  1. I tune in expecting the new dawn to be continuing to glow more strongly and it would seem that it's actually still the darkness of the night that surrounds us. We still seem to have a big problem creating decent chances and can't convert those that do come our way. Looks like same old thing then.
  2. I am calm! Breathe deeply!
  3. We're heading for a season or more in the 4th division unless something changes soon. I can't believe that we haven't won a single game yet.
  4. I was hoping we might reach nil points before the end of September. Looks like my hopes were somewhat misplaced but it would be nice to be still in touch with 5th bottom at Christmas.
  5. St Marys is jinxed I tell ya!
  6. Typical eh? We knew it would happen though.
  7. We're never fast enough to take advantage of it anyway.
  8. There are players at Saints that have had their confidence shot to pieces by last season's debacle. If this sort of form continues they'll be too bloody frightened to play at all and maybe that's where we're at just now. It needs strong, confident players to come in and get a couple of wins from somewhere. If we get stranded 15 points from safety it'll be a long, long way back and more confidence drained. Difficult times.
  9. We're just a laughing stock I'm afraid. I'm heading to the hills for a couple of weeks.
  10. Some were hoping for 9 points by the end of tonight.
  11. It might take a while to reach the heady heights of 0 points at this rate.
  12. Good to get to HT without conceding. Now step it up and nick all 3 points.
  13. I seem to remember Euell having quite a few goal scoring opportunities last season but his finishing was dreadful. Maybe the goals are wider up north.
  14. I seem to remember there was a lot of positive thinking at this time last year from those with a more optimistic outlook. The mad experiment in the intervening months would seem to have indicated that blind optimism is at best misplaced. I am going to trust a manager with a decent track record to see what many of us can see for ourselves and to rectify the situation, especially in defence. The first measure will be to see how quickly the 10 point deficit can be overcome and after that I would hope to see us take the league by storm even though I really expect a decent mid table finish. Cheers!
  15. Ok. I'll admit it. I go to games on my own most of the time. It's probably been for the best that I drive back to Reading on my own these days though. I probably wouldn't be very good company.
  16. I have seen it referred to like that. It's a reference to the amount of money being made by those whipping up the hysteria. Some seem to have made nice little empires on the back of it.
  17. I've read the book and can only congratulate Dave Jones for his resolve in fighting back against what has turned into a modern day witch hunt. I ask myself what on earth goes through the minds of those such as plod, the CPS and the child abuse industry in general. They seem to see paedos lurking everywhere which perhaps tells us more about the perversions inside their own minds actually. There have been many more people without the funds and support that Dave had who have been ruined by this sort of nonsense. So look out because you could be next.
  18. 3-0? Really?
  19. Well at least it's nice to be talking about football again.
  20. Happy to add my own small consideration.
  21. Still conceding plenty of late goals then. Something there to be looked at by the new man in charge.
  22. You have proved my point.
  23. Some might find him interesting but I wouldn't have used that word myself. Tedious, contrary or narcissistic might more easily fit the bill. Frankly, if that's the way he holds conversations then I'd be surprised if people don't find somewhere else to be whenever he's around. A good opinionated exchange of views can be a great way to spend an hour or two but most probably know when to move onto something else.
  24. My last one on this. No doubt you consider that I'm some bleedin' heart liberal with comments like that but far from it. What I do object to is people getting killed for no particular reason other than to spare the blushes of some politico or other. And, yes, that includes those on the "other side" as you call it, many of whom are civilians or "collateral damage" as no doubt you'd refer to them as. The "enemy" are, on the whole, actually Afghans living in their own country whereas our boys are not of course. Now I don't know about you but if this country was being bombed and shot at by a foreign army trying to instill its morals and customs on me then I'd like to think that I'd be doing my best to make life uncomfortable for them. Perhaps others think the same. That is all.
  25. Nope. There are probably a whole host of reasons, one of which will more than likely be to serve the country. Others might be to escape the dole, see the world, kick some arabs or play with guns but I doubt whether many would have thought that being blown up in far away ditches, while politicians safely back at home keep changing the story, was part of the attraction. Maybe I'm just a bit more cynical about the propaganda that's fed to us.
