Pointless Early 2014/15 Kit Speculation Thread
Colinjb replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Considering that it is currently 2013... the logic is totally sound. -
Yes, I totally understand the logic in what you say, less sales = commercial pressure on the club. It is not my desire though to damage the club, just see the stripes return and hopefully highlight the issue to those that care.
-
The campaign is for a return to stripes. Not to boycott the club merchandise or damage the club in any way. If people want to avoid buying the shirt to back up their point, I totally understand.
-
Equally one sale will not make a difference either. I dislike the design, but I will buy the shirt. I've always been upfront about that. I collect them for heaven's sake!! It will however always be my absolute preference and desire for the team and club I support to play in red and white stripes. That conviction will not change. That is why I started the campaign. I completely understand the apparent contradiction..... respectfully though it's my own business what I do with my money. I hope next year to be spending it on a red and white striped home shirt.
-
Because I want us to be in stripes. Not solid red. - It is clear I am not alone in that desire. I don't want to damage the club in any way and I will not damage my own habits because of it but I want to see us back in stripes.
-
Yep. We are sponsored by a cubed monkey!
-
Despite starting the #saveourstripes campaign... yes I will be buying it. I collect the shirts, I will continue the collection. It will no doubt be nice to wear and be reasonably made.... but it is not a 'Southampton' kit.
-
I believe the away shirt will be black with gold trim, not silver.
-
Oh Kraken..........
-
Well, one is stitched the other screen printed. At least the sponsor is not as obtrusive this year.
-
Gold! Always believe in your soul...........
-
They are in the armed forces. One of my best friends was laid off this morning.
-
Fastest selling. Not biggest selling. It just means that at the point it went on sale they sold more per minute/hour then any other shirt on record.... of course it depends what data they have on record to justify it against.
-
Good info Alpine, thank you. Has anyone researched flights/travel at all?

For those who care, never too late to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/saveourstripes/

As I understand it Erazo is a centre back. Wanyama, while primarily a DM he can also play at CB. So not quite a Forster/Hooper comparison.

Dear Budweiser Thankyou for bringing the competing Belleville brand, manufactured by a tiny english micro-brewery to my attention. I have now ordered some after it's profile was raised thanks to you suing them. I look forward to the refreshing domestically brewed beer arriving. Regards.

Yep, about time the overseas fuel allowance went. Mum lives in Malta and has been claiming it.... really a very dodgy loophole.
-
With the kind words from Neil Lennon.... I have a feeling this has a little longer to run.

Noticed of all things a lad called Eric Dier. Plays for Sporting Lisbon. 19 year old centre back. Is he playing today? -
Anyone see Laura Robson yesterday? Very impressive.
-
Bearsy will be delighted to hear that. He's missed you. Sorry.....
-
Oh, Oh no... that'll just make him think he's 'winning.'
-
Got it. 62% backing stripes 9% Sash 9% Similar to this year 8% Something retro (Rank Xerox-ey) 12% Not Stoke/Sunderland. Yeah, it's just us.

Nonetheless the sample rate taken for the kit design poll which showed in excess of 2/3rd supporting stripes was not small, over 450 people. This is an environment where more 'extremes' of opinion exist in comparison to the general Saints supporting public but it is still a sizeable poll and the biggest snapshot available as to fan opinion. It would be interesting to see what response a more public poll, say one held by the echo would reveal. Equally though, it would be just as delusional to ignore the results of that poll out of hand simply because it may not fit your ideal. As for sales figures reflecting the popularity and approval for the shirt. I'll still be buying it... even if (the design still isn't official...) I hate it. I have a collection to maintain and I like wearing the replicas to games. I shall still be hoping for a return to stripes sooner rather then later though.
