  1. It could take some time to get him in. Beware the Ides of Marsch!
  2. He'll be taking full responsibility, and then throw everyone else into traffic, matching his press conferences here. I understand why he wanted the job, and why he felt that the time was then right for it, having not felt ready first time. He's been very well compensated for not being ready for it the second time either. He can dust himself down for the next chance, somewhere between us and Havant. I'm sure one of the statistically best managers, capable of the best on a shoestring, will have no trouble. He may we'll be able to build up another side, given enough time. And if the players there have respect for him, after this shambles. In the meantime, he has no shortage of lessons to learn on tactics, squad management, man management and communication skills to keep him ticking over. Then he do that looking into the mirror thing he was wittering about, to see if the best version of himself stares back. He'll have learned lots of lessons about this level, and on being brought into a club in certain situations, rather than building one over time. On the OP, no sensible person wanted him to fail, regardless of varying reservations. It's not sympathy for him as much as for the whole self inflicted shambles.
  3. Well done! Forgot the early kick off too. But have it on in the background, even knowing the score. A Southampton side that can win... wow... 🙂
  4. He's got a contract, a wage increase and can say he's played in the Premier League. One look at the form table would have told him the likely outcome of this. Also, having worked with Jones previously would have given hints on how that approach would work. As long as he's not alienated the others by being a teacher's pet, and no suggestion he has, then he can fight for his place. He find, if we go down, and sell others, he gets game time with us in the Championship. There are still plenty of possible positive outcomes for him at the club, even as a squad player.
  5. Finally. SR must have realised that not even training ground activities, and supposed player buy in (despite the fights, arguments and dropping players) was enough. Like Ralph, they could have pulled the plug on this at any point. Their reliance on datasets, as a way of accepting risk, despite the evidence and common sense is baffling. Their decision making has probably cost us our position in this league. Despite all the investment. It didn't take much for the fans of NJ's previous clubs to all point out the same traits. That the interviews showed the same things. That situations repeated themselves. The feedback from theose clubs was the same. When it was falling apart, we'd get similar responses. All available, yet never part of our recruitment process. A massive gap. Top marks for saying aggressive and front footed. Top marks for introspection. A few off for having little grasp of how to run a club above a certain level. If Rasmus was really chasing NJ for such a long time, he should not be allowed to make the next decision based on the same, clearly flawed, process. He'll have run it during the week. "Wow, we have the fittest, bestest manager statistically in Europe here. One who has learned from not one, but two, disastrous spells. Let's...oh, I should have deleted NJ before I pressed the start button."
  6. Wows! Never underestimate how much a Southampton side can chuck in the towel. Jones just seen a chance to stay and push on, end in disaster, and presumably dismissal.
  7. The Nathan Jones revolution starts here (possibly with Bananarama)!
  8. Southampton: That lower division experience in the top league. 🙂
  9. It would be mean to ask him if he really was the fittest man in history. I'll put that with statistically the best in Europe as a Nathanism. I did look up sharply when he said he'd be dead soon. Things aren't that bad! Just a slip of the tongue. He'd clearly had a nice chat with his handler/ press officer. And the pre match, doesn't have the emotion of the post match. So, always emphasised that he had never, ever blamed anyone other than himself. Despite interviews across 3 clubs, where that is how it comes across. If, in his mind, he genuinely isn't doing that, he needs to stop those answers early. Which he did here, shutting down his answers and being more tactful and thoughtful. The big fringe benefit if we win is that he'll be able to stop bringing up his past record to justify his appointment. While he smugly explained that there's a masterplan behind players being in the B team, I hope there's a bit more depth behind the team being front footed and aggressive (which now has it's own stats apparently xGrrrrr).
  10. I feel my mere mention of xG triggered something there. 🙂
  11. Possibly Rasmus has been looking at the forum, and didn't want to say xG in case it started a riot. 🙂
  12. Good to see SR thinking longer term, offsetting the costs of relegation by... having a fans forum, to boost their sustainability index rating. Like Revolution Saint, I don't mind the finance bit, but they couldn't help themselves and threw in everything else they perceive a good club should have, weighted or not.
  13. I objected to "He wouldn't be good enough for the high aggressive, front footed, high xG Luton side, where I earned awards. So he's not good enough here, as I work, now free of influence from board, players and sanity, to build a side as good as that award winning Luton team was." 🙂 It's important for the pathway to be available to the academy. That pathway now applies to the slightly older youngsters we've bought recently. They filled the gap in quality at that development stage. So, we should be seeing some of them on the bench, if we're going to more easily bring in others at that stage. The club and NJ needs to balance that against having players who can get us points in close games to stay up. We may we'll lose this year for the younger players, before we get outgoings in the summer. Should we go down, we may have far more opportunities to see real progress with the younger players.
  14. SR are giving him the Wolves game. He's put huge pressure and significance on that game with all his "no more" comments regarding previous games. I want us to win. If, despite his comments, the chucking of players under a bus and his new approach, we do win, they may well give him another game. Which I'd want us to get something from. So, if he can turn it round and get us enough points to keep us up, then he'd stay by virtue of the results. Hopefully he'd be learning a lot of things along the way. Much like Ralph, I'd never want us to fail, but the owners would not have to go far to justify pulling the plug. In related news. As I'd listened to NJ's interviews a couple of times, I was picking up similar key words across a number of other interviews. However, they all closed their mouths, before feeling they had to justify their record, contradict themselves or blame everyone while trying get a stay of execution. It's hard to get a fresh start when you've given a lot of folks reasons to carry grudges into it. I'd be expecting a different press conference response next time, whatever the result.
  15. It's not just our fans that dislike Rasmus. Leeds players do too. I'll be discussing it further in the Aaronson's Appropriate Assessment of Arrogant Ankersens Appointments Angers All thread.
