I guess for me the feelings are of sadness that someone who stood up for freedom, in our darkest hour, when we were all alone in the world, doesn't deserve to leave this place alone and unoticed by a society that should still be immensely grateful. Also you have to remember that, as a club, we need to get back to producing X player from the academy for peanuts...and then sell them on for a nice profit. That is the business we are in, not to win trophies etc, but to make money on transfers. That being that case, the last couple of years has seen that revenue dry up, as there haven't been many decent candidates....the recent inclusions of youth players are born out of trying to address that trend. Those players that have made match day squads recently have probably been judged as the best candidates to make a profit on. Hence Valery getting so much game time. All IMHO.

Yeah, Howe may need to prove himself at another club first before going "big time", especially considering his Burnley stint. The alternative is a temp mgr whilst Zidane learns to talk the English betterly.

Also, you would like to assume that, as the the club are asking for opinions, they have checked with the coppers first....otherwise, why both to canvass opinion.

Its not about preventing them from being sold, its was more about how me may have been able to slow down the exodus, and squeeze more money out of the buying club. Yes, all our decent players have left, just think we may have missed a trick. Slapping a £30 - £50m charge on any transfer dealings wouldnt have put the likes of City and Liverpool off, but we may have got some extra £££ out of it.

As per this article, Liverpool have a 100m Euro transfer charge on any dealings with Barcelona, due to Mascherano, Suarez and Coutinho going that way and (presumably) their desire to stop VVD, Mane, Salah etc going in future. Makes you wonder why we didnt do something similar. You are certainly not, I know loads of people who have had the enthusiasm knocked out of them by the club. I was a ST holder until this season, have Saints tattoos, and yet I cannot get excited about anything football related this season. I havent watched a single second of saints footage yet, and have all the MOTD's un-watched in my planner. I look up our score on the BBC on match days and check this site maybe once a week for any extra info, and thats it. Im not a JCL or glory hunter, just me and football have fallen out of love with each other.

Oakley didn't make his debut for saints until the end of the the 94/95 season....Le Tiss had been playing for Saints for the best part of 9 years, if you take a look at his stats for the time before Oakley started, it doesn't really look like he was struggling! The foundation for Le Tiss's genius was Left Tiss's genius.

Only truly blinkered Saints fans thought that McCarthy's four performances this season would oust the person who was 50/50 for being Eng number one at the last World Cup. Pickford got the gig due to his distribution, but apparently it was very close between the two. That being the case, Butland was always going to start this friendly. Having said that, shipping in goals for Stoke in the Champ will certainly help McCarthy becoming number 2 'keeper!

Even in this "Opta Era", incisive passes, flicks and touches are not that measurable and fall into the IMHO category. Goals and assists are very measurable and (even at his best) these stats were awful. Considering the position he was often played in, his contribution to the teams success is massively overrated. Also, don't forget....this amazing recent performance was against Bosnia, and they lost.....hardly an performance worthy of lifting his teammates around him! Is should also be noted, any kids starting out in their Saints supporting career will all hear and know about Matt Le Tissier, Alan Shearer, Ricky Lambert etc......but Steven Davis will fall into the Matt Oakley category, and will have to be explained to people what he actually did here.

So, I assume then that he was spraying the ball sideways and backwards more than he hes done in recent years, because goals and assists were never his thing!
