I don't think he'll be fired. SR's stubbornness will see them give him well into next season to get results. Trouble is, I, and I suspect most of the fans, don't see him as a Championship winning manager. I don't have the confidence he'll get us promoted next season. It's not just his football style, its his presence, image, the way he talks, how comes across etc. None of it cries 'winner or premiership level'. Another manager now won't save us this year, but they could get half a season to get ready for next season's promotion push.

... and the pain of seeing my monthly payments go out for our season tickets. On the plus side, it's a grand I'll save by not renewing next season.
-
I hadn't see it all this time ... How stoopid am I? There is a real master plan. I'm happy now, two exciting matches per season to look forward to (that's better than now).
-
I don't think it's a Nathan Jones OUT thread we need, it's an SR OUT one. Proving to be incompetent owners with a disasterous first year. Billionaire Dragon can probably easily write off £100m and put it down to 'experience' having enjoyed a playboy spell with a new toy. Meanwhile saints are in league one, facing financial ruin and staring into oblivion.
-
I'm far from salivating, I think he's a disastrous appointment and SR are proving to be hopeless at managing a football team. I'm just saying it as I see it. I think they will keep with him next season. With a new squad and in the championship, he may be good manager. Doesn't excuse what a f*** up it will have been to get to that point.
-
Hounded out by saints fans? Give me a break, SR aren't the listening sort and you overestimate Saints' fans ability to effect change. Rasmus took Brentford up and he'll believe he can do it again, his way, with his manager NJ. I think he'll get all next season too. If we finish bottom half of championship next year, then maybe he'll go. Finish In the play-offs and he'll go into his 3rd season.
-
Not kidding at all. Agree 'batsh*t time to ...' but do you think they said to NJ 'if we go down you get sacked'. And if they did, do you think NJ would accept the job? (given his stability at Luton and outside chance of promotion. Nope. If/When we go down, NJ blames the squad (with some validity) and gets another season at promotion. Zero chance of new manager for next season, stay up or go down.
-
Why would they appoint a manager with no premiership/top flight experience if they desperately wanted to stay up?
-
I disagree, I think he's here's for a couple of seasons whether we like it or not. We will go down and SR will give him another season or two. They see him as a longer term prospect than just this season and TBH I think SR are relaxed about going down. I'd be surprised if we splash any notable cash in January. We'll make some big name sales next summer, acquire some more 'new talent' and start afresh in August. Yes, its crap for fans. Is that SR's driver though? I don't really know enough about football economics, but I would have thought that relegation would be financially disastrous. But perhaps some SR accountant has worked out that relegation, parachute payments, offloading high wage players, winning more matches in the championship, promotion etc isn't so bad after all for their business model, probably still get 28-30k attendance ... who cares what the fans want? its not their club or business. Sad but true.

I hope this is the case, but I'm not so sure. We're all grown ups, so the interview is condescending and insulting our intelligence. They should say it as it is. Show anger, show passion, accept responsibility, be clearer on the plan, be honest, treat fans with respect!

There's a working link further up the thread.

I did read it. Usual corporate tripe for lap dogs to knock one out over. Hope it got you off. Meanwhile, I'm waiting to see if the FA award points for context.

SPORT Republic’s Henrik Kraft declares they are “really happy” with their first 10 months at Saints and reveals they came close to marquee striker signings. Fuck me ... have I read that right? 'really happy'? Since SR took over I make it that we've got 25pts from 30 games (involving 2 transfer windows). 'really happy' ... christ on a bike ... I'd hate to see what 'unhappy' looks like. In the last 38 games we've managed 30pts.

I think WHU and Leicester have quality players who will turn it on when it gets to the wire. Emery will drive Villa to mid table Bielsa will have his work cut out at Bournemouth, but I see them scraping through. Same for Forest. They will grind out what they need. They will 'click' in the new year and they have enough good players. Leeds are gritty. I think they will be fortuntate, but aided by a great fanbase and atmosphere at Elland Road, they will survive. For the drop ... Wolves. I don't think Lopetegui will be able to fix it Everton. They will hang on to Lampard for too long. The team is weak. Pickford won't save them, though he'll try to waste 90 minutes on his own for draws. And unfortunately us. Too much to do, not enough time. Not creative enough in midfield and much discussed lack of goalscoring capability. Both could be addressed in January, but I can't see it.

Just match days for me.

That's the upside. Hope there are no holidays for our bunch and they can really get some practice in. Che may even get to recognise a net. I really like him, he's hardworking, good off the ball and gets get into good positions. For us, and himself, I just hope he can that finishing sorted out. He deserves some success, bless him (as mad Nate would probably say).
-
His loyalty has cost him. Should have moved to a bigger club when he had chance. A better manager and better places around him would have raised his game. Listening to mad Nate this morning, he alluded to that fact that its not about results, more about the eco-system (developing young players for a profit), against that its hard to see what JWP gets from hanging around. No real chance of silverware and unlikely to really develop further. His value is likely to start decreasing unless he has some form of rebirth.
-
Possibly, though I think SR have got him in for the 23/24 promotion campaign
-
That should give enough time to go down to league one and back into the Championship 😂

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread
Dragon_man replied to Picard's topic in The Saints
So our near first team squad needs penalties to be beat a league 2 team at home. -
Looks like Luton's owners are the sharpest tools in the toolbox.
-
Like our finishing you mean. haha.

Even with a big name manager it was always going to be hard to keep this team up. Its decayed too much, one transfer window and a little over half a season is probably too short a timeframe to save it. I'm guessing SR have an eye on costs and accept the likelihood of the championship next year. Hard to see a quality striker joining with the reasonable expectation of being in the championship next season. Questions now are really about the championship next year. Who will we lose and who will we keep? I'm guessing KWP, JWP, ABK and Salisu are sure fire departures. Tino, Lavia, Perraud may also be targets. SR will want to recover some of the recent outlays. Jones will be back to where he is now, leading a team looking for promotion, though arguably in a better position than Luton are now and with a much higher salary I'm sure. Be somewhat ironic if Luton get promoted and we go down ...
-
Resigned from minister without portfolio. What do you do if you weren't doing anything and resign from doing that to do ... something less? Think this 3rd departure is his first resignation, the other two departures were firings. Hope he isn't collecting payoffs like Mourinho. You just can't bury some bartstewards. Perhaps a stake through the heart next time

We could well be like Stoke soon
