  1. Delusional. De lose em all. struggle to think who would entice me to go and watch if I was not a supporter who could go in that great list of reasons to go to the game which for me begins with Paine and Sydenham, via Ron Davies, Shearer, Channon, Le Tiss, Lambert, Mane, chives, and many many others but in the present team …… struggling to think of any one.
  2. Exactly that. Just how many new midfielders do we need? Between them we could have paid for a half decent striker. Sigh.
  3. I don’t think it’s fair to blame McCarthy. He’s good in a number of skills but he is poor at playing out with his feet. It’s unfair to make him play that system because he just can’t do it and every time the ball is played back to him and he’s not allowed to belt it upfield (eg Jordan Pickford style) you know he’s giving the opposition hope and all of us kittens. It’s down to the manager to reduce risk by banning back passes to him except in extremis. At the other end of the field we have needed a quality bustling central striker for years. Like an injury free Danny Ings. They cost big money which we don’t have….or rather how many £5-15m players have we signed lately? I’d sooner we did without so many lower calibre additions and put the money together for a real star, someone who excites the crowd and strikes fear in the opponents defence. Other than that we played well today and could have won if we didn’t let our goalie face situations he can’t handle and if we had someone capable of putting the ball between prem league goalposts.
  4. Which five adjectives from these ten apply to our team unDer the present manager? exciting predictable boring toothless determined skillful pedestrian inspiring lacklustre organised I know my five! it can only get better!!
  5. I hope people are joking about KWP and Luton. Why in the world would he make such a move? He’ll be back in Championship next season watching us doing OK in the Prem. He has given an enormous amount to our club and if he got a move to a top club I would be very pleased for him…but not Luton!!
  6. Nice to see doe long balls and a direct approach
  7. Watched highlights of Newcastle 2 Saints 1 on Sky last night (2022) Even though Jones was in charge it was actually enjoyable to watch. Fast forward focused football. Of course the defence was weak ( but not as hopeless as this season) but it was actually enjoyable to watch. How we have declined.
  8. The perfect analysis. RM please study sitting alone in a locked room for several hours and then accept its wisdom and act upon it. Otherwise please hand in your resignation.
  9. Thanks. I did miss it and paid 10 quid for a saints sports pass. Bad move.
  10. I have great respect for KWP and am very glad we still have him. He is an excellent right winger- dribbles well, cuts in well from the wing, crosses well. Unfortunately he is at best an average full back.
  11. What was wrong with 2-3-5 anyway? Two hard tackling backs, a dominant centre half , wingers who excited as they tore up and down and crossed to land on the head of big Ron or whoever was CF. Bring back those ‘60s tactics and get rid of this faffing around nonsense at the back.
  12. That Leicester no 5 looks reasonably competent. Pity we don’t have anyone of his calibre.
  13. Out thought and out played. Better manager won the day
  14. JWP. Our good player
  15. Tony Mowbray is a wise old head and he’s worked out how to destroy us.
  16. Just reading speculation that Tella may go for £20m…..are we not simply seeing asset stripping in progress? Where is all the money from the sales going? Where are the purchases of top flight players to balance some of the departures?
  17. Pretty good analysis from Gillingham fan forum follows. Interesting last line putting us into perspective!! …..There were so many good performances tonight. Alright, this was hardly Southampton’s first pick 11 but when you’re playing against the likes of Che Adams, Carlos Alcatraz and Joe Aribo to name just 3, it’s still no mean feat to put them away like we did. Some of the midfield play was a joy and something I’ve been crying out for ages. All of the midfield put in a real shift. Short, neat passing and interplay, matching Southampton a lot of the time. Jayden Clarke was a revelation and I thought was rightly named the sponsor’s MoM. Ashley Nadesan never gave their back line a moments peace and what a delight to see a forward instinctively get in the right place at the right time to get on the end of a cross. We were also helped by Southampton’s almost complete inability to defend set plays. Ogie put one over when he should have scored. McKenzie had one mysteriously ruled out and the two he scored both came from Southampton’s inability to handle standard corner situations. The subs when they came on all did their bit. Southampton showed their class in the goal they scored but it was about the only time they put something together incisive all evening. To be truthful, for the whole match we wanted it a whole lot more than they did.Overall very encouraging, not just for the result but the patterns of play, the strength and skill that we displayed and the team togetherness that we showed. Only downside was the yellow cards, some of which were mysterious to say the least. Perhaps we need a system whereby the crowd are told what they’re for !My last word is that I expect Saturday against Accrington to be a lot tougher…… so that’s where we stand!
  18. Can we sign some/all of the Gillingham team?
  19. I want to be optimistic but on the basis of last season and the friendliest I’m not sure there’s any evidence to suggest we can score more than one goal and plenty of evidence we could concede two or three. Please let me be wrong!
  20. Much better now. Good to watch and less of that infuriating walking pace short passing that gets nowhere.
  21. I think there’s something wrong with me. I’m pleased the team are getting a lot of praise and hopefully they will get a result today but I find this style of play very boring. Keeping possession is all very well but how does it translate into goals. Just long to see someone charge forward, beat a few defenders and shoot.
  22. Just a thought. If you were managing a hypothetical new PL team next season and you could only choose from the two teams playing tonight how many of your chosen 11 were wearing those strange blue tops tonight? That I think says a lot. I would have KWP but then I’m struggling. Maybe even Bednatek. But most of the others were inferior to their Notts counterparts in energy determination and ability. Or if it just they have a better manager?
  23. Please don’t blame Jesus. Even a miracle can’t save us.
  24. Selling Ings was indeed stupid. He’s not the greatest as his subsequent moves have shown but he was the best we had and always gave a flicker of hope. I also think Che’s contribution has been underrated. He always tried hard and was strong and could hold and use the ball well. On a wider point, if you subtract all the Prowse free kick goals of the last couple of years we Seoul’s probably be playing Pompey by now.
  25. Given I don’t like any of the suggested options or they will never take on the bottom team how about the manager of the Lionesses. She would soon sort out any lazy team members!….
