  1. The whole team learned to pass out under pressure, and looked much more confident in autonomic passing moves. Given the number of them that happened over the inevitable clangers. In RussBall, Baz became an important base for defensive passing moves. Smallbone progressed in every part of his game. KWP was given a lot of licence to pick up other forward roles. AA recovered his form. Downes became a key player. All this was in the Championship, and none of it transferred back to the PL. But, those were some improvements on what came down last time.
  2. It sounds as though one of the clubs has to buy him, when they go up and the other goes down. Hopefully, we go up in 2025/26, but must already budget for picking up BBD if/when United go the other way.🙂
  3. Very highly thought of before coming to us. A good move for him and B'Mouth as he got back to fitness. And showed bits of that talent with us too. The form sort of went with the season and style we had. It was a clinical, controlled system. So, some of the individual skills wouldn't be seen as much. While his general team based skills would have been there, but not stand out as much. Fraser made a very good first impact, and faded a bit into the system (with pros and cons) as well. But Fraser seemed to always be the more likely to move with the Newcastle situation.
  4. Looked very rusty in his first appearance. But 1) Not unexpected after time out 2) He looked annoyed about it too, which I took as a good sign 3) not uncommon for rusty players to get that sharpness back and 4) we needed all the attacking help we could get. But not worked out for anyone. At least it's been ended giving everyone a chance to move on. A decent move for Cornet.
  5. According to @Over land and sea's excellent contracts thread, Charles is Under-21 for the season.
  6. I'm just reading in the background here, but lots of good points raised. Thanks.
  7. Care to guess a year? 🙂
  8. Just the guy to get us out of a pickle.
  9. I don't see why he should get to enjoy a season, when the rest of us aren't. 🙂 The last game I recall him having under Martin's system was tidy if not pressured. Hopefully, he'll make a difference in a midfield crying out for help under Juric.
  10. Brave Lemina ran away, Bravely ran away, away. When. relegation reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled. Yes, brave Lemina turned about And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat, Bravest of the brave, Lemina
  11. Meanwhile, on another train, her ex is shouting down a phone at his therapist "Not seen her for 20 years. She looks the same, but older and just as intolerable."
  12. No one has a steadier pair of hands than Buffon. Sorry.🙂
  13. I remember posting about narcissistic injury back in 2021, and I got pelters for it. 🙂
  14. Sure. But playing him there, reduces our striker options.
  15. Endorsement on there from another Saints innovator. 'A great read and a fascinating insight into performance.' Sir Clive Woodward
  16. Bingo. The little dog who fell for all the dog whistles. 🙂
  17. I heard that Mrs Guardiola didn't feel they had anything to learn from Russell Martin, and began to doubt possession based football. Pep's results crashed as a result of her critique.
  18. Disappointing return. Too much of a transition from the 8 Dairylea triangles to the 5 Pledges.
  19. The country's doomed if it's like our season. 🙂
  20. Catching a little of Moyes' conference. He was asked about what style of play he'll bring. He complimented the question. Then he said that, as he assessed the strengths of the players he has, he'd be focused on winning as many games as possible until the end of the season. That done, then he'd look to make adjustments to better suit the style he'd like to coach. Quite a contrast to the philosophy-at-any-cost managers. Moyes is looking to keep his club in the PL and take them into their new stadium. Then, he'll be looking at broader changes to better suit him. Also noted that he's got a 2.5 year contract, rather than and end of season one. If things go well, that gives Moyes the chance to improve things for the club. It then also gives the club a chance to back Moyes. Hopefully, they'd do that, if they stay up and not move him on. This was on 5 live's Monday night club. So, a couple of them immediately ignored all of the above. They promoted Potter as a better option due to age. Then pointed out possession based football as better than Moyes' approach. Because that's been working well for the PL's possession based coaches of late. Because obviously Moyes' 1000 plus games are not worth a bean to the next set of coaching foetuses available for coaching jobs. No wonder Moyes said his biggest achievement was his longevity. Idiots in the media writing them off. Theo on the panel, not adding much.
  21. The last time I heard him, last week, he mentioned Leicester too. But he said that the inability of the PL and EFL to clearly lay out their own rules gave them an out before, and may do so again. The not at all suspicious high value player trading in the summer was designed to get the others off the hook.
  22. Exactly. Once SR are finished with Southampton, we can all support Goztepe. 🙂
