  1. Obviously agree on the levels here haha. Interestingly I was curious to see and Cam Archer and Bobby are the same height. 😂
  2. Fair shout, and I understand that line of thinking. It's the traditional No.9. I guess the point I was making is that when you look at City, Liverpool etc. there have been some really successful teams that have had smaller more technical forwards. Just thinking aloud about the way we are set up to play. I think we should consider the team more in that mold than the traditional big guy up top. When you consider this we've got a really solid team to suit that style of play.
  3. I'm talking about teams of seasons past. Both title winning squads. (Liverpool had firmino/salah/mane the year they won) Neither with big strong forwards in the starting lineup.
  4. But Why? I'm not trying to be obtuse here. But look at say Liverpool with Suarez or City with Aguero. Incredible teams and players and neither of them big or imposing. I'm not sure why we've got it in our heads that the only way to play is with a big lad up top.
  5. Genuine question. Do people not consider Archer a 9? He looks like one to me...
  6. They've been talking about it as if they expect it to be done.
  7. They've been talking about Fraser.
  8. Yeah it took me aback just how definitively he was talking. You kind of expect him to say 'He's had a set back but if he applies himself like he did tonight he's got a home here if he doesn't move on' But no.. Full boar, off you pop! 😂
  9. Nature of FFP means they need to speculate on lesser talent they can flip for profit. Will be more and more of these deals I think unless rules change.
  10. That's a hell of a first post fella...
  11. I'm probably also in the minority not sweating the need to see a 'proper No. 9' through the door. Nor am I worried about 'Where the goals are going to come from'. The way we play (Mostly with a false 9) is conducive the the whole team chipping in with goals particuarly from Wider positions. Which is what we saw bear out last season. If we were playing Jones ball then I'd be sweating it a lot more. Archer looks a sharp finisher and solid false 9 option. We've also got a fair bit of quality wider with BBD, Arma, SAA and support from Dibbling. You then add in goals from Midfield. Smallbone did well last season and Matt Fernandes looks an upgrade there.
  12. "I thought he did great when he came on tonight but I think, hopefully, it's shown the world that he is fine and he's been training, he's fit and he can play. "Honestly, I'm still so annoyed and angry at that lazy journalism over in Germany and I thought it was lacking context. Nonsensical, actually. "I'm really furious about it because Armel's fine - so we'll see. He's shown everyone he's fit and he played to a really good level when he came on the pitch. "We'll see where he ends up as he has got a lot of interest, I'm sure. We'll see." - Daily Echo
  13. Fraser brings others into play far better and is better defensively. Pure goals and assists are comparible but you only need to have watched them both last season to see which had a more positive influence on our overall performances.
  14. I got the impression based on what he said that it was moreso about putting him back in the shop window.
  15. Give me sport is an absolute dirt rag publication.
  16. Russ is also incredibly stubborn. I get the feeling that once you wrong him you might be dead to him 😂
  17. Really pleased to get Fraser as a squad option. Great worker, offers something different to what we have without him. I'd be happy for him as a bloke too. He's had a shit time of things up there definitely welcome here.
  18. This comment on the Youtube vid is interesting given we were supposedly in for Skipp earlier in the window. Same profile of player?
  19. Far better window this. Really good signings in and out. Might be the best window I can think of since Poch/Koeman.
  20. We scored more goals than any other team last season (if you include the playoffs) I don’t think we’re as impotent as you might think. The keeper situation was far more pressing and I’m glad it’s been resolved as that was statistically the worst in the league. With a good keeper we would have walked the league last year.
  21. Shame he doesn't seem to think so. I agree, he needs to prove himself, he's not a PL quality player YET. Would be great for his development.
  22. Paperwork submitted in time. Confident he can play against Brentford. -Sky Sports News
  23. JPW en route for medical at Forrest now. Season long loan.
  24. The Ramsdale signing feels like a real statement of intent from Russ. I know he was very quick to defend Gav last season but I truly believe it's because he was the best we had. Not because he was his first choice. Remembering Bazunu was brought in prior to Russ's appointment I thnk this speaks volumes about his true opinion on the matter. If he felt Gav was a nailed on number 1 we wouldn't have aimed quite so high on bringing in a replacement. Nor permanently. I think this is going to go down as one of the best bits of business we've done for the longterm future of the club in over 10 years.
  25. Agree, feels like this is more the player pushing for the move than us wanting to move him on. As such £10M is a good fee for a player in the last 12 months of his deal.
