WTF? Where have you got the whole work thing from in my example? Old people - and I specifically stated people who looked older than 60 - were out walking with younger people (it looked like children and grandchildren). There were also lots of other people on the 'promenade' at the same time - some walking, some jogging, some playing with dogs etc. The very nature of the promenade in Weston means that it is impossible to keep the advised level of seperation in most places. I'm also not sure if you understand that 'most' grandparents don't work, it's also very unlikely that those who do will work in key roles and will be required to attend day in day out. Not only that, the Government has already insisted that older people should avoid work for the next 12 weeks - something about a virus that may be deadly for them.... So the only reason I can see for people ignoring the rules is because they really don't give a ****!

It would have a massive impact on someone who has solar urticaria.

Can you be certain it has no effect / impact? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect

With the grandkids?

Yes, madder than a March hare. I was out exercising, on my bike, alone, with absolutely no intention of engaging with another human being apart from the odd friendly nod or wave to passing cyclists - pretty sure we're still allowed to do this! I shall be confined to the house for the remainder of the day like I'm supposed to be!

Sad news and condolences to you and yours. Makes me even madder about the number of 'old' people out and about for a stroll along the seaside that I saw whilst out on the bike. Most of them 60+ walking around without a care in the world, some with grandkids in tow FFS. Certainly makes you question why we are all doing what we're doing, knowing that the economical pain to come will be biblical, when the very people we are 'protecting' haven't a care in the world and continue as if nothing is happening.

The word 'legend' gets bandied about a lot, but I reckon it's a moniker that fits the bill for Sir Sterling.

I assume that the Labour party will be suing the BBC imminently for their misrepresentation...

Out on the bike today and saw a guy on an 'invalid scooter' with a face mask connected to an oxygen bottle. He was out for a 'roll' along sand bay seafront with lots of families walking around with their dogs. Looks like some people don't want to be 'helped'. The amount of cars out and about today it looks like lock down has been lifted....

Surely in the spirit of 'live and let live' MLG can be as vocal as he likes about religion and air his views on it? As far as I can tell, MLGs 'intolerance' - FWIW I don't believe he is being 'intolerant', more pedantic - has been confined to the written word on an internet forum.

Odd that the WHO doesn't share that opinion. https://www.who.int/ith/diseases/sars/en/

Wow, just wow! Possibly one of the most racists things I've read on this forum! Presuming to tell an entire race what they can and can't eat because you have (wrongly) made the assumption that eating 'dodgy ****' from 'disgusting places' caused SARS!

And yet many religions do condone violence....
-
Would you still have the same opinion if a radicalised nutter blew themselves and members of your family up in the name of their one true God - genuine question as clearly their 'belief' would have an impact on you.

So basically you're saying that religion is relevant if you are in a church! Not exactly a stunning revelation!
-
Tradition - as Lighthouse said. It's also part of the big 'fairy tale' they've dreamed about for years and usually nothing to do with religion. Having said that, more and more people are shunning church weddings in favour of far more accomodating venues, especially since the church lost its monopoly on weddings and more civil licences were issued. https://www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2019/12-april/news/uk/church-weddings-fall-by-nearly-half-in-two-decades
-
To insist that it is relevant for everyone is simply not true.
-
No. It says the archaic laws of our country require it to be taught - in all fairness, it is no longer about Jesus, Mary and the wise men and tends to be more balanced covering all the major religions.
-
Probably because in 1871 when they were legally declared as bank holidays, religion played an important part in people's lives, owing to the fact that science hadn't yet developed sufficiently to debunk most of the myths.
-
No, I gave them ALL the facts and allowed them to make their own minds up - it tends to only be the highly religious families that engage in brain washing

Pagan calendar? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2010/apr/03/easter-pagan-symbolism Just a coincidence that : ?????
-
They are legally bank holidays in the UK, not religious holidays. The law protects workers rights to have time off on those days - or time off in lieu - and they have been classed as bank holidays since 1871.

Boris?

Does that mean it is now irrelevant?
