Still forgetting the 'I' chaps.

Which is weird because we've been told over and over that the complete opposite would have been applicable had we not left the EU.

Meanwhile, 2.5m doses of the very same jab are sitting in France and Germany unused - presumably because they said it was shit, but then changed their minds and are finding it difficult to convince their citizens! The joined up central EU policy seems to be working just fine. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1405651/EU-news-Ireland-coronavirus-vaccine-Emmanuel-Macron-Angela-Merkel-AstraZeneca-latest-vn

"Local traveller"
-
Really, you can't see what is racist? Let's highlight in more detail for you : Local travellers took over a pub near me - your opening gambit is to identify a distinct race of people. In doing so, however, with the use of the word 'local' you show that you really don't understand what a 'traveller' is! drove all the decent customers out getting pissed up and picking fights - you then add in some stereotypes associated to the race you previously identified and describe their behaviour (getting pissed and picking fights) as inferior, even though the same behaviour carries on in pubs up and down the country every weekend (when they are open). You also claim they drove all the 'decent' customers away, again inferring that this race of people is 'inferior' to another. until they ran into a group of off duty coppers and a massive brawl took place. - What's this coming over the hill, why it's a knight in shining armour that hath come to vanquish the evil inferior race! Really? You expect us to believe that a group of 'off duty coppers' just happened to 'stumble' across a quaint village pub that had been overrun by the villainous travellers. Presumably the coppers were from the Serious organised crime unit in Basingstoke. Any reason why they didn't use their 'lawfully' given powers to put an end to the alleged assualts and anti social behaviour whilst they were 'on duty'? The landlord nearly lost his license and had to hire security for six months as a condition and it took a while for trade to bounce back, both a big expense for a little village pub. Business as just wary. - You then highlight the economic depravity caused by this inferior race of people and the effect it had on the local community, but don't worry, just like all good disney movies, the hero triumphed over the evil villain in the end and the inferior race was driven from the lands and peace was restored. But, you're right, other than those little bits, absolutely nothing racist in what you typed at all. There are none so blind as those that will not see.

So you are happy that what I wrote wasn't racist either then... Good on you, true colours shine through

Tut tut Pontins - although I imagine that if most of their parks were filled with Gypsies and Travellers they might actually be improved! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56246848

No need for that! The details of everyone who has been to Brazil in the last three months will be stored on the immigration database. Simply arrange for a middle of the night knock for them all and stick 'em in a cell for two weeks. Shouldn't be any issues with civil liberties there

There was an article about a woman who had flown to Brazil to comfort her father who was ill. She was complaining that she couldn't get a place in a quarantine hotel. Not sure why she was allowed to travel to Brazil in the first place. If my old man got ill, I wouldn't be allowed to travel the 140 miles to go and see him, let alone stay the night.

I can't see it being implemented. Imagine another eat out to help out scheme being implemented which excludes anyone under the age of 30! I definitely can't see places like Spain and Greece implementing it either. They are desperate for tourists to visit.

The weekend riding thread.
Weston Super Saint replied to View From The Top's topic in General Sports
Just the regular Gallium. The pro frame was twice the price to save 80g, so didn't even try to justify that! The bike build is a Frankenstein with the Di2 taken off my old Ribble bike from 2016 (the whole bike when I bought it cost about the same as a new Di2 kit now!). Wheels, crankset, chain, cassette, brake blocks and all cabling is new, as are the handlebars and pedals. Everything else is 'upcycled'. Nice test ride today. Couple of niggles to sort like the front derailleur needing a little adjustment and the jockey wheels squeaking. Other than that, super comfortable, light and very stiff from the bottom bracket to the rear wheel, exactly what the 'larger' man needs -
About 35mph. Not too late am I?

It's equally as likely to be 98% as your 1%. Given that schools have been closed since January and aren't going to reopen until March due to the increased amount of transmissions amongst children, it's more likely to be around the 50% mark - unless you are claiming the Government 'panicked'. You have no idea whether children will or won't be given a vaccine passport - the countries muting the need for one are saying that travellers must "prove" they have received a vaccine. It will be impossible for children to prove that as they are currently not going to be vaccinated.
-
I am the police chief. I leave the detecting to the rank and file 😉
-
You claim it's not "hard" but then admit you don't actually know what the figure is. It "could" be 98%. I'm assuming you don't have any kids if you're not fussed if airlines don't want to take the unvaccinated - would certainly ruin the holiday plans of lots of families.
-
I didn't feel I needed to cover it again, as I already pointed this out in the post you quoted.... Not sure how you can equate viral load being a lower risk in the same sentence where you state the variants are more transmissable by children.
-
Until the entire world is vaccinated then it will still be hanging around and mutating. As they said at one of the briefings last week, this is going to be around for a decade or more. As you've already pointed out, it will only be transmitting to people who haven't been vaccinated due to a refusal (unless there is a super mutation), the majority of whom are in the 18-29 age group so not likely to affect the NHS, which is the only reason the country closed down in the first place...

This quote from that article appears to echo the point I was making with the link and quote below....
