Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
Dragon_man replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
This worries me too. I don't know enough about football finances, but the sale of Lavia, JWP, KWP, ABK, Tella and a few others could net £100-£125m which would clawback some revenue for SR. Reducing losses to the point that a cut and run could be the most financially advantageous thing to do. I'm sure they are looking at present and future value. Sell after this year and write off £100m or hang on a few more seasons mid table in the championship and be down £200m. Not an easy choice, but bailing sooner rather than later may be the best value option. And let's be honest, most of us would like to see them to leave with a good nosebleed. -
Is it the consensus that he'll be given the job of rebuilding in the championship or is he just keeping the seat warm? Hate to say it, but SR probably need to answer this one soon. If the former then he can use the rest of the season to experiment, work out who to keep, who to sell (I.e avoid a Livramento type injury to Lavia) and start the prep. If the latter, then he'll be just as demotivated as the rest of them and will be spending most of his time looking for his next job.

Is the Premier League too rich for us?
Dragon_man replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
I thought they wanted off, completely. Yes, can't have cake and eat it. PSG vs Real et al week in week out would get tiresome in the end, and I think it would all head to WWF and 'Drive to Survive' territory. But that would be their problem. Saints and the likes would retain a grassroots atmosphere and appeal more to core football fans. -
Is the Premier League too rich for us?

I was somewhat of a lone voice that thought the European super league was good idea. Let those uber rich clubs that are the playthings of sheiks, oligarchs, drug dealers and arms dealers all play amongst themselves and leave the rest of us to compete in the real world. The finances would all rebalance. Sure, Lyanco and the likes may not get £50k a week, but would that a bad thing ....? -
But predictors are a lot more accurate with trends than one-off events. Hence the almost certain prediction of relegation. We will have a few *great* results before the end of the season. Some above will have *bad runs* and others will also have *great* results. Balance all of that and ... you still have to say we're relegated. Before The Wolves game I heard on R5 that only 3 teams out of the last 30 in our position had managed to escape the drop in the history of the Premier league. Not sure whether that was due to position or points, but a pretty solid indicator.

Went last year and parked at the Lowry Outlet car park. No need to book and an easy walk to the ground.

Selles hasn't learned much has he. Bednarek of OG fame last match in and Alcarazz the golacorer out. DCC and Orsic nowhere to be seen. Baffling. Given the situation, I'd have tried something different in the hope of getting a different performance/result. Nothing to lose now.

In premiership history, how many times as a team gone down to 10 men, gone behind and then gone on to win, away from home? And against the best manager in Europe?

Some thoughts .. - Tall Paul goes down easily for big fella. Didn't do much. Didn't have a shot as far as I can remeber. Which is a worry for our star striker at home against a relegation rival. - Alcarazz didn't look as alive as he did during the home game against Newcastle. He went AWOL second half (along with many others). - Che did what Che does ... miss - 5 at the back. Let's not go there. - Sulemana by far the best player today though don't see how he fits in with hoofball. Alluding to his miss being a game changer by mad Nate was insulting. - Mad Nate as mad as ever. 'Wolves going down to 10 was to our detriment' aka 'I didn't know what the fuck to do'. It was all Wolves' fault. - Probably not worth sacking him now. We're down. It'll be a total reset in the summer. Many players out and that's the time to get in a new manager. I don't see the point of changing him now. New manager, new players, new era starts June 1st. (Pity we can't have new owners too).

Email from Saints 'Your priority ticket window for Man Utd ...' I'll take a pass thanks!

First mover advantage to Leeds. Snooze and you lose. New manager bounce incoming. SR just not at the races. This isn't their forte.

Do you live close to flat caps and whippets? Just 3 London clubs and Reading nearby. Most are in the frozen wastelands above the Watford gap.

About to see it again. Up front and personal this time.

Dyche showing what could have been. Still think they will go down, but it'll be with a fight, whereas ...

Just got to the ground and seen the line up. Really. No need to rush these new signings in because the existing team is doing so well? How do these new players take it I wonder. Must be a confidence killer. 'You're good, but you've got to displace Eli and Dialo first' FFS

Without a doubt!

Andy Carroll will be make a late appearance ...

Did Perraud know the defender was going to move out of the way ... or was he lucky that he did?
-
Is Orsic on 'sale or return'? Perhaps the distance selling regulations could come to our rescue 🙏

Tough choice on team selection ... Pick your best and run the risk of injury, fatigue or further demoralisation if defeated. Pick a second string team and really risk a defeat, thus formally drawing the season to a close. Me, I'd play the highest paid feckers and go for it. They are all in the shop window for the summer now anyway. Would be nice to get something out of them before they are gone. Put Adams in goal and our front line in defence, that would eliminate any chance of an own goal.

What's the odds on a third 0-1 in a week ... all at home too.

Wonder if Putin worries about escalation when he kills civilians, poisons people in the UK, weaponises energy and destabilises food chains. No, thought not.

Just need 8 wins from the next 18 games now. Easy-peasy.

If there was ever an admission of guilt. Says it all.

Oh c'mon. They weren't great, but 'done us' ???
