Well, we really would have a demand and supply situation then! If people feel the forum is worth saving, then they would donate. If they don't think it is worth it, then they won't, simple really. And I don't think the adverts being more in your face will drive people to pay £5, but I do think it will convince them not to come back

Well, we're not all privvy to the figures for donations and memberships and running costs etc etc, so if you'd be so kind as to lay them all out for us, then we can formulate our own opinions

But that's the point isn't it? The forum appears to be a bit of a damp squib at the moment, and IMHO that is because of the divide between members and non members, and the restricted posts and lack of thread starting ability by non members. If the membership were offered as a donation - with no limit [upper or lower] - I suspect the same amount of money would still be raised, and we would have no need for this divide in members. [yes I did voice the exact same opinion when the subscriptions were first mentioned]....

Which is what prompted the thread in the fist place! Oh well, at least I've got an answer to 'Is TSW a dead man walking?', as I think with the reluctance to even acknowledge that there might be a problem looming, I guess the chances of putting any measures in place to head the problem off are quite slim!

I beg to differ. We already know that there are only a few hundred full members, and that a lot of people MUST therefore have voted with their feet. This site no longer commands membership figures in the couple of thousands, which is a shame.

An acknowledgement of the suggestions would be a start

Besides, as soon as you get the disciplinary invite letter the normal procedure is to go off sick with stress isn't it, then keep renewing the old Doctor's note until the resignation period is up - so while it is Legally possible to be fired when 'working your notice', practically it very rarely happens....

Ponty hinted last night that there are only about 400 or so 'paid up' members. Now it may just be me, but I can see less than half of those renewing their membership next year - what do we get, the site STILL isn't available during matches!!! So I reckon somewhere in the region of 200 or so members next year. If the current figures are anything to go by that probably means about 10% of those starting new threads, so probably somewhere in the region of 10 or so new posts a day next year. Therefore from one of the busiest Saints forums on the innernetz to something rivalling ForeverSaints in the space of a year. IMHO it's time for a change and time for a rethink.....
