💯 % right. It’s within his gift to change it. It’s down to him why he is having to repeat the same boring crap. At least if you change direction catch a few teams out, and still lose. You will at least have something different to talk about in the end of game interview. I can’t remember who the quote comes from but “if you continue to do the same thing, you will continue to get the same results” Its some better yourself, coaching for success book I’ve got somewhere. Maybe I should lend it to RM.

Agree we haven’t got the best squad we have ever had. But there is enough here for a decent manager, that can get players playing. No jokes we even have a couple players a lot of teams in this league would want. It starts with a plan and blueprint. But is adaptable and fluid to suit the opposition and occasional. We keep repeating the same crap. Some of these players are top drawer otherwise they wouldn’t be playing at this level. It’s the Manager and structure. Give any top 4 manager in any league in Europe, and we would be mid table with this squad in this particular season.

I can’t wondering if he so far up his own arse with telling his players what he wants how to play. Believing that his system is he only one in the world. ect ect ect. He has completely forgotten to do any homework on the opposition team and players and how the opposition sets up. Any idiot could see how that third goal was going to be scored.

Players don’t look like they are playing for the management team. Discipline all over the place. They clearly don’t agree with the set up one bit. This is a decent group of pro football players, playing within themselves, angry and without any freedom, or voice by the looks of it. They are playing for themselves and tying to ignore the instructions, and I can’t blame them. They can see that RM isn’t going anywhere. Confidence in a group of players playing at this level is shocking. They are all looking for there next transfer. Why is RM still not being flexible. Other clubs will see right through him and he will be lucky to get another job in league football, due to his inability to read the game being played out in front of him. I’m not a football manager, but this isn’t rocket science to work out where it’s all going wrong for us.

I would love to know why the fuck we haven’t picked up the phone to Mark Robins.

Chopping and changing managers helps nobody, the manager the club or the players. You have to stick with a manager that shows he can develop, help improve, even move player positions for the benefit of club and player. Need to allow the manager to change, and work different styles of play against the particular opponents that they face that week. Work with DOF to identify what would fit a fluid changing style, but with a key ethos that is the cornerstone and heart of a winning flexible team that everyone buys into. We have Russell Martin and the DIC sorry DOF do that………………………………….

Beat me to it. The football gods were not looking down on us today. That goal should have stood and possibly, just possibly changed the game. We still cannot string a single forward pass into space for a forward player to touch once and ping a ball at the back of the net. It’s called there is the run from my attacking player, let’s just put the ball a few yards in front for him to run onto. Or play u8’s passing drills.

I admire him for sticking to his own plan and vision. Everton are hardly competition the last few seasons. For me a great manager is someone that has a belief and implements and sticks with it. But you really have to adapt and change to suit the environment. I have no idea who is next, but won’t stay up with RM. Then i guess look at the likes of West Ham, do we want that…….. t

Well done Russ. Fantastic job interview. Just need Pep to leave now……….

Chuck all our money on Jose, according to Talk Shite today he is looking for a Prem club at the bottom he can work his magic on for 2 years. Like that would ever happen. But watching the game tonight, how did Leicester do what they did against us. Forget 10 men that should make us stronger. Forrest ?????? Yes Wood perhaps but really can we not go and find someone. Academy, are we wrapping them up in cotton wool, surely it cannot be worse if we chuck a real superstar in and see what happens. If we have one. Yes I have had experience of academies, not Saints. It’s irrelevant at the moment who the manager or coaching staff is at the level we appear to be looking at. Jose does like to play up, call his bluff and say go on then. But seriously I’d like someone that has a plan A B and C, DURING the game. ***Talk Shite did play what appears to be Jose after last nights game. ***Disclaimer.

I wonder if he watched the first half of Barca, Bayer last night. I’m not saying we have the same players. But at least both tried something different. Not a fan of either team particularly, but wow what a first half. RM, you can try different things 🤷‍♂️

Wolves had it covered perfectly tbf. Well at least for the first 7 mins. Jokes to one side it had to take them to injury time to win it on Sunday. It will take a miracle, or RM to actually take the handbrake off, for us to get a result. Stranger things have happened 🥴🥴

I hate to say it, I really do. But time to move on from British coaches. Not the individuals fault just the corrupt FA making a fortune from their Pro licence badges. That’s unfortunately why we have ended up with a German in charge of the National team. Without exception all English managers can not adapt these days, precisely what the FA DNA and pathway are teaching them. It’s 10s of thousands of pounds to get a pro licence with the FA, and about a decent weekend away on the IOW with pretty much every other European nation. I am a very proud Englishman, but when it comes to football management and coaching we are F?!’ed.

Correct. I am struggling to think of a realistic alternative. Not the talk of Potter ect, just a genuine replacement. I’m guessing it would be someone that Dragan would have more of a say in. So are we going experienced unknown European. Probably now our best bet.

Best manager we have ever had. What a team talk what substitutes. We will be lucky to keep hold of him at this rate. England are Shona sign him. Just about to have 10 pence now.

Swindon ??????

I admire him for stick to a principle. However he is not Pep who tbf is making a couple of errors himself. Nothing against our team, but we are not world class Champions League winners. Please can we play the Saints way, oh dear just conceded goodnight…,,

As a lot have said, everyone has there level in football. He is a great guy with a great plan. I think his problem is he is not flexible enough, not willing to completely change formation and or style of play at half time, or 60 minutes even the last 10. At our level with the players we can afford we have to be more creative with formations and phases of play. I guess we are restricted to a budget. If that is RM, it is what it is.

SR are doing thier playing and management staff shopping at Aldi at the moment. We will never shop at Waitrose, but I would be happy with Tescos, or Sainsbury’s. I genuinely think SR didn’t buy the club to get relegated in the first season, and I assume they thought we were an established Prem side. January I think will answer a few questions about their commitment to the club. I thought Ramsdale looked like the start of things to come, but that’s a sticking plaster. My guess is they have underestimated the financial implications of running a Prem Club. Which includes scouting network a very big salary for an experienced top flight manager. Then the question of players. Agreed they have been shafted by the likes of Wilcox ect, but that is even more the cause for Alarm as where is the back up plan . We can stay up I think, but needs a big rethink.

He’s a good manager, otherwise wouldn’t be at the level he is. He would be plying his trade in non league. However to be a very good manager you have to have a conviction of a plan and style of play. But crucially know when to switch to a different style and strategy if it’s not working. We have a very good team that I think are more than capable of staying away from a relegation fight.(Keeper situation sorted). He just needs to be so much more flexible, and who knows what could happen. A couple of players who are supposedly struggling playing slightly differently, either further out wide, slightly deeper or even just out and out attack, whatever could be the magic answer. Summed up, we look to structured. Like an academy would play, pass the ball there release that player there. Just need to play with so much more freedom. Oh and can we use the whole pitch, not these zones that we play in.

Good window. JWP on loan to Forest. I get not in WH’s new manager plans. But it wasn’t long ago people were talking about why is he not going to the Euros. He would have done a great job for us on loan this season.
-
Good player, I have no idea but felt like he took our opportunity to go on to bigger and better teams. A great player, because it takes so much commitment and dedication to earn a pro contract with any team. I applaud him for that. Just can’t help feeling he thought he was better than us, and didn’t help that his finishing wasn’t upto an out and out number 9. Wish him all the best as he has played his part in a Saints shirt.

I’m panicking now, are we about to lose our Russell………………..

Academy football imo ruined my lads ability. That’s a league one club. Just concentrated in the big lads. All released after 2 year scholarship as a lot of his old team mates that he knows, have now started to turn up with his men’s team and others. They are so far behind technically because as you say they have all been caught up. Fortunately released before scholarship, went to play Futsal and grassroots and got back to the ability before he was picked up at 7 years old. Played step 5 and 6 since 16. Now Trialing at step 1 for next season. Gareth said it himself last night that we weren’t great on the ball. That says it all for me. The FA need to completely review their training manual, and why FA pulled all the funding for Futsal is just crazy. Changing the manager for another foreign superstar manager is a waste of time. It’s too late just inheriting the same players that have gone through imo a system that doesn’t really work.
