Admas gets the ball centrally. He looks for that central, direct pass. But we've got Big Paul on now, so Big Paul isn;t zippy enough and is too deep for that. So he passes it out. There's another pass on wide. But we dither, so when it gets out there, there's no space to run into. The ball does come across. But fails to beat the first man. Another game with an endless succession of little errors.

Gah! pointless sideways passing. Plan A: We have a player the height of a skyscraper. Get the ball into him early, from deep., wide positions. Bree, or a from a bit further forward Perraud. Plan B: Mainly see plan A. But he also offers physical presence and decent skill to bring in others. So far, we've given him nothing like a chance.

Typical. KWP off, as that was looking like one of our better second half outlets. Bree on. Interesting. Lots of deep, direct balls into attacking areas?

The KWP / JWP combo is also one of the few things that look like to pay off. KWP looking a lot more lively second half, having been given the nod to be more attacking.

Adams looking to pick out that central runner again. Good to see we're still looking for that.

Don;t often see half time adverts. But on the stream there's a legal help centre waiting to hear about any accident I've had that wasn't my fault. I'm a little wary that none of their agents seem to have never used a phone before, that they sit huddled together in a windowless, dark space, and mainly that they would be writing down my information on a notepad, rather than use any kind of computer system. I'm sure it will all be fine. 🙂

A little unfortunate to be undone, as the opposition are gifted enough to have a couple of training ground set piece routines and one of those striker chaps, that takes years, and years to find (apparently). Hard to imagine many teams withstanding that. 🙂 We've had a few better looking, direct passes from the likes of JWP, Alcaraz and Sulemana. But there's a lack of fluency on what to do with them when they happen. WIth more chopping and changing, there just isn;t the understanding. In recent games, we've invited pressure on us, for Adams to release a central runner. Not today, and one down, Brentford would be silly to allow that to happen. With our disjointes shape, we're looking for a set piece or a moment of skill from Adams, Alcaraz or Sulemana. Adams could do with closer support, as there's no one to feed of anything he gets (which hasn't been much). We do have a more direct option in Big Paul, so we may see him later on, if we can;t get back into it.

Sure, some will say that. But the replay clearly shows McCarthy holding him back from making a superhuman dive and save. 🙂

In the '90s some of our posters may have been young enough to be in nappies, so that might be true. 🙂

On agrression, both KWP and Alcaraz have put in some solid challenges.

Alcaraz at least has a go. >cough< low xG <cough< but gets us moving.

Midifeld has looked busy with JWP pulling some strings. Defending and attacking are over rated. 🙂

Brentford caught napping thinking it was their trhow in. Southampton take full advantage... for all of 2 passes and we give it away.

We got done by a set piece where it was clear what they were going to be trying. Did nothing to prevent the flick on, didn;t anticipate the back post, and it was a tap in. A real blow to the positivity we had been building up.
