He was being played out of position and in a system that doesn't suit him. He's not going to keep the ball for 90 minutes like smallbone, but he will get you up the pitch, score you goals and create chances. You have to accept that defensivley he'll switch off because of what he gives you at the business end of the pitch. He's have been brilliant in the current Leeds or Ipswich side where they play a genuine number 10 (i.e second striker) and attack with pace and purpose. In sides gone by, he'd have been brilliant in Poch or Koeman side.

We should have built a side around him. Terrible management by him and the club. Unfortunatley, somoene like Alcaraz will never suit a structued, in flexible side like Martins.
-
Yeah, I've no doubt hes a good coach and looks a good manager. I'd have taken him here and still would (although I think something may have gone on behind the scenes which would prevent that - @Turkish might know more...). But Yes, its a myth we went on a instant downward spiral after he left.
-
Surely not this myth again.

sounds like an addiction mate. When the fun stops, stop.

its go nothing to do with the rail seating. Its because they wanted to improve atmosphere in the ground by having a single end. Will it work? Probably not, but that's their logic.
-
Blackburn (h) aside, all of the other games you've listed have been 'exciting' due to imcompentance. The sign of a good manager / team is winning those games comfortably - not 3-2 / 4-3 etc. relying on a last minute winner.
-
you can bet your lifes savings that WBA wont be so wasteful that day.
-
How different this place could, probably should have been this morning. If both WBA and us could stuck just 1 of our chances away, it'd have been in our hands. Bottle jobs.
-
How on earth have you come to the conclusion that we would be favoritues against a side which have; 1. beaten us twice 2. finished above us comfortably.
-
Great news for him - I really hope the club give him the send off he deserves on Saturday. Solid player for us and a top bloke. He was outstanding for a year or 2 under Ralph.
-
We want Leeds and Leciester out of this division next season, so by that very basis (unless Leeds lose tonight), I wouldn't be massively upset with a defeat.. which we will, because we have no bottle. FWIW - Really not impressed with Leciester, they look a pretty average side. What they do have is match winners and fight, as shown Saturday. 2-1 foxes.

I think on balance, Brooks was a decent punt. He's a decent player, I just dont think he's fit enough to come in and make the impact we were expecting him to make. Rothwell, I was expecting him to be a decent, solid addition and in some ways he has been with his goals. However, what fucking idiot signed off sending Charley out on loan (to a clib who is never going to cough up to buy him) and replace him with Rothwell.

For the U18's.... He's talented, one for next year.. not this.
-
Who’s gonna sign him by the way? If he wants PL, he’s laughing.
-
Knew we’d lose as soon as the line up came out, back to square pegs in round holes is good old Lego head. made himself look a bit stupid giving it stacks to the Cardiff fans down our place, considering they’ve just ruined our season.. nice one Rus
-
He’s in the team because we have no better. We needed a striker in the summer and blew our budget on one that was injured and has played about 20 mins all season. how different things might have been if we’d signed Piroe or Stewart was fit…
-
Looked a nasty one, most likely an ACL. He was off at the end of the season, I wonder if we’ll offer him a new deal given his service (the right thing to do). Although I Wouldn’t be surprised if that was him and he calls it a day
-
FWIW - Burnley, who pissed the championship last season and will eclipse what will be our final points total, have scored 15 goals at home this season with 2 to play. We're more creative because we're in a significantly weaker leauge.
-
@franniesTache - what is the 1885 group and are you part of it?
-
How many goals do you think you'd see us score under Martin if we go up? I would guess it wouldn't be many more than 19. Might be 51 against us though.

was at 8:30 this morning
-
Get back to bed micky, you're making a fool of yourself.
-
That just brought a shudder down my spin - Perhaps, given their injuries, they'll line up with a side as ridiculous as we did that day. I reckon a back 4 of Bree Lyanco Perraud Meghoma would struggle in a Sunday leauge side 😂
