrong changes can make it worse." He sounds confused, like he doesn’t know what to do, and cant do the basics at the moment. Pretty concerning.
