Pompeys winding up petition is due to be heard on the 10th Feb, so they may well be in administration before they play us

First half was very poor, we defended reasonably well arpart from the goal, but offered little going forward, Lambert was far to isolated up front on his own, with the midfielders being kept busy in midfield by a decent colchester side, 4-5-1/4-3-3 does not work if the midfield don't get forward to help out. The defending for the goal was appaling, it was obvious what he was going to do, but neither of the centre backs picked up the runner as as went between them. 2nd half was mch better 4-4-2, I thought Conolly certainly added something to our game, we were getting close to an equaliser when we hit with a sucker punch on the counter attack, deserved out goal, but probably in the end unfortuneately 2-1 was a fair result. The game desended into a farce as the fog descended, there is no way anyone in the home end behind the other goal would have seen the penalty. oh and 1 other thing if anyone from Colchester is reading this sort you f*cking PA system out, we only heard every other word!

skates at SMS please, or failing that Arsenal Away so I can go to the emirates. 3rd choice, the lowest ranked team left in the competition at home.

A win is a win, glad to be in the hat for the 3rd round, havn't really followed the game so not gonna comment on the performance, but I am a bit concerned that we seem incapable of keeping a clean sheet, yes we are winning games, buts it always 2-1 or 3-1 or 3-2, just for once it would be nice to see a 0 in the goals against column

Bringing this back to the topic in hand, as i stated in the reaction thread, Pardew was spot on with his tactical awareness and substitution, I firmly beleive that bringing on Paul Wotton won us that game defensively. Its nice to have a manager who can use substitutes effectively to change the game, something we have been lacking for a while.

Just back after spending the night in Hartlepool and driving back today. We started slowly, but got better as the game went on, I have just one gripe, give that is was blowing an absolute gale, and the wind was swirling around in the stadium, why oh why did we keep hoofing it forward, especially first half, the wind meant the flight oif the ball in the air was so unpredictable, so get it on the floor ffs. Having said that, we were superb second half, Pardew once again showed that he has a lot of tactical awareness, bringing on Paul Wotton who was tasked with sitting in front of the back four and clearing our lines, which he did to tremendous effect, every ball played forward Wotton was under it to get it away, and he had a fantastic second half. As already stated, Lalana ran the show going forward, 2 great goals. Finally very weel done to every to everyone that went, the suport was fantastic, just a shame the home fans were so quiet.

It was so they could show the cricket beforehand

Looking forward to it, taken a week off work and doing a Tour of the UK, drive to Hartlepool Tuesday, stay in 'pool tuesday night, drive from Hartlepool to Edinburgh on Wednesday to go to a gig, then home via Worcester thursday/friday! I must be mad -
I like him having a go at the ball assitant, as long as it isn't done over the top, if the ball boy dosen't get a ball to him quick enough and he has a go at them, then the next time they get the ball to him quicker and he gets a quick throw in and it results in a goal, then there is every point to it.
-
I'm a big fan of Dan Harding, he has given us something we have been missing for a long time, a Proper Left Back. I particularly like his tendancy to have a go at the ball boys when he dosent get the ball quick enough, shows his passion and commitment to the game, and if he wants to take a throw quickly and dosen't get another ball fast enough the ball boys get told to give it to him quicker.

They are only opening the Northam and the Itchen, I guess that gives an indication of the attendance expected

Can someone tell Stuart Dennis that it is the Johnstone Paints trophy, not the fecking St Johnstone paints trophy, St Johnstone are a scottish football team, not a paint company.
-
we have been through this many times before, the stadium was built on police advice to house the away fans where they are, the northam was designed differently (5 turnstyles) so that it could be segregated easilly. To move the away fans anywhere else would involve a lot of work to put in seperate concourses etc, so in a word It aint gonna happen.

Just back form the game. Cracking start 1-0 up in 33 seconds, 3-0 up within 5 minutes, and 6-1 by halfway through the first half, we completely overran them in midfield, Jake Thomson and Lee Holmes on th wings were superb, and wotton and Mills in the middle were excellent. Lee Molyneux's goal for 2-0 was the pick of the bunch, edge of the box, top corner.

Much of the walk up for that Yeovil game were people who diverted from the Rose Bowl when the cricket was washed out, so a repeat is unlikely
-
I would be very surprised if they don't, they usually have it in the week before the season starts.

A very sensible appointment, someone with a bit of experience, maybe not the Big name that everyone wanted but certainly can do a job for us, and I will be behind him and the team, COYR

Just nipped out of the office to watch, fantastic turnout and atmosphere, loved the ticky tape from the bargate. Well done to all involved in organising and of course the lads themselves.
