I really can't predict what will happen next year, as mentioned I think we'll have a better idea once we have a new manager and know what the team will look like. I do however think Birmingham will win the league with Ipswich going up in second, which leaves us in the playoffs picture with a dozen or so other teams.

Been a while since last "where are they now (posters)" thread?

Some names there! Remember having the misfortune of a train journey back from Cardiff with badboysaint who was a complete weapon the whole time. The9 is still about, I play football with him and Rabbit (can't find orange text) now and again. -

Is your nephew Onyango? If so he was pretty impressive when I saw him earlier in the season!

The last kit designed by a saints fan...

I can only assume that's why RvN might stay? Financially it makes sense?

Did it work out for Farke? I mean last season that Leeds team should of been at least second and he got outplayed tactically by Martin. I agree Burnley did it right with Parker, but lets face it they'll be propping up the Premier League next season..
-
Steve Bracknell, give him the reigns! 😁
-
I like him and he's willing to adapt to win which is what we're all crying out for.

The Championship is a horrible league to get out of and even with parachute payments it doesn't mean you'll be up there. So for a lot of 'established' managers its just not worth the risk, why drop down when you can get a job in the top flight and challenge the best. Taking a job with 'less' money at someone like Wolves is far more attractive than us..
-
Agree. Also, I'm surprised that nobody uses the 'Delap' anymore. I remember Ben Foster speaking recently that the long throw is one of the hardest things to defend against, surely teams like us and Leicester could have a rare advantage by deploying a tactic like that.
-
Unique case, he was taking a huge salary from Newcastle and knew they'd return instantly with the team they had.
-
Nailed it. It was cringeworthy seeing the posts of 'Potter' & 'Moyes' after Martin left, which were often followed up by bemoaning SR for going for the 'cheap option'. As mentioned we're not going to be able to attract anyone of huge premier league experience and certainly not anyone of any real note, which means we'll get the dregs or someone who is relatively unproven. Rohl seems to have some potential but we'll see what happens if as reported Leipzig come in for him, Still is rising up the betting and again a young coach who could end up being good in the long run. After that, it's nobody of real note and one could argue Rusk & Lallana would be a better pairing than someone like Gerrard coming in..

Mariela Nisotaki - New Head of Talent Acquisition
leesaint88 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I hope she does bloody well! Additionally I can't believe we have individuals doubting her talent because she's a woman? Christ 🙄... -
Didn't he turn down Sunderland last summer though? Personally I don't think he wants a Championship gig...
-
Apparently because they are under sanctions and unable to export to the US, they weren't included in the list..
-
The obvious choice will be at right back, with KwP leaving and Sugawara likely to head off too all we're left with is Bree. Out wide will be another as players move on and again we're lacking upfront too.
-
Exactly that. The problem for us is that we had a large squad with a number back on premier league wages, Ipswich were in a slightly different position where they had a lower wage bill so they had a bit more wiggle room. Still, they certainly pushed as close as the PSR limit as they could get..
-
Fair analysis and pretty much how I feel. My only concern about Rohl is how he'll operate in a club where the pressure is really on with what will be a massive budget compared to Wednesday, personally I think Cooper will be more suited with the experience he has and ultimately he is a 'safer' option going forward.
-
That was down to wages, from what I understand Ipswich trumped us by a significant amount too! Obviously they wanted to sail close to the PSR wind this season...
-
I can't see Rosenior leaving if they qualify for Europe, if they miss out then there's a slight chance. Leicester is going to be an interesting watch next season, what the hell happens there! Does RvN stay or do they part ways? The accounts for last season were pretty awful..
-
Reading some of the Wednesday boards, it seems like Rohl made some gestures over the weekend to suggest he's off.....they even believe we've paid for his services already so that the players wage bill was finally squared away.
-
I'm still slightly unconvinced by Rohl, for me I wouldn't mind Cooper or even Rosenior.
-
I agree and certainly there will be a superleague within the next 10-15 years. I'm not going to have a huge pop at the yanks, despite the media frenzy what is happening at Wrexham is a good thing and US owners at Birmingham & Orient aren't trying to destroy the clubs but quite the opposite.
