I agree. Wonderful that an academy lad has fought his way to become an integral part of the team but he doesn't seem to be a natural leader. There are also areas he needs to improve in his own game (positional sense, covering his full back) that a captain should be able to do and use as a platform for leading the side. It is slightly curious especially when you consider that some arguably 'unwinable' games became the backbone of our survival last season! It could be something indicating the intricate and preconceived heiracy of clubs in the english game and the psychology of those within the game towards it. They were so key to their play last year, Steve Clark's tactics at St Mary's were spot on, let us push up, draw us in then catch us on the break using Lukaku and to a lesser extent Fortune and their third striker (Irish... forget his name) to punish us with their pace and power. His ability to replace 2 of those three will determine how their season goes.

Something sensible has happened... the FA Cup Final has been scheduled for the 17th May. The Premier League season finishes on the 10th/11th. Just so long it's also a 3pm kick off then it's ideal. Should Saints get there (let me dream....) it will be exactly how it should be. No other games to distract from it.
