  1. Ok, sharp not smart, but lets not split hairs, still a very positive assessment. And surely it would be a sharp move to move Saints in identical circumstances, no? And as for the creation of an AFC, you wouldn't complain, be unhappy? Even if the new club did everything it could to claim the history of the prior entity.... the entity you supported and put so much into? The point is that the Wimbledon fans didn't get a say, their club was struggling and it was purchased by someone who wanted to uproot it, they were not given a chance to save it themselves, the rug was pulled from under them. (There is also no way of saying for certain that the club would have folded while in South West London, it only finally went into administration after the plans to move were finalised, after the fans admitted defeat and withdrew their support for the franchise it had become and only after it had tried to survive at Champiosnhip level for several months on away attendances alone.) It set a horrifying precident, one that can no longer be followed thankfully.
  2. Well, you described it as a smart move. If there was a town up country larger then Southampton that would have been able to provide a brighter future it would surely also be considered in the same light, no?
  3. I've no doubt the move for Arsenal was controversial, but it is in no way the same as going from South West London to an entirely fabricated new town which already had a club. Did the existing Woolwich fans set up a new club? If yes then all credit to them and I wish them well. If they didn't then there obviously wasn't as big a deal in moving them a comparatively short distance at a time when football was still embryonic within the public mindset. - Something which was obviously not the case for the original Wimbledon. If Milton Keynes had deserved a league club then the town should have got behind their existing team that Pete Winkleman's farce killed off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Keynes_City_F.C. I'm glad saints didn't relocate to a move profitable part of the country when we were on our knees. Looks like you would have been more then supportive!
  4. Yes PES, this thread ran it's course last week, despite the PST takeover having not completed, or truly progressed in any way. You are a pitiful cornered animal.
  5. Just got one for a relative for Christmas. Any recommended apps for it? Have to say, for the money and ease of use, an impressive bit of kit!
  6. No, I do not, but Arsenal did not move conurbations, just the side of the river and as far as I am aware, didn't kill the existing club and another one where it moved to. Had Wimbledon FC had been liquidated it would have been the same difference, at least they wouldn't have been hurried on their way.
  7. Individually I'm sure they are probably not. But as an entity they are an utter abomination. If Milton Keynes was meant to have a league football club it should have grown organically from the Milton Keynes FC that were driven out of business by the franchise. Wimbledon died to bring league football to that town, thank heavens the rules have changed to stop it happening again. The people as ****s? Not in isolation, the entire club? Oh yes.
  8. If chosing now, I would go with the Google Nexus 4, i'm delighted with my S3, but what you get for the cash with that phone is astonishing.
  9. That is quite laughable. Mind games at best, being a **** at worst.
  10. Liverpool's method always used to be interesting, sign up promising lads aged 19-20, give them a year in the reserves to learn Liverpool's way of playing and then bring them into the first team once they are up to speed. Ian Rush from Chester, Keegan from S****horpe, Alan Hansen from Partick Thistle, Again, there were exceptions (Phil Neal, wonder if we can find a 4th tier defender that could fit straight in.....) but a player shouldn't be written off simply because they do not make an immediate impact.
  11. Nail on head. The culture of win above all at youth levels only serves to damage our national team and domestic players. It encourages the promotion of youngsters who can win games due to physicality and physique above skill, many kids do not physically mature until they are 18-21 yet they are written off before the full picture is known. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but players that have dropped out for being 'too small,' Kevin Phillips, Dennis Wise.... from our own youth system no less are proof. It's a blessing that we are looking at things beyond the results of 90 minutes in these games, one off games where the team is actually weakened due to it's success in promoting it's better players through. That our academy is consistently successful is the main thing, not the one off game last night.
  12. Particularly when you put Lallana in there too (a player who needed time to develop, couldn't have been thrown straight into the side due to his heart condition). Having Ben Reeves involved is also a great sign.
  13. They have said that they will fulfill the fixture 'in a professional manner' in a BBC article. How their fans will treat it an away tie, not sure. It's easier to boycott then a home game. It's not far from here, would be tempted to go and cheer them on personally.
  14. It would depend who they are. I would assume that if they were trying to offload them though that they are over the hill. Therefore, no. No certainty that these players would be an improvement or be certain of survival, if it was a swap of Gaston for safety it's a no brainer, but it doesn't work like that. Also, this left back may be an extremely short term option in the position and may even stifle the development of Shaw if he deprives him of game time. Gaston will hold his value if he can reproduce some of the form shown in the Villa game.... if Matt Jarvis costs 10 million and Steven Fletcher 12-14 million, we will at least get our money back (wages notwithstanding.)
  15. Get that toaster nice and warm for Christmas.
  16. Youtube will be fine, it's part of Google so will be utterly ok. The main issue would be something like Saints Player which does need it. The iPhone 5 and all Apple products do not support it either anyway, so it's becoming less of an issue as most widely used websites are moving away from it.
  17. Yago Falque. Knew he would come back to haunt us.... what is it with ex players recently.
  18. Those days 9 years ago when there were dreams of a future Saints team being built around the talents of Leandre Griffit, Fitz Hall and Yoann Folly. My personal favourite was always Dexter Blackstock, such promise in his first few appearances but at a time when we were imploding, then we shipped him off to QPR. He's never quite fulfilled his potential for me, even though the Forest fans love him.
  19. Babylon 5: A Retrospective. After a few months of effort, I have now watched the entirety of Babylon 5 through from start to finish. In summary, it's a masterpiece. It takes a little while to find it's feet and a few episodes in series 1 are absolutely terrible, but even in these there are seeds of information, plot and reference that can go on to have surprising importance in the overall narrative. This is an ongoing story, the episodes cannot be watched on their own, you real need to give the show time and once you are in you are in for a treat. From the end of series 2 through to the end of series 4 this is the best science fiction show I have ever seen, it even eclipses the remake of Battlestar Galactica. Series 5 provides a fitting prologue to the drama but cannot find it's own path, it is just giving closure. Every single character goes on a journey, Sheridan's rise from soldier to Leader, Delenn emerging as the heart of the show, G'Kar's growth from a thug into an unwilling spiritual focal point for his people and the tragedies of Londo Mollari and Susan Ivanova. All woven against the backdrop of themes of chaos, free will, religion and odd as it may sound the role of parenthood in the context of a galactic war. This series deserves to be updated and remade, the only thing it lacks now are the production values of it's modern day counterparts, but special effects improve dramatically as the show goes on. Oh, and the DVD's are now dirt cheap if you know where to look. Highly recommended to any sci-fi geeks like myself.
  20. This is a first, i've never been labelled that before!
  21. It's a napoleonic war reference isn't it?
  22. Depends who the family is involved with. The lad obviously holds more extreme views to many (based on the deletion of his twitter account), perhaps they have history?
  23. It's quite funny how my opinion is clear yet you keep asking the same questions, i'm not wasting my time answering them again, particularly as you are preferring to be evasive rather then direct. The common ground is that we all agree that Mclean's decision was questionable, that's enough for me.
  24. No, Clyne was pushed upfield supporting an attack, Fonte was the other option, still under pressure but a far better ball playing centre back. Gazza didn't need to unload the ball straight away either, so further error was made in the panicked clearance.
