Been first to so many 50/50 balls, which helps make up for all the small bad decisions from the ref. Do United sit right back against everybody, or do they just think they can pick us off on the break?
-
Sully was one of our less bad players against Brentford.probably rated a low average ? He did at least look bothered and sort of kept their right side occupied for at least part of the game.
-
I thought he would go on to great things when he scored that goal. Which just goes to show…..

Armel Bella-Kotchap - Official: Signs for Verona
Teamsaint1 replied to Ldnsaint's topic in The Saints
Agree about the back 5, but Fernandes and Downes are comfortably PL level too. Problem is without one or both of them we are well adrift of the level required. -
Hard to know where we go from here. Having our two best midfielders out was a big handicap, but even so that was an utter shambles, almost as bad a Spurs. With Downes and Fernandes out,and Brentford’s ability to break at speed we should have been much more conservative.

Sorry, I meant the yellow card !! The way things are going, it’ll probably get upgraded to a red
-
Are we appealing the yellow card from yesterday ? Annoyed at missing see him against Brentford, he is such a good player . He’ll play for a top 6 side at some point.
-
The media ( BBC etc) seems to havequite a bit about Saints fans having a go at the team. Support sounded good to me, despite not having much to cheer other than a decent defensive performance.
-
We have our own number 6 in Downes. And he can't be the new number two unless we sell KWP. Who is No 1 ? Ramsdale of course. So It doesn't add up...

Working from home.

Well it is easy to criticise, I do it, and they often deserve it. But Cornet came with decent PL credentials, and BBD with enough to recommend him as at least a useful bench option. Archer was presumably the Adams replacement, and although our fans turned against Adams, players with even his modest PL scoring record are hard to find and stupidly expensive. From that list, Fraser could hardly have done worse than Sully, and does at least make some useful contributions. Taylor has been given little chance ( for whatever reason,) despite being our most experienced LB. Tall Paul fits in the same group, I guess. So the recruitment people could argue that some, if not all of the issues are with the management of the players rather than recruitment itself, mediocre though that recruitment has been. (Stewart was a disaster waiting to happen of course...)

Some of them really didn’t look that bothered. Or were so baffled by what we were trying to do that it made them look as though they weren’t bothered. I thought last season was about par given our squad, with a great semi final Playoff performance and a decent effort in the final in which we had a big and perfectly timed slice of luck. In the end he gave us a great day at Wembley. But his system/ tactics/ squad have failed almost every test this season, and this is, I’m afraid, well overdue. That was the worst 45 minute performance I can remember, and was completely inexcusable.

I agree, I also think we will be in a better place than after the last relegation. And I think this was factored into the summer recruitment , ie putting together a squad that will be very competitive in the championship next season. But we will still owe a lot of money on THB and Ramsdale, and if Ferdy goes for £30m the profit would be maybe £20 m. Dibling, who knows what he will go for, but hopefully a huge sum, around your figure. So yes, I think we will have enough money to replace where we need to, and plenty of very good Championship players, but a good chunk of any transfer profit will be eaten up in liabilities still owing on transfers, and loss of PL income.
-
Chelseas didn't even have to press us very hard before the mistake came , and we looked pretty comfortable on the ball early on , given the very difficult situation. Other PL sides manage to balance keeping the ball with minimising game changing mistakes, and I really don’t think that our players are that much worse than the teams immediately above us.
-
We”ll presumably not get a great deal more than what we still owe on THB and Ramsdale. Well make some good profit on MF and a big chunk on Dibling, but with the loss of PL income, we’ll do well to add very much to the remains of the squad I should think ?
-
Perhaps RM and Charlie Taylor can be a bit professional and sort out their differences before Weds night. Anyway, good point that. going to have to set up very carefully on Weds.

We have scored a quarter of all the goals conceded by liverpool in the PL this season ,in fact !

Training ?

Thanks both, very interesting responses. I did a little reading around this, and learned a bit about how these attacks happen. But " attack" seems to be a slightly misleading term, it seems to be more of an ongoing process of probing for vulnerabilities ? As a side issue, one might assume that people brought in to deal with these issues for big outfits will be earning rather good money ?! I know there were issues around NHS sites using XP when it was no longer supported, so there must be very real concerns around government sites I should think.
-
With the Blue Yonder attack still in progress ,and being somebody who knows next to nothing about the issue, other than it happens a lot, I wonder if people on here have any knowledge or expertise to share ? Some of these attacks seem to take a very long time to fix . Why is that ? if companies such as Blue Yonder are vulnerable , you might reasonably think that government and other key systems really are at significant risk ? Anyway, be interested to hear informed thoughts.

I think it was terrible weather that night too. Or it had been during the day Certainly the smallest crowd for any first team game I can recall. I was stood on the Milton with a large area all to myself. And we played badly. And Lost.
-
Charlie Taylor anywhere to be seen ?
-
Thought we were decent in the first half, and lucky in the second, but the goal deserved to win a game. might just help to settle nerves a bit.
-
Probably did what they could today. Stay in the game, at. 1-0 there is always a chance. But the next two games are the real thing. Time for excuses runs out very soon.
-
The four defeats in a row followed a pretty unconvincing start , two very late winners and a soft pen equaliser would be one way of looking at it. Things didn't look particularly rosy 8 games in, not least because two of the defeats were heavy ones. I guess there were reasons for optimism then, and there are some now, if we are looking for reasons to be cheerful. And , looking at Forest's excellent result on Saturday our start may actually have been harder than we thought it might be. Who knows ,at this stage ?
