Agree. When you are 5-1 up at half time the second half is rarely a barnstormer…
-
Bragg was very very good.
-
He really is dreadful. I actually feel for him at this point. The difference between him and Arma is literally cavernous.
-
It was nowhere near the corner an yet he was still nowhere near it.
-
Unmarked but may as well have a statue in goal.
-
Bad goal to concede that.
-
You honestly think the QPR goal wasn’t his fault?
-
Anyone else not able to find our game on the Sky Go app?
-
The worst case scenario is a set of average results over the next week which SR feel empower them to appoint Tonda permanently. In the long run it’s almost better if this week’s results force SR to look elsewhere.
-
We are talking about a striker that was in Spurs reserve team up until a year ago at AZ Alkmaar. Hardly signing Mbappe is it? Sure he’s probably on the radar of teams in the Premier League now but over the summer I think he’d probably have been obtainable.
-
Probably right but shows you can find decent strikers if you know where to look (note to Spors, not the German second division…).
-
Could do worse than signing Troy Parrott. Looks decent.
-
Almost as if we should give him a go in the position he actually plays. Might be an idea.
-
It’s a ridiculous decision. Rightly or wrongly it seems like G’ON or Eckert. Fans spoke out against G’ON so here we are. Let’s be honest, Skate or not we’d have been much better off with him than a total novice. SR’s Hoddle v Sturrock moment. Let’s hope it turns out better than last time, history tells us it won’t.
-
It’ll only turn hostile if, as soon as he gets the job full time, we go back to turning in unacceptable performances. If that happens then I would expect the fans to make their feelings known.
-
Sorry but why should fans have any tolerance when this inevitably turns out to be a bad decision? We’ve had to sit through the same mistakes over and over and over. It’s not Tonda’s fault but appointing him off the back of a dodgy away win where any other day we’d get battered and a win against the worst team in the league at home is a shockingly bad decision. It’s tantamount to writing the season off..
-
If true it’s an absolutely laughable decision. Proof that this club learns nothing. May as well fast forward to the next New Manager Thread already.
-
We could do a lot worse than Carrick.
-
As soon as Tonda beat QPR the odds of him getting the gig went up dramatically. You can just tell Spors and Rasmus are keen to find the next Thomas Frank. If Eckert gets the job then this season is a write off, the quality of opposition for the last two games was absolutely woeful. A sensible appointment could still get us to the playoffs. I just can’t fathom spending so much on transfers in the summer and then go cheap on the manager. It makes no sense.
-
Why is this season irrelevant? We are 3 wins off the playoffs. Giving the job to Tonda would be a ridiculous decision in my view.
-
100%. I agree he shouldn’t be appointed given the circumstances but preferring Eckert “because he hasn’t played for Pompey” is pretty silly IMO.
-
There are multiple managers and players that are “loved” by both Saints and Pompey fans, it’s not really relevant in my view. Eckert has literally no experience and is even younger than Will Still. For a team that could still get into the promotion picture picking someone whose prior experience of the English league is being the assistant manager of Barnsley over someone who has twice done a reasonable job in the league we aspire to be in is objectively mental. As I said, he wouldn’t be my choice but O’Neil is clearly a better option than Eckert. i think we all agree SR will look elsewhere but I bet they won’t if prior to Sat they’d decided to appoint O’Neil.
-
My fear is those chants against O’Neil have all but landed Eckert the job. Is G’ON my choice? No, but I’d have him over Eckert 100 times out of 100. It shouldn’t be a straight choice but, let’s face it, if G’ON was the SR choice and the fan base have spoken against him then the most likely outcome is the next best thing cheap option.
-
2-0 up and cruising then Baz chucks one in and we are panicking and under pressure. That’s the issue, he always has a rick in him which could throw the performance off.
-
Nothing wrong except that he’s a bad keeper. A team that wants promotion needs better.
