  1. Why would they need to be seperate things? Ramirez showed his best for us under Nigel Adkins when we played a more open attacking system. With more space to work in and more time on the ball he looked a better player. Koeman preaches attacking football and it may be in a way that again would give Ramirez the space and freedom to show the ability he has on occasion done. (Even under Pochettino he had moments, the high through ball to Lallana v West Brom, the long range strike v Everton.) It is naturally Ronald Koeman's call, but to call for a clearly talented man to be thrown away on the basis of the previous manager's set up would be a complete folly.
  2. Please stop quoting Alpine guys, it's as bad as when Barry Sanchez was stirring.
  3. As was Sir Bobby Robson after Euro 88'. The headline after a friendly draw with Saudi Arabia: "In the name of Allah, Go!"
  4. God his work is so painful to read. One sentence paragraphs ensure that the target market doesn't lose interest. Yet this seems at odd with the melodramatic tone. Or perhaps not. Cater for your audience.
  5. Absolutely. I would love nothing more then to see that player from that game return, it was the most exciting 45 minutes i've seen from any player in Saints colours. I hope the change in manager allows him to shine as he clearly was not happy under Pochettino.
  6. Yes, they took their chances and played very well. All credit to them. It was a tough group made even tougher by an outsider showing their worth.
  7. As the one who actually said that in the match day thread. Yes, I believe so. Firstly, we are actually looking like a team now, we have been able to pass the ball and create chances. Secondly, The team is now shedding the vestiges of the alleged 'Golden Generation' and has younger talent coming in to provide a platform for the future, rather then a reliance on the same old/same old. Thirdly, The stability in management has seen us progress from a highly defensive pragmatic outfit in 2012 to one that does look to have some kind of attacking plan. Had our strikers actually remembered what planet they are on (Sturridge could have had at least three goals, Rooney's miss v Italy was astonishing) then we would be looking forward to the second round. The big negative is our defence. Cahill and Jagielka simply are not an international pairing. It is disappointing but I do see positives and a clear improvement over prior tournaments. In 2010 we were dreadful and scrapped out of a straightforward group. Had we played with a more clinical edge would have performed respectably, as it was to be though our defensive frailties and a genius madman did the damage.
  8. And yet still light years ahead of four years ago.
  9. The Luton short pattern offers a more subtle alternative.
  10. Right, that's the 14/15 home kit sorted. I'm off down the pub.....
  11. I actually quite like that. Certainly seems far more 'Sotonian' then our last two year's designs.
  12. As stated above though there are a lot of overpriced foreign players in the top two divisions too. Could this actually be a reflection of our own coaching practices in this country that there are not more high standard young players coming through our bigger clubs rather then it being a symptom of an invasion of foreigners? It clearly is not an accident that we succeed in bringing through talent better then seemingly bigger clubs... Chelsea rejected Shaw for heaven's sake for being too small. Some of the attitudes here are still in the dark ages.
  13. But equally a lot of british talent has been stiffled by being purchased by the top clubs and then stockpiled. Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell, Scott Parker (when he went to Chelsea, pointless), Wilfried Zaha potentially too. There are pro's and cons to moving to a more successful club... to assume it will automatically benefit the national team is extremely blinkered and rather arrogant.
  14. That would do very nicely. Always liked that kit, extremely distinctive.

    Back three?

I could only see this being Yoshida, Lovren, Fonte with a combination of Chambers/Clyne at RWB and Shaw at LWB. Wanyama and Morgan shielding the back four and providing an outlet. Using our current squad. -------------------- Rodriguez --------------------- Lallana ------------------------------------ Ramirez ------------ Wanyama ----- Schneiderlin ----------- Shaw --------------------------------- Chambers/Clyne -------- Fonte ------ Lovren ----- Yoshida ----------- --------------------- Boruc -------------------------- Subs: K Davis, Targett, Hooiveld, Ward-Prowse, S. Davis, Gallagher, Cork. We really need some new blood.
  16. I only need 2 more! They are: Andres Iniesta, 119 and Ivan Franjic, 171. Can anyone help?
  17. Will never forget that, was absolutely astonishing. Couldn't help but applaud. He will never hit one that good again for the rest of his career.
  18. Any questions mate do let me know. I still live in the city (hopefully not for much longer though, solicitors permitting) so would be happy to help.
  19. I attended Coventry University, Studied Automotive Engineering Design between 2002-06. The Campus is bang on city central with it's main admin building just opposite the cathedral steps, a mixture of old Polytechnic and modern university buildings. Personally I had a great time there and found Coventry to be an interesting, friendly... if not exactly pretty place to be. The City centre is almost entirely contained within the inner ring road, you simply cannot get lost. The specialty of the University is it's Engineering Department with a very good Nursing school too. As for Criminology/Law.... yes they do them but if the reputation of the course is a key factor I would look elsewhere.

"When did you last attend a football game at your clubs stadium." Despite being a season ticket holder, surely the time of year will horribly skew that question.
  21. Indeed, thankfully it was Mr J G Key who used 'your' incorrectly.
  22. They are Legion.
  23. Which contradicts a post from earlier which said that Ronald flew in today.
  24. That's probably the biggest case of 'Putting it mildly' I've ever come across!
  25. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27859958 An updated BBC reported. He's 'poised.'
