  1. Better than your investment fund?
  2. It doesn't provide support for 'herd immunity' and I've never claimed it did! Perhaps you missed the text that I handily copied - perhaps you fell asleep earlier when it was being discussed that teachers were calling for schools to be shut but Boris was the big bad ogre for not listening to them. Anyway, to re-iterate (and to make it very clear to you what my point is, as it seems to have slipped past you as always) : Whilst two weeks may be a long time in certain contexts, the fact that the WHO have stated restricting movement (and by that I am inferring both international and domestic, as frankly in this context there really isn't that much difference) during public health emergencies is ineffective, should suggest that the current policy of not restricting movement is the right one.... #typicalnarcissistmakingassumptionsaboutwhatpeoplearesayingandthenclaimingtobeallsuperior
  3. Odd then, that the WHO seems to support the UK's approach.... https://www.who.int/news-room/articles-detail/updated-who-recommendations-for-international-traffic-in-relation-to-covid-19-outbreak/
  4. Fingers crossed! Considering there's been four open letters to get this information published, you'd hope it will probably be OK!
  5. Ah, I see, so when the information is published, we can immediately rebuke it because it has come from a Government IT system!
  6. For how long - one week, two, a month, six?
  7. Seems a bit redundant to publish a fourth open letter when they've already said they will publish the computer models.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-51892402
  8. And this is why the Italian model of complete isolation won't work - there will always be people who will be wandering around spreading the virus, so when the world returns to normal, there will be no immunity for those that have hidden away and they will start all over again.... If you are a home owner with a sizeable mortgage which you have comfortably paid whilst working (employed or self employed) to suddenly have your income cut to £94.25 per week means something is going to have to give. Granted, you can get the basics to live off with the money but I suspect the bank manager won't be happy to live without his money for long, never mind the numerous contracts - mobile, broadband, sky etc etc - that have been entered into in good faith and were previously affordable... However, the government will only subsidise SSP for TWO WEEKS and that's only for businesses with less than 250 employees. Then it will be up to employers to foot the bill - if the economy is shut down, how are small businesses going to afford this?
  9. The man in the high castle.
  10. One question.... Are people dying "as a result" of the virus - i.e severe symptoms that are directly attributable to the virus - or are people dying (which is a natural occurence) but also test positive for the virus, or is it a combination of the two? If it is the latter then the number of people dying who also have the virus is going to increase dramatically as the rate of infection across the nation increases. Given that about 1400 people die in the UK every day (I guess slightly more are born every day), then as the rate of infection rises to around 60-80% of the population, then statistically 840 to 1100 people will die every day who also test positive for the virus, which is obviously an enormous number but doesn't necassarily increase the natural number of people dying every day... Is there any research / statistical information that says how many people are currently dying as a result of the virus in addition to the base line mortality rate?
  11. I'm under no illusion that this is not Boris's doing! He is taking his advice from the qualified people who know far better than him! So, tell us, how should they go about 'getting things under control'?
  12. It's a contagious, airbourne virus with no current vaccine. Enlighten us, how exactly is it possible to 'get things under control'?
  13. Manchester's ****ed then
  14. Are you advocating that Momentum shouldn't be fined because they lost?
  15. What a great video - calm and rational!!
  16. Seems to do alright in humans with their 35-36C temperatures....
  17. I'm assuming that since no-one has debunked today's budget - even Jeremy seems to like it!! - then everyone is happy with it? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51832634
  18. And yet, the 'Plague' as you put it, has been far worse for the Europeans which makes a mockery of your argument....
  19. Hello pot
  20. 7??
  21. Playing Devil's advocate, not the kind of role for someone who had tried to commit suicide over a year before the Minister shouted at her? Perhaps the wider issue is how people within the Civil Service are managed and why a person who has clearly shown themselves to be vulnerable is allowed to continue in a demanding role?
  22. To be fair, that's a description of one solitary incident that happened on one day, hardly the sustained bullying campaign that would cause a reasonable person to try and take their own life....
  23. To be fair, I agree with most of your post, however, does this make it more or less likely that a 'minister' will have the time / interaction / exposure with a 'junior employee' of the DWP, to be able to bully them to such an extent that they would try to take their life?
  24. Certainly has 'form' with the bullying allegations. Would be better to see all the allegations and evidence of the case but I guess that's not going to happen since it never reached a tribunal. Looks like we'll have to settle for hear say and conjecture regarding this issue....
