The whole Kenwynne Jones saga was a bad experience. Going on strike - what a *****. We should have left him to rot in the reserves for the rest of his contract - but 5 million or whatver seemed like taking sweets off a baby at the time. Bloody typical lack of sell on clause, but i guess Sern Johns goals gave us one more season the chumpionship.

You weren't around for the Branfart era then .... the change in the whole place with the Bally/Lawrie dream team coming in and Matty given licence to thrill was amazing.

Most of my favourites in terms of entertainment have been mentioned already. The Man U game in 81? with the Keegan wonder goal which was disallowed, but Armstrong got the winner in a 3-2 epic. League Cup mid 70's evening KO beating Div 1 Champions elect Derby County 5-0 with an exhilirating display of football on one of those wonderful floodlit nights at The Dell. Top clubs didn't put out reserve sides back then. 79? beating high flying Notts Forest 4-1 at The Dell with Shilton in goal was a very special day. Boyer was on fire. Forest were European Champs and Div 1 Runners Up. The 77? 3-3 Fa Cup game at Forest was as entertaining a game as you will ever get. 2 class sides with class players and only one thing on their minds win! A pleasure to have been amongst the joyous 10000 Saints fans that took over The Trent End. Fittingly my last ever pilgramage to The Dell was a classic, although at 3-0 to liverpool it wasn't looking too rosy until an MLT/Pahars influenced comeback made it 3-3. I'm sure if the game had gone on another 3 mins we'd have won. However My Bestest Ever Game at The Dell has to be Mickey Channon's Testimonial. Couldn't tell you hardly anything about the game itself - it was just the whole occassion staright after The Cup win. the Dell was absolutely rocking. Happy Days.
