Think the other problem with Shaw is that he lacks the intelligence to take his game further than his natural ability has already got him. Hence Mourinho's "his body with my brain" comment.

Do you get a cup for being top of the pressing league? Does it get you into Europe?

Id go for Talisca at Besiktas (on loan from Benfica) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WUNXekHleA

The utter contempt VVD is showing the club and the fans is shocking. However, if the fans start making it difficult for him to be here and boo / give him abuse, that will play right into VVD hands....the club will feel they have to sell as A) He wants out and B) The fans want him out. He is probably one of the best players to ever play for us, and I still think you could play him in any position and he would probably be the best player at the club in that position, but we now need to make a f%cking example of him. Sell him (abroad NOT in the UK) and use the cash to sort our squad out, or let him rot for 5 years and get nothing for him - Id be happy with either outcome.

Apparently, Daniel Sturridge is the toughest opponent he has faced....honestly, not long before the c4n7 is parading his LFC tatt around on social media. https://thisisfutbol.com/2017/09/blogs/van-dijk-sturridge-is-the-best-striker-ive-played-against/

Already been told....on page one.

IMHO - If the Saints Trust was a proper entity, and not just some busted flush once used to get minor celebrity status for a few individuals, one of the things they should have been in was making sure the atmos at SMS was up there with the best. They could have organised "themed" days, arranged for song books to be printed, whipped up support in the local press ans on social media. An opportunity wasted.

and this yours...

Its the SFC wannabe hanger-oner's that seemed to have their noses put out the most by Cortese.
-
People STILL thinking Davis should be in the starting XI
-
Why, how did that directly affect you. I couldnt give a monkeys how he did his business, it was what was going on on the pitch that was important. As someone else said, our ambition went the day Cortese left. When your club is based on a model that every part is interchangeable, and most players see it as a stepping stone (one good season and Im off) - then its hardly any wonder that we have lost all sense of The Southampton Way...whatever that was. We have no identity whatsoever, we are literally just a feeder club for "bigger" teams. It seems the club are happy to buy cheap and sell expensive...and just keep ticking along like that.
-
Weve got to be the only club where "New" investement....actually means "No" investment. Also, keeping hold of a contracted player is hardly a massive achivement.....he was under contract, we were hardly batting bids back left right and centre, and plenty of other clubs kept hold of players that wanted out - so I wont be slapping anyone at SFC on the back over that. Appreciate that keeping hold of players in the past has been tricky, but they shouldnt be applauded just becasue VVD didnt go. They also have spent 15m on a player who we probably didnt really need. 6/10 - Could have done so much better.
-
Bit dramatic, its VVD we are talking about, not Terry Waite! Also, him sitting out 20+ games this season is going to stitch him up more than it will SFC. We get 50m at the end of the season, instead of 70+ now.

Yes. but it appears it can be broken should Benfica wish to sell.

We should be going for Talisca at Besiktas, saw quite a bit of him when he was playing in Portugal. Could be exactly what we need. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talisca

You understood your own made up assumption....?
-
If I was given the choice of keeping Forster or spending 20+m on a replacement, id rather keep the 20+m...as he is fine for our level. However, I would put him in that group of players such as Jack Wilshere and Luke Shaw, where their natural ability can only get them so far. They lack the intelligence to take on what is being asked of them by their coaches / manager.

Our half-witted fans don't know how lucky they are

You're absolutely correct. Id much rather have a massive bulging wallet and be in the Prem, than win a few things and spend a few seasons in other divisions. -

Don't get the past few seasons confused with club ethos. I would say that their approach to filling up a trophy cabinet is substantially better than ours. -

Do you get silverware for that? -
How would you feel if no one left but we didn't sign anyone else?
Marsdinho replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
What if our inept manager was only part of it, what if last season was exactly the season you would expect from that squad. -
Can we finish higher than eighth in the 2017-18 season?
Marsdinho replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
If Everton are our benchmark, we've slipped behind them quite a bit. They have spent huge sums of money on superior players to what they already have (probably spending the ££££ they will get for Barkley and Lukaku) A few years ago, the top four was nailed on, just depended on what order. Now we are approaching a situation where the top 7 could be nailed on. Any other team gets investment, the starts spending the huge sums of money available, they will then make it a top 8...etc. The rest of the teams will be in a relegation scrap, do well in your relegation scrap, and you may end up 10th....do badly, and you're down.
