QPR have done it, why can't we ?! Reading are ****e, and have just lost to both Wigan and Villa at home, and WHU are poor. If we put in a half decent performance and defend the long ball better than we did at their place, there is no reason why we can't win both of those games.
-
Reading's remaining fixtures aren't looking too kind now. Next two of Man Utd and Arsenal away, then us (which they have to win) and then Liverpool at home.
-
Mathematically yes, but not realistically. Chances are that if we lose to Liverpool and Chelsea (although personally I think we'll get atleast a point from them 2 games) if we go to Reading and win, and then beat WHU at home, we're a couple of points away from being safe.
-
Talk about picking out examples to fit an arguement !!!! What about Swansea, Wigan, Norwich, Sunderland home games ?!
-
Sorry? Why? If we get 0 points out of the next two, we still have a chance of being safe before we go into that Stoke game?!
-
Yep, and we only have to players who look to get in behind and that is Gaston running through past Lambert, and J-Rod doing good work in the wide areas. Lallana and Puncheon as talented as they are, are quite predictable as they are never really looking to get in behind. MP needs to come up with a plan B, and we have been crying out for a pace option off the bench. One of the reasons why it's so baffling that Mayuka isn't even on the bench.

Reading will finish bottom Can't decide about the other two spots. I have said all along I think that Wigan will stay up and Villa will go down, but they're not looking in a bad place after yesterdays win. And beginning to think that QPR might sneak out of it. I also think we will stay up. Will certainly be very tight and there will be lots of changes in positions between now and the end of the season. Will go with: Saints Wigan ------------ QPR Villa Reading

Lallana has done absolutely nothing to deserve to stay in the XI. Atleast Gaston played pretty well yesterday for an hour.

Because it is a lot easier for them to get a reaction if people are constantly negative. I don't mind the odd negative opinion amongst a discussion, but when it's rammed down your throat in every thread it gets very tiresome. -
Agree it's frustrating and getting difficult to ignore. Mods need to do something about it, because the decent posters will just stop. Can certainly see some people cancelling memberships because of it. It's getting to the point that if you put them all on ignore, there isn't actually that much on here.

No I just think we're struggling to break teams down at the moment and becoming a bit predictable. Certainly think we missed Puncheon yesterday.
-
Thing is with dominating possession is that it's hard to break down a team as there is little space. When hitting someone on the break there is loads of space so it's probably easier to score.

Have we scored from outside the box this season ?

Lambert vs villa and man city must have been close. Punch away at QPR. -
Lallana decent and has been superb for us. However I just don't really find him effective at this level. His shooting is woeful and he seems to want to do far too much sometimes before he gets the ball in. he also offers very little cover to the full back. I just feel that at the moment Jrod, Gaston and Punch offer more than him.

For what else gaston brings to us, I'd play him but just let someone else take corners. -

We created very little once Gaston went off. Was our best player for about 55 mins today. Although you clearly just seem to write stuff to get people to bite to your awful posts -

Eh?! We quite clearly outplayed them today. Even Norwich fans have mentioned it. -
If we maintain our Premiership position

Boruc or Cork for me -
Think we have a chance against this lot next week. They don't play the long ball so our high pressing game should work. Definitely going to struggle against Suarez though. Boruc; Clyne Fonte Yoshi Shaw; Cork Morgan; Punch Gaston JRod; Lambert Davis Forren JWP Davis Guly Lallana Mayuka

Gaston is probably the only player we have who tries to 'whip' the ball in. We put far too many crosses into the box which are just floated in which makes it a lot harder to score from. Headers from 10 yards don't have enough pace and give the keeper an opportunity to read it. Rickie can generate a bit of pace on his own but a lot of his headed goals are placed in the corners. Jrod isn't a powerful player and neither is Lallana, Gaston or Punch. On the subject of wingers with pace who can put a decent ball in.....if a winger has these two characteristics then they will play for a much better side than us. Fact is these players aren't particularly common and when they are found they are worth millions...I.e Bale/Ronaldo. Other clubs have to settle for either/or generally. -
This is what was reported at the time.

Set pieces aside I thought Gaston had a decent game today.
