Swansea are finding it far too easy down their right flank. It seems to have become them v. Boruc.
-
Call theat defending?
-
The finishing is really quite bad.
-
It seemed to me that Rickie was one of the few players that looked comfortable with the ball while also managing to pass it to a red shirt occasionally. Admittedly the Ukrainians were also pretty adept at finding red shirts too.

Have just come in. I take it we have the same old story of being unable to penetrate against the park the bus sides.

Adam Lallana - has he flattered to deceive?

He's a fine player. Happy to have him in the squad. If he has a noticeable shortcoming it's in his poor finishing. He really doesn't have much of a shot on him. If he works on this then more goals will come. -
I can just about go along with the new home shirt - grudgingly. That bib thing on the away shirt though. Looks dreadful.
-
Just can't abide that V shape thing. Looks awful to me. I can live with the grim colour (or lack of one) but it just doesn't look good in my opinion. Zero chance of me buying either shirt but that's because I'm approaching 60 and blokes my age shouldn't be prancing about in football shirts.

Totally not enthralled.

SAINTS 1-1 Stoke City // Post-Match Reaction

Time to think about how to turn the possession into goals. Still, first season back in the Prem, I'd have taken that at the start. -
Sunderland 1-1 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction

Just enough. Any chance that they can indulge in some shooting practice & dead ball delivery practice? -
Delivery on set pieces is just awful.
-
Scored at last. Now get a second please.
-
Reasonable possession but the impotence when it comes to scoring is still evident. Sunderland really are poor.
-
I see the Saints dead ball delivery is still pretty awful.
-
Probably means he'll break that duck today.
-
Ramires has been dreadful all game. Surely would have been subbed at half time if he hadn't taken matters into his own hands there. Looks like Villa will be moving clear of Saints now.
-
The lack of goals is causing some serious problems now. Even a point today would have had me breathing a little easier but Saints haven't managed to score for some 5 hours now. A month ago I was looking forward to a relaxed end to the season but now it looks like it'll be back to last day nerves once again.

No more points for Saints this season by the look of it. Can't score and always likely to concede. I predict a fraught and uncomfortable last day at St Mary's with unexpected tears.
-
Not sure if it's my in-built pessimism but there is a whole lot of wishful thinking going on. Yes, the odds are still on Saints staying up but just look at the current form. How many hours since we scored? Must be about 6. Wigan haven't rolled over for us and if they get 3 points on Tuesday panic stations will be sounding. There's a complacency in the air that is somewhat misplaced.
-
Me too. Looks more and more likely that we won't be though. How many hours is that without scoring now? It's a bit of a worry and a the idea of a fraught St Mary's on the last day isn't very appealing. I can well imagine Crouch scoring a last minute winner to bring forth the tears.

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Wasn't that 80-1 this morning? The worrying thing for me is our lack of goals. Plenty of nice passing in the middle of the pitch but finishing has been a problem for a while now. It's a good job we managed to do a job on Man C, Chelsea & Liverpool otherwise we'd be virtually down by now. -
Oh yes. Great day. Was a 22 y/o "steward" on one of the special trains to Wembley Central which meant I had a free ride. Yellow jumper, blue jeans, yellow and blue scarf. In complete contrast to my normal 21st century pessimism I was an absolute optimist back then and just knew we'd win that day. It was also back in the day when the FA Cup Final was the last game of the season and took place on a Saturday at 3pm.

Watching rugby is pretty frustrating these days. Too many technical infringements giving refs the opportunity to strut the stage and basically decide who wins the game on a penalty count. Can't say I'm disappointed at the news.

I'm balancing nicely on the fence here. I look at the bookies offering 80-1 on Saints to be relegated so have to take comfort in that. Things would really have to go pear-shaped to Saints now enjoying another season in the Prem. Let's face it, Wigan have an uphill struggle while those in the NE must be feeling a tad worried. On the other hand I look at Saints indifferent form over the last 3 games with no cutting edge in attack while the defensive panic stations have returned. There's also all those points thrown away against the likes of QPR, Wigan, Stoke, Norwich, Sunderland that, had we been as good as some believe, would have seen as looking at a nice and comfy run in. Instead we could be needing something on yet another tense last day of the season. When it comes to games that I cannot influence directly I'm an out and out pessimist. With that in mind I've decided to take control and plonk a modest sum on Saints to be hosting Bournemouth next season. I do this for two reasons. One, because my infrequent bets (almost) always result on more profit for the bookies. Two, because if the unthinkable should happen I can spend the summer forgetting about football in some place far away with a large pile of notes in hand.
