That reading game is a must win now

Don't think Gaston deserves to be dropped. Played pretty well Saturday and scored with a sublime finish. I'd start with him and bring Davis on when he gets knackered!

How long before we hear Sack The Manager

Or maybe it works against the better footballing sides but really doesn't against the more direct sides. There is little point on using a high press on a team who is going to lump it anyway. On Saturday it wasn't just that either. The two very quick wide players caused us huge problems and with the amount of space we left behind the front 4, it's no surprise that Remy and Hoilett caused us problems all game. MP has to come up with an alternative way of playing against teams who don't know it about the back. I doubt there are many teams at all who play like that in Spain. -

Don't think any fan would be calling for his head if we'd lost to man city tbh. They would be questioning Cortese a bit more though. Pochettino has shown promising moments. I'm not convinced by him. Yet, and he'll take time to adjust, I just hope he does it before may and we start picking up points. It's not like we're playing badly. A mixture of injuries and individual errors are costing us at the moment. Shaw is clearly still carrying an injury. Gaston seems to pick up an injury every game courtesy of teams singling him out for special treatment. And the unsettled defence. I think we've shown enough under Poche to stay up and with a good pre season it'll be interesting to see how he does in the transfer market Pretty pathetic to be writing him off in all honesty. Things don't have to be so black and white. -
Mouth off about whatever!?? Right. So I don't come on here to discuss Saints with plenty of other like minded people?! Constant negative people **** me off on real life as well, so it's not out of character for them to **** me off on here. I personally think I add a pretty expansive opinion on here when I have time to discuss things in depth...

Hmm...I know we played a few in the end. And the odd one during the game but not many. Mainly due to lack of movement from our front 4.
-
Probably because we're playing against Liverpool. About time he had his trial for them !
-
This. He plays better because he is captain as well.

MR, your troll mate 110 per saint has already decided he should go. -
Yup! Agree. Them and toon both played us at our own game by pressing high with pacey players on the full backs, not giving us the opportunity to create from the back.
-
I thought he played on the left vs Man City. He came on on the left Vs Everton and yesterday and started on the left vs Wigan and Man Utd. He hasn't played up front once under Poche.
-
We f*cking hate you.
-
But J-Rod has never really played up front. There was once or twice but not often. And our system doesn't suit 442. The few games in which he played up front, Rickie played in Gaston's role in behind.
-
The club has clearly gone a different way this season though. Not sure why, and not sure which transfers were down to who. Certain transfers have been used to raise profile across the world for sure....Yoshida, Lee, Mayuka for example. As much as 3m has been a waste of money for Mayuka so far, I can't judge him because I've only seen him once or twice. My original point about him is exactly that. Whats the point in spending £8m on Forren and him, when they don't play. I think people can discuss on this forum about our transfer activity this season, and everyone has their own opinion on it. I think some signings have been good value for money, others less so. I am kind of sat on the fence a bit here.

Think I fit in to category 3 & 4
-
But if we had a better player to play in midfield, then J-Rod might get more of a game up front. The fact is that Lallana and Gaston have been in and out of the side, and Lallana has been poor for a lot of this season. JRod offers a much more there, even out of position. Surely it's not easy for the club to judge how Rickie will do? They know he's a good player and what his strengths & weaknesses are, but how are they meant to judge future form? They can estimate but I'd rather have a versitile JRod as backup and can also play in either wide area.
-
But how were the club meant to know that Rickie was going to make the step up so well this season? And we only had him and Guly who could play up front if you discount Mayuka and J-Rod. 7m really isn't that much for a highly rated young English striker. I certainly wouldn't have been happy if we didn't have an alternative to Rickie going into the season.
-
I watched the game again this morning as we really didn't play much long ball. We might have gone long at times but we really didn't play too much long ball at all yesterday. If anything we went backwards too often.
-
But we play with one up front and Rickie is a better player!? If Rickie was the same age as JRod he'd probably be worth £20m. It's a hard one, but I really do rate JRod. He had a few shots from out the box yesterday which had Ronaldo-esque dip!

Gaston was our most influential attacking player yesterday...
-
Ok. Just wondering what you're expecting JRod to do ?! He has been very impressive. Was very good at Wigan away. Far far better than Lallana yesterday. Done ok against Spurs and West Ham. I'd even go as far as saying he's been one of our best players under Poche. Agree Morgan and Cork have been our best players.
-
You said SQUAD. Every single one has improved the squad. Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Gaston, J-Rod have all improved the team IMO. Boruc > Davis Clyne > Richardson Yoshi > Hooiveld Gaston > Lallana JRod > Guly..... Gazza is a better option than Bart Davis a better option than Hammond. Mayuka is a better option that Connolly.

Not a L1 squad, but no way a prem squad.
