  2. Not as old as other links but the Echo quoted Nicola one March 13th saying that we were not doing as well as other teams who he felt we should be compared to: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/5060343.Cortese_denies_Pardew_rift/ Also on Feb 8th DE quted both NC and AP http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4993892.Cortese_puts_Pardew_under_pressure/ Quote: Cortese said owner Markus Liebherr had made a significant investment - with nearly £2m thought to have been spent on players in January alone - and the reason for that was so Saints would make the playoffs. Cortese added that recent league results have "not been satisfactory against that objective". When asked for his response Pardew was fairly muted. “They’re his opinion and I can’t change that,” he said. “If he feels they’re fair then they’re fair. “We’re just trying to have a really successful season the best way we can,” he added. When asked whether the timing was appropriate he commented: “I’m not questioning anything. “It’s his prerogative. “I’m just the manager of the football team and I’m trying to do the best job I can. “There’s always pressure on a manager.”
  3. tft, by the way, we enjoyed the St Patricks gig at The Fox and Hounds, the one in the big tent. (assuming that you linked with 'Coast')
  4. /\ The route more or less follows the M1 near to Northampton up until Lutterworth, then we take a right turn to MH. I assumed that the coverage in the M1 corridor would be good but we will obviously be travelling at low level following the natural contours of the land.
  5. On previous occasions my mybile has worked fine most of the time, do you mean coverage re the area we're travelling? If so, we'll be following the Grand Union northward from an area called Gayton towards Market Harborough. Also he'll be using it in the evenings once we are moored up, we tend to moor up where we can get a good reception on the Satelite dish but don't know if the that (sat reception) has any bearing on qualty of mobile reception.
  6. Hi, We are off on the narrowboat this wekend and my grandson wants to take his netbook. As we are only away for a wek and I probably wont use it very often aftrewards I don't want a contract so can someone recomend the best PAYG deal available at the moment please? The boat is made of steel so would I need one that I can dangle out of the window using a USB extension lead? One last thing; I need to be able to buy it in person either today or tomorrow so must be available in Soton. My own current mobile phone is with Tesco if that helps. Cheers.

  11. Ah, Buy To Lets. We had one a few years back and it outperformed anything I have had before or since, I think that we also got out at just the right time (for us) as from what i can see it's pretty tough (unless you are whacking a massive deposit down) to get one to pay for itself. Ours just about kept it's head above water in spite of a couple of unexpected largish outlays, the leaseholders management company also tried to charge us for inspections that we knew had simply not taken place! When we decided to cash in we found that it had almost doubled in value. Kerching - own mortgage slashed overnight and part time hours for the both of us. With entry level houses I feel that youngsters are not as demanding as those with growing family needs. They tend to be led by shiny kitchens and the smell of paint. Obviously as massive generelaistion but a fair one in many cases. The growing family who have perhaps been renting or have bought too small a property will be a lot more choosy; room sizes, number of wc's, off road parking, gardens, schools etc etc. hence the occasional clamour for 'proper' houses every now and then. There can be no doubt that people have stayed put for much longer thatn they'd have anticipated and for this reason I think (and dearly hope) that 4/5 bed detached houses with 130' gardens and off road parking for 3 cars, shed, workshop, (2-storey) wendy house, summer house, 2 bathrooms plus 1 cloakroom, laundry room, brand new kitchen, 3 lounges, study, 30 sq m. decking, loft and wall insulation and a shaver point will be deemed desireable. the mr and mrs h will be off to the sunny kent coast to retire (well sort of). nick, I'm just trying to stir the market up tbh, but do have a feeling in my water that the property market is about to find a new level and I know from our searches that their are some genuine bargains to be had RIGHT NOW.

  14. Weedon? I'm passing through next week. fwiw I believe that property is where people need to be right now. If anyone can downsize and use their surplus to buy the right place they will not regret it. I've been chatting to a few estate agents over the past couple of weeks and although they tend to lie like a cheap watch, I have also been (amateuristically) watching certain property markets. The houses that are shifting quickly right now are in the 250-300k band. This is imho a bracket that does not historically kick-start the market but (again imho) there are some out there who are quite desperate for a move to a bigger house. The sort of place that me and mrs h are after has grown almost beyond us, but large family homes (3/4 beds) are staying relatively low. On top of that there are not that many coming to market, hence they are moving quickly. Within 100 yards of where I live 3 have sold in less than 4 weeks. I predict that in 12-18 months, once the first time buyers get on board, the knock on effect will be that families that have been desperate for that extra bedroom will be clamouring for them and paying as much as they have to to seal the deal early doors. Just my opinion.
  15. Maybe we should take the opportunity to make the memory of her reign special, as in her being our last ever monarch? I'd vote for that. It's nought personal, I just don't like her and her sort and what they represent.

  17. it suits you though.
  18. The Gills have parted company with Mark Stimson. Not universally supported amongst the fans since taking over from non-league management but still managed a goliath effort to get promoted via play-offs last season. Unfortunately I think that keeping their talisman Simeon Jackson when he could clearly have brought in much needed funds for more strength in depth cost them their place in Div 3. I think they had just 2 wins away from home in his time there including not a single win this time out. Good luck Mark but ultimately - FAIL. Anyhow, I thought that I'd pass on my 'inside track' knowledge regarding his replacement. Despite publicly stating that he WILL NOT be sending in his CV, Andy Hessenthaller has opened talks with Paul Scally. Maybe he would not need to submit a CV after all, his first managerial post was right in at the deep end stewarding The Gills in their highest ever finish in the CCC following Peter Taylor's departure. He is almost unanimously the fans favourite for the post maybe now is the time for him to take the ho-seat once again? Cometh the hour and all that... Note: Scally reckons that he received over 30 applications thus far!
  19. Beef -------------- Not at all b, off again nect week - Market Harborough, hopefully
