  1. There were never any odds on offer or any book on this at Ladbrokes or any other bookie but why let the facts get in the way ....
  2. I'm with you on this. I buy a programme every match and cast my eye down to see if I recognise any of the opposition names and there are very few (mainly ex/ageing Premiership players). Nevertheless I have been very impressed with the players Pardew has brought in so he seems to know what he is doing! I guess we'll be more familar with another season in L1. Roll on next season, champions in waiting!
  3. That's just not true. A book will be formed where there is sufficient demand and the bookie is confident he has enough knowledge to assess the probability of the various potential outcomes. There was never any book on this or indeed is there any other book open at the moment on any League One, or indeed Championship, manager being sacked with any of bookies. All utter, utter b*ll*cks!
  4. Ladbrokes did not have this as a market nor did any other bookie as far as i am aware. All Bo*l*cks imo.
  5. Still a long shot but you never know ... Bet365 go: 9/2 Saints to make the play offs 11/1 Saints to be promoted Full odds below To be promoted Leeds 4/7 Millwall 5/6 Swindon 2/1 Charlton 5/2 Huddersfield 7/2 Southampton 11/1 Colchester 50/1
  6. Owen and Owen just below bargate (previously known as Mayes?).
  7. I think you will find they are 9/2 to get to the final and 9/1 (10/1 in places) on 90 minutes play, which is a "three horse race" - 1, X or 2. Though I understand the sentiment and they do seem long odds.
  8. Knew a scouse colleague who would go into a chippy and ask for a fried pie. Nice fella, sadly died of a heart attack a few years back. Never sure whether it was the fags, the booze or the fried pie that saw him off.
  9. The spread boys have us finishing 8th on 70 to 71 points. They're not normally far out. * Norwich Points 85/40 SELL 95.5 - 96.5 BUY * Swindon Points 76/40 SELL 85.5 - 86.5 BUY * Millwall Points 75/40 SELL 85 - 86 BUY * Leeds Points 74/40 SELL 83.5 - 84.5 BUY * Charlton Points 74/40 SELL 81 - 82 BUY * Huddersfield Points 68/40 SELL 78.5 - 79.5 BUY * Colchester Points 65/40 SELL 72.5 - 73.5 BUY * Southampton Points 57/39 SELL 70 - 71 BUY
  10. 25/1 this morning with Bet365 to get promoted and 9/1 to reach the play-offs. So I reckon that makes us a 6/4 shot to get promoted if we reach the play-offs.
  11. I know it looks unlikely but 25/1 on offer to be promoted looks a big price to me. If we get to 6th then I reckon we would be short to win promotion, 2/1 or less?
  12. As already mentioned it is reminiscent of the clamour for Steve Bull for England. He was an absolute hero at Wolves in our league, in the equivalent of the championship and in league 2. He scored loads of goals for them, I think topping 50 goals a season a couple of times, but didn't work out at international level. I would be more than happy if Rickie achieved the same as Bull but without the international embarrassment.
  13. Good ref. Gave the penalty, generally let the play flow. Can't really think of him getting stck from either set of fans

    Harlesden

You were right to feel uncomfortable. Harlesden is known as London's Yardies' Backyard and when I worked in this area (albeit some time ago) it had more murders per capita than any other community in Britain.
  15. Papa just for his pure exuberance and joy at scoring, milking the applause when subbed and his post match celebrations - fantastic and really helped make my day! On playing contribution I would go for for Dan Harding, great performance given he was playing out of of position.
  16. I think we will get it right and do well next season. Automatic promotion must be the aim. In terms of our chances I asked a guy who sets football odds for one of the bookies and he said that, whilst it does depend on who goes up and who goes down, he would put Saints in as favourites at around 7/2 to win the league.
  17. I just couldn't resist backing "Time for Rupert" in the World Hurdle ....
  18. My company has four seats/packages on a corporate debenture basis at Club Wembley for the main sports events. The JTP final is not one of the events. Therefore you are right you just call up, quote the membership number and they sell you the tickets but only for the seats you have (in this case four).
  19. How do you get the standing tickets? :-)
  20. I did think that it was a big assumption that just because he had the hump he was leaving his job. Could be: - his family - done his dough on the horses - literally got a pain in the arse or elsewhere - or any number of things ..
  21. Dougal and Bootsie were unstoppable. I remember after the Fairs Cup (now UEFA/Europa) how it took about eight old bill to hold Dougal down as he tried to take on Newcastle single handed.
  22. I remember this but through a bit of a drunken haze. Was on a coach that left Bedford Place after midnight. Remember waiting outside a pub in Sheffield to open at 10. Drinking loads of Youngers Tartan then a big bundle as we we went round the ground to their end before the kick off. A couple of lads lifted by old bill didn't make the coach back.
  23. As above - on 01271 335708
  24. Have you tried 01271335708. Worked for me.
  25. Just blocks e.g. my tickets will be in blocks 227 to 231. I booked on the phone and they said indvidual seats would be allocated when the tickets were printed but the seats would be together.
