  1. the parkway car park is free at weekends but I accept that although easy peasy geting in it can be a pain getting back due to numbers. Opposite the station is a carwash place who will wash your car for a fiver and let you leave your car there for as long as you want. It's a steal with the added benefit that you can double back and go straight up Hill Lane and The Avenue then straight onto the M3. Alternatively why not enquire about the park and ride at Burseldon tesco? free bus, just don't wear colours.
  2. had dinner with my mate today and for ther first time in a long time he didn;t have his nipper in tow. His lad , 14 now, chose to rather spend the afternoon with his new girlfriend intead! 6. Not sure why anyone would give a fiddler's fart about anyone's sexual leaning aprt from the obvious. which for the hard of thinking, is wanting to have sex with them. I really do believe that homophobia is a sign of one of two things; ignorance or fear, either way it's a trait that only the affflicted should be seeking help with, sadly the ones who are openly homophobis tend to deflect this inadequacy onto others. Shame really. Not aimed at anyone in particular but I wonder if they ('phobes) hold the same views on people who 'choose' a life of abstinence/chastity? Surely the train of thought would lead one to deem that also un-natural? Anyhow, just back from Brighton last night and had a scream, in fact I was tricked into a clothes shopping spree and without the advice and admiring comments of the gay assistant in Dirty Harr's I may well have ended up being dressed by mrs h, a mistake I have made in the past as evidenced by many moth-eaten items in my closet (pun intended). btw, look out for the new Bench jeans, Levis denim jacket and Pea Coat coming your way.. If the inclination takes you by all means touch my bum, just don't squeeze it, and that includes you Mr X....no exceptions.
  7. Dug this out today, I won it from the Quay Radio station ages ago. Unfortunately expires 24/10/2010 so needs to be used by nest Sunday! 8. 3D Tvs are just too realistic for me. I watched the recent Pompey game on a mates and fell asleep during the second half. When I woke up my wallet and phone had been nicked!
  9. and named after the old van that they used around the village and site iirc, which was covered in overspray from the paint shop. Locals used to call it the 'old speckled 'un' which led to the beer's name. A very fine brew I should add. oxidation = Rusty

Potatoes. Read an article yesterday about the potatoe market in the Independant. iirc, the UK share of the market, which compared it to that of Pasta and Rice, was down about 3% last year. Younger geneartion like their pasta and rice dishes and the potatoe eaters tend to be aged 40+. Apart from the potatoe marketing board (one of the Quango's to escape the cull) launching a big media campaign soon, I can't se any turn around as potatoes simply do not have the appeasl and their is a wide misconception that pasta etc is more healthy. HOWEVER; tucked away in that lengthy article is a little nugget that caught me eye and actually made me think of you: "It is the world's fourth-biggest crop after rice, wheat, and maize. Even China is switching; it now grows more potatoes than anywhere else." So, the Chinese like them and are already the biggest consumers in the World! Don't know how anyone would find a company involved in the farming, production or distribution in China but there must ne a way of getting in on it somehow? Perhaps a western company who are advising them?

  13. Hi, I have just been told that the engine on our narrow-boat has been losing water at the rate of approx 1 litre a day. We are off for a few days from Saturday with the in-law's for their first ever go on the canals and I am a bit concerned that the problem may worsen with more use, potentially leaving us in the middle of nowhere without lighting, power and hot water.. A bit hard to explain the set up but the coolant reservoir is about 4 feet above the engine which is in turn under the floor of the stern area. It is gravity fed not a sealed/pressurised system. The heated coolant is diverted to a heat exchange type tank, similar to an immersion heater, where it heats the domestic hot water. The chap who looks after maintenance etc is planning to have the head removed as he suspects that that is the source of the problem. However I have been told that a diesel engine of that type is unlikely to have suffered that sort of damage and it is more likely a leak from a pipe or pipe connector on the run to or from the heat exchange thingy. Thoughts please and advice as to what I (as an amateur) might be able to do to rectify it. Not many tools on board but i could take some basic ones and have a tinker. One of my major concerns is the needless outlay for an engineer to start taking it apart needlessly. Having not seen the problem first hand I can't really add much, sorry. Really appreciate any advice. hamster NB The system also supplies the radiators and is backed up by what is known as a hurricane heater for when the engine is not running, this is turned on and off manually.

  19. Correct. He was a decent goalie before his freak injury, would play in goal or in a striker role apparently, although not very good at it.
