  1. That won't ever happen
  2. Another sitter missed
  3. Get him in the box, the the ball into him and he will score. Great goal
  4. Redmond is a great talent and a good signing, he just shouldn't be playing up front. It's all very well saying "he does all the right things it's just his finishing is poor" but finishing is a pretty important quality in a striker. We have numerous hard working midfielders who won't score many goals between them, Tadic is a brilliant player but his weakness is his finishing, we need goals from somewhere. Austin and Rodriguez (possibly Boufal who we haven't seen play) are the only players in this squad who have the potential to get 15-20 goals in a season. We need at least one of them playing up front centrally, not tracking back full backs
  5. Puel, like his mentor Wenger, is as stubborn as can be and will persist with Redmond as a striker. Everyone can quite clearly see our best team is a 433 with Austin through the middle, Tadic left and Redmond right. Except Puel, because he likes to over complicate things to try and justify his salary
  6. Morgan doesn't care about his career, or France, or anything other than money and prestige. He plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world earning significantly more than if he played for us or Spurs. The lesson is don't force a move to an ok club, set your sights a bit higher and aim for the biggest clubs
  7. I'm not sure it is starting to take shape. I'd expect the diamond to help us in games against the better sides as it does allow us to control the ball a bit more (in theory) and whatever formation we play you will always get that bit much more space in attacking areas to create a few chances against the big teams. The problem is next weekend when we will come up against another team who will be organised and make it hard for us, and I'd wager we will get a performance more like S'land than yesterday. When we don't play with width then it becomes hard to create chances, and even if we do we won't have our main goalscorer on the pitch to convert them as Austin is clearly completely unsuited to the system. I've yet to see a single good reason for us playing this diamond over a more traditional 433/4231 with Austin or Long playing as a natural centre forward.
  8. Do Man Utd not count as a better side?
  9. 2-0 loss if playing the diamond
  10. Shots inside the box as a percentage of total shots we are the lowest in the league. Last season we were 2nd. Shots on target percentage we are currently 14th. Last season we were 12th. We are 9th for accurate crosses this season and last season were 1st I'm not a fan of stats but the only way you could interpret them so far is that Puel's style of play is completely ineffective
  11. Only 36% of those shots have been from inside the penalty area which is the lowest in the league. We're also the third highest for possession so far. We've very good at passing it pointlessly until we get towards the box, and then we have no idea how to break them down so shoot speculatively. That's what the stats say. Boring football
  12. A good window IMO. We have 2 good players for every position and room for a couple of youngsters to get some chances if good enough. I'd have liked us to move on Targett and Yoshida and replaced with better but you can't have it all. I'm certainly glad we didn't get involved in some of the ridiculous fees flying around
  13. That's due to the manager, not the squad. If we were playing a 433/4231 then we would be fine with Austin, Long and a fit again Rodriguez Once the diamond has been binned we will be fine up front
  14. Hojbjerg is better than Wanyama

    Puel

We're all waiting for the variation
  16. I disagree. The way you've just dismissed the new deals is ridiculous frankly. I don't see any other club getting 7 or 8 first team players signing new contracts in a summer. That alone will be hugely important for us moving forwards over the next few windows as we now have complete control over when/if we sell them and what sort of fees we get. In my opinion Austin, IF played correctly (a big if judging by the manager so far), can score more goals than Pelle, not to mention Rodriguez is now fit as well and if he is anywhere near his level pre-injury then he would be our best centre forward by a mile, and in today's market would be a 30 million+ player. Two important players returning from injury that weren't available for huge periods of last season, and I trust the fitness staff to have a better idea regarding their fitness than supporters who have no idea about that sort of information Hojbjerg is a better player than Wanyama and he will prove it this season. Wanyama has had his big career move and the best he'll ever get is Spurs, Hojbjerg will be moving to much bigger clubs than that in a few years time. He's looked at his best IMO in the holding role (Guardiola seems to agree with that having compared him to Busquets) so he is a Wanyama replacement. An upgrade at that. We have replaced Mane with Boufal and will have to see how it works out, but I think most are encouraged by that signing. And Redmond will clearly offer us a huge amount more than Juanmi. I think the squad is stronger, the doubt I have is whether the manager is anywhere near as good as the last one and whether he can get the best out of them
  17. Martina, Pied, Clasie, Pelle. I'd be amazed if they were on our shortlists rather than just being the picks of managers
  18. It's going to be Redmond and Boufal up front
  19. NO, and it's lazy for them to say so. Transfer business is not the problem, the manager is
  20. Pretty dreadful but I don't blame any of the players, all of them worked bloody hard but clearly do not suit the formation being asked of them. We've acually made a couple of really good signings in Redmond and Hojbjerg. Everyone knows what our best team and formation is but we have hired a stubborn manager who refuses to change it. Be very surprised if he makes it to Christmas
  21. Because it's incredibly easy to play against. We are narrow with the ball and therefore create little, and narrow without it which gives them an easy out ball and with the full backs out of position the centre backs get exposed out wide in places they have no interest in being
  22. You'll probably be called a wum for this, but I think you're right
  23. We'll lose. They'll defend deep, we won't create enough and they have the pace on the counter attack to get a goal
  24. I think we'll lose 1 nil, having 70% possession but few chances and Defoe will get one late on. Puel will pick the same formation with the same front two who will struggle to find space in behind with S'land defending deep. Puel comes across as incredibly stubborn and I don't think the diamond is going anywhere anytime soon, nor do I think he has any interest in getting Austin in the team. Hope I'm wrong
  25. I'm not sure he was as precise on that as he was about Austin and Pelle. Either way i think it's fairly obvious the club want another attacking option and if they don't bring another one in then they will have ****ed up and left us far too light. They have another 10 days to get it done, which I'm confident they will. Their choice in manager I'm far less confident about
