  1. The best, most sensible and accurate assessment of our team I have seen on this forum for a long time. Results seem to trigger some incredible reactions. The vitriol against Martin is embarrassing, we’ve watched our team pass around under earlier managers but with no end result, but you can’t claim yesterday we had no plan. I agree, that the improving performances are really encouraging, and the inter linking and play is really effective at creating chances, as proved yesterday by the number of good openings we created. Unfortunately it was a bad day at the office in front of goal, as we consistently lacked composure or met an inspired keeper every time we created the chance. The performance demonstrates the ability and the team are showing much more commitment and fight, which was lacking during our poor run. Everyone feels disappointment over the result yesterday, but look at it another way, 17 points over 11 games will result in 70+ points at the end of the season, but this included a really poor run of 4 defeats in a row, so without that, and based on 7 points from the last 3 games we would reach 100+ points by the end of the season. So based on one result yesterday, we want the manager changed. Some fans are so knee jerk it is unreal. I for one am excited where Martin can take us this season. Let’s enjoy the ride and back the team and manager.
  2. So we are all going to ignore the chances we created then!! It is near on impossible to stop a team having any chances against you. The second half we hardly had a shot against us.
  3. How about watching a game of football and forming an opinion, rather than spouting the same shit the majority are spouting. It was much more pragmatic and tighter defensively, hence why Ipswich (who have been scoring for fun as a newly promoted team) were kept at arms length for most of the game. Our problem on Tuesday was that we didn’t show enough for the ball, providing few options for passes, as emphasised by Charles holding on to the ball too long for their goal. Much of the remainder of the game was controlled, but we continued not to offer enough options for the player on the ball. This, along with being more clinical, is all that needs to improve, and each game the squad play together the more it will show and we will become a consistently dominate team. Let’s start to give our managers a bit of support. We’ve spent the last 5/6 years booing them and where has that got us!! We asked for a style and identity and now we are trying to gain one the fan base want rid before it has been given a chance. How many new managers start a new style and have instant success - even Klopp at Liverpool had a really difficult start for probably half a season.
  4. This puts everything in context. I am so sorry to hear this and wish you and your wife all the love and best wishes possible.
  5. No, but remember, in the future when they spout his poor shot stopping statistics, the fact Leicester scored from the majority of attempts must mean he is shit. This match polarises why blaming the keeper has been totally wrong. The players in front of him have consistently let him down and exposed him to mostly unstoppable shots. Even then he sometimes manages to pull off a save. But he has become the scapegoat for our slide down to the championship. Complete unfounded and actually unfair. There are many other issues need resolving in the team such as learning how to defend as a unit, all taking personal responsibility for not allowing the opposite to shoot or block it, and certainly stop a f*#king cross one in a while, Jesus.
  6. The issue with the rules of football, and the offside rule in particular, is that the governing bodies have continually tried to over complicate the rules. It is now difficult for the players, officials and fans to interpret these rules. The rule should be that, if a player is further forward than more than 1 player of the opposite team they are offside, irrespective of this rubbish about “interfering with play”. The linesman now has to try to determine multiple factors when deciding whether to put the flag up. This is the problem with football. All other sports have strict rules with limited variants, making it so much easier to officiate.
  7. It would be useful to see how many shots against and the passes in final third for better context
  8. This sums it up for me. Even the goal being claimed to be a howler, actually wasn’t. It was a very well hit shot, and he managed to get a hand too, in a very similar way to Onana yesterday against Rice. Sometimes the goalie can get in the way of a shot and it still go in. Look at Patterson’s flukey ricochet in the second half. If this has been Bazunu it would have been called terrible keeping. The modern approach, especially using social media/ forums is to be extremely harsh as the other person cannot see you, when in real life you’d be a little more sensitive to the body language (reaction from the other party). Bazunu is certainly not deliberately making mistakes but is being exposed to far more clear cut chances than most other keepers over the last 15 months. Let’s have a bit of patience and sort out the teams defensive approach and then judge.
  9. Exactly the team I would play. Charles was the biggest miss yesterday, we need him covering the centre allowing the wing backs and Alcaraz to get forward.
  10. I think it was more likely a calf strain, or ligament damage to the calf/ ankle.
  11. When was the “cocking about with it” event(s) in the game yesterday. He actually seemed to be much more assured and not messing about with the ball yesterday, unlike both our centre backs who got away with at least a couple each where Plymouth nearly nicked the ball.
  12. Unfortunately, as you say KWP leaves Hardie, but it appears to be premeditated, I think to be taken up by Bernarek, as he enters his “zone” but Bednarek is ball watching and just allows him to get across him and knock it in the goal.
  13. It absolutely was. His anticipation and desire to get in position or to block shots is woeful. He was responsible for at least 2 of the goals last week. Everyone talking about CB replacements seems to have a blind spot for how poor he is. He must be replaced if we are to achieve promotion.
