  1. In response to part I, they do indeed want to join the Euro, IF economic conditions are right and the public vote that way in a referendum. The arrogance of ordinary Dave was astounding, we will never join the Euro under any circumstances, what a ****. I agree with part II, we're focusing too much on the personalities. Brown has little or now public charisma, but that shouldn't matter it should all be about policies. Unfortunately this is not the case.
  2. VFTT, are you advocating that we try to split up Goldmans and the like? When the politicians have spoken about splitting up big banks, it's always been the retail arm away from the IB side of things.
  3. Until the early hours of Friday we won't really know will we Stanley. And again, it's hardly surprising to have this news in the Torygraph now is it. Lets just wait and see shall we!
  4. Talk about contradict yourself. Less influence, but more than enough to force a swing back to the Conservatives.
  5. No doubt we do import a shed load of stuff, but an interesting fact from Radio 4 last week, manufacturing in the UK has actually increased since 1997. The things being manufactured may be of no use to joe public, but an intersting fact never the less.
  6. Paul Daniels ;-)
  7. I thought I heard a figure of 5% in the debate.......
  8. Well that's hardly a surprise now is it Dune! I'd have to think long and hard about it before making a decision. They are pros and cons for staying in or leaving the EU. Just as there are pro and cons about using the Euro instead of the pound. It would be nice to have some real facts and figures that are not driven by an agenda and xenophobia.
  9. TDD, it was in the ToryGraph not just any paper.
  10. Anyone know who's behind the posters with the above text? Can't find anything on the web about it.
  11. Dune, I have to ask you, is the hatred of Balls, Milliband ETC a party thing? Would you dislike them as much if they were Tories, UKIP or BNP?
  12. I'll raise you with Michael Gove, what a slimy little tosspot he is. Far worse than either Milliband.
  13. Child Benefit, Childrens Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits, does seem a little over the top!
  14. Two issues here Mr Troll, the Tories are also going to keep this benefit, nothing to do with socialism. You can also be better off in Switzerland if you have more kids. The more kids you have the lower the income tax rate (at least in Geneva canton). They also give you tax benefits for being married. And it's not in massive sweeping tax bands either, it's very very progressive in £1000- £3000 increments. So you don't jump from 20% to 40% in one foul swoop.
  15. I agree with that Benji, benefits going to families should be along these sort of lines. I've not doubt it would be difficult to do BTW. The money should not be used to pay for Cigarettes & Alcohol for the parents.
  16. How can the Working Families Tax Credit be a disincentive to work?
  17. The last two paragraphs can be summed up with one word - Globilisation
  18. Have you been reading the Guardian buctootim, Mervyn King is quoted as saying exactly that.
  19. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/apr/29/bnp-non-white-britons-resettlement-grants £50,000 for non whites to leave and who "could go back and help develop their own countries". OMG.
  20. Yeh I know they are, we all do, I just don't think we need to cut as savagely as I believe the Tories will. Ultimately, it all depends on where the cuts are made, I trust Labour/Libs more in where the cuts are made compared to the Tories. Whomever wins we're in for a bumpy ride, with VAT upto 20% no doubt :-(
  21. Sorry, should've been clearer, his response to the question posed by the Gay Times, whatever it was. Something about party whip or free votes on Gay rights issues I'd guess. Dave (god I hate that call me Dave stuff) looked a little flustered there is all I was saying. Nice to see something not choreographed for once, just like Bigotgate to cheer you up again!
  22. Benji, like it or not, if there isn't a massive majority for the Tories it's not a good result. Everyone keeps banging on about the failings of Labour, but the Tories cannot capitilise on them, that's a poor campaign in my eyes. Personally I lived through the 80's, schools in choas due to striking teachers, lack of resources, front line services cut. I don't want the schools or NHS to return to those bad old days under the Tories. I'm sure there will be cost cutting in both areas by all parties, I really don't believe everything will be ring fenced, but cuts in moderation not a fecking great axe being taken to the departmental budgets.
  23. Careful Jeff, don't upset Benji with your Labour mantra when there's a much better option available. The top option is so great that still only roughly a third of people will vote for it.
  24. mmmmm well we couild well be heading there buctootim with the hung parliament. It would be really good to get some cross party consensus on the big issues we as a nation need to deal with.
  25. Well his response was very clear there wasn't it :-)
