The old days sort of like the fairly recent days when foreign powers could kill off their dissidents in Britain.

Obviously SR with Mr Football will want to keep the same style of play. But Pep has just come out with "I am not good enough." Could we see a switch to Mourinho, who wants a club at the bottom of the PL? Would we accept that style of play after the giddy heights of this season?

Just heard it on the radio. "Often more than one in a short space of time, as clubs reflect on their situations." Is this part of the 10 year plan? If not, why wasn't it done months ago, as things aren't any different? Is MR football going to be trusted to be anywhere near selecting the next manager?

It's not uncommon to see little peaks and troughs. Just keep being brave and focusing on that 10 year picture. 🙂

I only saw the second half, so not too much can be taken from it. Spurs had a couple of early counter attacks, and one late closer range effort that would have been offside. Apart form that, they were only too happy to play well within their capabilities. They didn't have to expend too much energy to keep us at bay, even then, and got to bring on a number of youngsters, who we also failed to make any real impact against. With plenty of space and a team not going at PL pace, we got to do a few nice passing moves. We moved the ball about as per Russball, to shift Spurs and create a few opportunities. Our final ball wasn't great, the player making it often took too long, and sometimes we had too few players in there to have mattered anyway. The final third looked less than fluid, and more hopeful. Heads didn't seem to have gone down. KWP, AA, Manning and Dibling for starters, kept working away. Fernandes even got it into the net, but form an offside position. The commentator indicated that we were not at the intensity levels as a team in the first half and got blown away. I'll need to watch that. To not give away individual errors, but fall apart as a team sounds even worse. James Maddison (who we were once seriously interested in) was having a post match chat with AA. AA looked well aware that he was on camera. He didn;t want to say too much to Maddison, but looked embarrassed. TV focused on 4 supporters with the R.M get out of our club banner. Loads of empty spaces around. SR must be hoping they all come back for Championship football, if they don't take some action.

Jeez. Spurs' attacking set up should be a good test for Martin, as it should have given us at least some space to get his passing game going. Sounds as though it's been a disaster.

SaintsWeb Tourist board would like to point out that the "Gary O’ Niel sacked" thread is twinned with the "Gary O’ Niel available" thread. 🙂

I saw this headline "Trump gets $15m in ABC News defamation case" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgrw57q4y9do ABC News has agreed to pay $15m (£12m) to US President-elect Donald Trump to settle a defamation lawsuit after its star anchor falsely said he had been found "liable for rape". I was reminded of the discussion above, when one of the posters here made similar statements about him being a convicted rapist.

Obviously, that's the worrying one. Only sixth?

Adams' methane booster is giving him that extra yard past defenders.

As old as Bobby Robson, Roy Hodgson and Alex Ferguson when they were managing in the PL, and only a year or two more than several others.

Be sure to wear a protective helmet with an air supply. Can't be too careful dealing with things that travel at the speed of lint.

I didn't appreciate them until much later. Easily one of the biggest bands to write about Saints with... Our Club (at the bottom of the league) Night boat to Cardiff One Pass Beyond and House of No Fun

For anyone feeling a bit bad about not wanting to go or watch it, take a Hitchhiker's Guide approach. Martin will do exactly the same things every game. We will lose every game playing it. Our opponents will exploit exactly the same things. The feelings we have will be exactly the same every game. SR are going to do exactly the same thing about it. So, if we take it as read that every one of those things is going to happen anyway, one of these groups doesn't really have to turn up. Since the outcome will be exactly the same, all the other groups can just take it for granted that the missing group is actually there. So, if our opponents wanted to nip off for a long weekend, our team could effortlessly concede a number of goals pulled out of a hat before kick off. If supporters want to finish off Christmas shopping, both sides will be giving exactly the same outcome to make sure you're not missing a thing, you've not seen every other game. Russ' press conferences will be exactly the same, and we'll have exactly the same number of points. So don't feel bad about not going or watching. Martin and SR will make sure everything goes the same way, as if you'd actually been. 🙂

I tried to come up with another one, but I'm over-sphinxing it.

HG Wells seems appropriate for SOG to reference. He's very much The Invisible Man when challenged here, and shares delusions with the main character. If only he had a Time Machine to go back and reflect before deciding on his views. Sadly, that probably wouldn't help. What we've had will be just like The Shape of Things to Come.
-
Yup. Off the scale intolerance for religious and political views. Combined with condescension, ignorance and an utter lack of self awareness. That's our SOG.
-
If our fictional friend didn't have a blind spot for racism, congenital lying, and misogyny then he'd not be talking to SOG. Also noted is the utter lack of understanding on why people would vote Republican and the value judgements made against others with different views. No change there, despite being on here where there's lots of different viewpoints.
-
If he doesn't have a view, I guess the Guardian hasn't had an article on it. Otherwise, we'd have had a post with a link and "interesting" above it.

Just tuned in to see us play out from the back, and give it away both times. 🙂
