  1. You do realise you can't post this sort of stuff without someone shouting you down. Since no-one has done this yet, I humbly take responsibility. "What sort of *** *** **** **** ***? You ****". Now that you have been dutifully reprimanded, I think it's an interesting post, not entirely surprising and perfectly in-line with a lot of other evidence that suggests that Nige may have been part of the problem. I was reading a post on the Reading forum the other day, written by one of our number (maybe someone from here) that suggested that during our ascent to the Premiership, Southampton FC were little more than flat track bullies - in the sense that our team was stacked with talent that our contemporaries did not have. Full post here; http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=118240&start=60. It's an interesting view.
  2. CB Fry isn't happy unless he's trying to make someone else unhappy. It's all about making someone else look worse. My current theory is that he's pussy-whipped, and makes his contributions on here in between ironing sessions.

    Korean 'War'

Interesting one for a number of reasons. First, any examination of the Korean situation is impossible without an examination of the circumstances of the Korean War, which commenced in the 1950s and technically, hasn't yet ended. Back then, the chief proponents were China and the US. The US was pursuing its policy of containment ( stopping the proliferation of communist nations and movements ) at the time. The Chinese gave support to the North Koreans. As I recall, both sides decamped to either side of the 38th parallel and the conflict ended, even if the war did not. I'm not suggesting that this conflict wasn't ever about Koreans; clearly it was. However, there was always an element of US vs China on this one. Thus it remains today. Large parts of the neoconservative administration went on record saying that they planned to prevent the emergence of a rival superpower following the end of the Cold War. Though they did not name China itself, it's clear that China is the country they meant. India may well have its century too, but the Chinese are surely next up to bat. There are several people already talking of a new Cold War, and in the sphere of espionage and military advancement, it has been hotting up. http://world.time.com/2012/11/28/what-if-there-was-a-cold-war-between-the-u-s-and-china/ http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57568659/china-vs-u.s.-online-spying-called-cold-war-for-the-next-generation/ http://www.worldcrunch.com/business-finance/new-cold-war-china-usa-economic-espionage-war-escalates/beijing-trade-cyber-boeing-property/c2s11203/#.UVf31Bz4m8M http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2012/05/02/are-we-headed-for-a-cold-war-with-china/no-one-wants-a-cold-war-between-the-us-and-china
  4. Very pleased with that performance. I am on track with my predictions for the last 8 games. Perfectly happy to fall out of the running at the next hurdle though. I predicted a loss against Reading.
  5. Loving the Lambert-Rodriguez Goal Express. However, I do not want to tempt fate, so I'll say no more.
  6. Well, Taylor Swift wouldn't be my cup of tea. I like my women to be able to remember the original A-Team.
  7. Just finished the Walking Dead game on PC. There are quite a few Walking Dead games shambling about at the moment; this would be the one developed by Telltale Games, a studio that has made its name doing point and click adventures. They did the Back To The Future games. I'm not a massive fan of point and click adventures, which is probably why it took me so long to get into this. Having just completed it, I can confirm that the game is bloody excellent and that I am an emotional mess as a result. The general form in these games is to find something to solve a puzzle. There's still an element of that in this game, but there is a massive shift in emphasis. Far more important are the choices you make; which inform your relationships with other survivors. The game is broken into 5 episodes, which each episode featuring 5 big choices, some literally life or death ( there are several points where you have to choose to save one of two people ). Although a couple of characters from the TV show/comics do show up as cameos, this is an entirely different group from Rick Grimes' crew. Consequently, you don't know what is going to happen or where the story is going. The game scooped pretty much every award going in 2012. At first, I put this down to the videogame industry getting excited about having marginally better writing than it is used to. Having played it, I'd say the game deserves all its plaudits. Great game and crucially, a great Walking Dead experience - like playing your very own season; and going through the same wringer the show puts you through. Highly recommended.
  8. Really did feel like a loss, that one. After so much fkn hard work, too
  9. Am I a "this formation man" or a "that formation man"? Ah, you gotta love him. He does cultivate that "hidden cupboard of mystery" trait so well.
  10. I'd ignore the Bear on this one, Deadball. You can't blame him. He was raised by Crystal Palace supporting gay bears. Difficult upbringing, especially because unlike most of his ursine companions, he is able to speak a form of English and needs to express himself by asking pointed questions about the ball quota of other posters. I overlook it because he's mischievous rather than evil. This was my last year in Southampton before going to Uni, so I like the video. The audio is rubs. A rap over-dub would be good. "So this is how we did it in '93 Geriatrics shamblin' nasty in the Town Quay Fiesta 1 point 2s, we got no shame, Following muthaf*ckas down Stoneham Lane" etc.
  11. Heh, some of my tin-hat sites talk of beam weapons capable of inducing heart attacks.
  12. We let these people into our country knowing full well what they'd done or been accused of, on the tacit agreement that their terrorist activities were conducted elsewhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Londonistan_(term) The householder in my analogy intended to exploit the natural tendencies of the burglar to his or her own advantage.
  13. And yet we openly tolerated him and a hell of a lot of other extremists, including those responsible for the Paris Metro bombings in 1995. This is like knowingly inviting a burglar into your house, acting surprised when you get burgled, then asking for burglary laws to be changed to account for your stupidity.
  14. For hopefully the last time, if we didn't want people like Abu Qatada here then we probably shouldn't have let all those extremist/terrorist groups operate out of London in the 1990s. How do you think they all got in and managed to stay? Jumped over a fence? Qatada is being used as a battering ram against the ECHR.
  15. Is this a fight to the death contest?

This is my stance, Bear. Funny in the show. Crapola when practiced by drunken muppets.

    Not biting.
  20. I'm not sure people would get the last bit right after a few beers. However, there is precedent for a bit of jammin' on the Yellow Submarine. 80s playground favourite "We all live in a tub of margarine" was riffed on hugely.

And people wonder why the left generalise the right as stupid. I bet you lap all this demonisation of the unfortunate sh!t right up, dontcha?

Mate, I'm not seriously going to debate this while you continue to make generalisations. You paint the left as one giant blob, say you hate them all. You're also culpable of projecting your own ignorance of a situation onto the wider whole, as evidenced by your statement that all left-wingers buy into this financial system and see the answer as spend, spend, spend. That, and your "everything is f**ked and nothing will fix it". Really though; you're just unhappy with the ill-informed label. And for the record i) I asked whether it was any wonder that the left made generalisations about the right being stupid. I didn't call you or the right stupid. ii) You accept neo-liberalism and the financial system as a point of truth iii) I'm not sneering at anyone. Your team won, remember. I'm just amazed that so many people are content to be butt-f*cked and stick up for their rapists.
  25. Turks, I'm a big fan of your work - so don't take this the wrong way. This is a great start, but it's needlessly repetitive. Can I suggest for the chorus:- Oh Nigel Adkins is tactically inept, played Jay Rod on the left, said "Gazza, you're the best" Nigel Adkins is tactically inept, with the points that we'd have kept, into Europe we'd have crept
