  2. Blimey! Do you still exist?
  3. Now reported on BBC, albeit as 'according to Scunny chairman' http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8983286.stm We are looking more foolish, and less attractive to other candidates, by the day
  4. Exactly IF all this is true, and that is a big if, then this is a complete **** up, even for that reason alone. Who will want to come here now? How much confidence will they have in cortese's support for them?
  5. That's the point isn't it? They are entitled to compensation. If Adkins did just resign then we'd end up with some sort of tribunal fixing compensation anyway, like happens with under 24 year old players. Of course that can be interpreted 2 ways: 1) we going to have pay anyway, so why not just do it. 2) S****horpe want too much so we'd rather a third party decided how much Meanwhile it appears that Adkins wants the best for his old club (good for him, within reason) . Reminds me of Walcott getting us a good deal from Arsenal when he could have walked, for less.
  6. JOKIN ? Please god you don't mean Jo Kinnear or we really are in a downward spiral.
  7. not really what that article says is it? It actually just tells us that Brown wants the job, not that he's likely to get it
  8. North Hants! Who's the manager of Basingstoke Town? Mind you, personally I think I'm going for this Victor Chandler fella. All the smart money seems to be going to him.
  9. Last week's Sunday Times pools forecast had the game as an away win. I'd save your money.
  10. Hmm. "by the weekend". So Friday is the new tomorrow. Won't give him (whoever) much time to make any assessment of, or impact on, the players, so in effect it will still be Wilkins's team on Saturday. We could really do with winning these away games , not just for the points but also to take the pressure off for the next home game, the new manager's first in charge in front of the majority of fans. What I'm dreading is a bad start at home with idiot fans chanting "you don't know what you're doing " or Pardew's name.
  11. Tomorrow is the new Friday
  12. No. You're missing the obvious. It's going to be Antony Pulis. Why else would he still be on our books ?
  13. I've never met the bloke. He may be a saint walking on Earth, in every sense of the phrase, for all I know. I'm sure the scenario you describe is correct; he is approached by lazy journalists because they have his name from the last time. What I resent is that he allows them to imply he is representing the majority of fans' opinions. He isn't. At best he is representing the opinion of his clique of mates. It is possible for him simply to say, "no, I do not wish to comment".
  14. O'Neill managed non-league at Wycombe ..and got them into the league and promoted. He may be a limo, but he has 4 wheel drive.
  15. As others have said I don't see that Adkins "shows that Cortese knows what he is doing" as 5-live commentators said the appointment would. That phrase implied the new man would be a big name --someone of at least the same reputation/stature as Pardew. Adkins has yet to prove himself to be that good. But that's not to say he won't turn out to be a good appointment. He may well be excellent and he'll have my support, as do all the players. [although I reserve the right to occasionally suggest that he may have made a bad decision and may wish to reconsider ..in much the same way as I occasionally politely suggest this to the referee ;-) ] Only M.O'Neill as the appointment would have actually got me saying wow, and that was always a pipe dream.
  16. As sugested elsewhere, probably the current caretaker at Villa. Let's face it he has no chance of getting that job permanently and may well even lose his old job when the new bloke brings in his own staff. Wilkins is presumably feeling similarly vulnerable here. K.
  17. I imagine NC has met with very many agents, and probably a few actual candidates by now. Don't think I'll be putting a bet on him. K.
  18. Or to put it another way, are you nuts Trousers? K.
  19. Look. It's obvious. Andrew LLoyd Webber was at the Orient game. During the match he did a deal with Cortese to film a new Saturday night series: "How do you solve a problem like Southampton?", with a panel of Alan Hansen, Gabby Logan and Gary Lineker judging contenders for the job. We should have a new manager by about July. Now will all you **** artists stop talkng rubbish unless you really do have some worthwhile gossip to pass on. K.
  20. That link says that saints still do not have clearance for Do Padro! Bloody Italians are really being slow it appears. K.
  21. He's only about 5'9" or 5' 10", so would have to play alongside someone tall if he were at centre back .. more of a (very) poor man's Fonte than a potential partner for Fonte. Surely not a credible centre back signing for us? What is more he is just about to turn 33. If we hadn't already got 3 left backs then yes, he'd be a good signing at this level, but with the options we have there already, surely not. K.
  22. And was it £3 for the two, or £3 each ticket? (Am st holder so rarely buy odd tickets) K.
  23. Blimey! I'd heard of "Godwin's law", that ''As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1", but I don't think I've previously seen demonstrated the Saints Forum corollary that, "All discussions about new signings eventually involve a Jane Austen quote related to Alpine Saint" ;-) K.
  24. Hines is not so daft a call. He was injured in January but was supposedly hoping to be fit again for this season. If he is on his way back, it may be that West Ham see loaning him out to a lower division club as way to bring him back to full fitness. Or maybe they just think he'll never be as good as he was before the injury! K.
  25. His full name of Guilherme is probably pronounced something like guwillerm, with the uw very short, so God knows how he get Goolie as a nickname, but the song just has to be ging gang goolie watcha, as others have said. Just as long as he avoids being kicked in the nicknames! K.
